A few years ago, I watched a Californian politician slagging off ICE cars because of "waste" heat from the engine. I did a little over a hundred miles in the scottish borders today air temp about 4 C and that "waste" kept my wife and I warm, kept the glass clear etc, thanks waste. I really don't fancy paying 69 pence pkwh to keep warm. And no, I don't have a drive way, my 103 year old ex local authority home, will not accommodate a drive.

He says he calculates he'll get his investment back in four years. I'm thinking of just getting the same on my identical house. But really, the savings you make simply from home charging are substantial. I reckon I'm paying half what I did in fuel for my Golf. Then if you get a wall box and an off-peak tariff you can be paying as little as 7p a unit. And have you taken into account that EVs barely need servicing? The price of these big DC chargers is a rip-off but if you charge at home you hardly ever see these. I think you should re-do your sums.

Doesn't matter one iota what an EV looks like, drives like or costs. If there isn't the infrastructure to support them they are simply going to be an inconvenience. Most households won't have the cabling capacity for a fast charger and our grid can't supply the (potential) demand either. Then there's the issues of insufficient chargers, slow charging, broken chargers, street parking/charging? expensive electricity (and the only way is 'up'), depreciation, over-priced, insurance issues, repair costs, battery worries etc etc.

Polestar 2's do 3.7-6.8 to 60mph depending on spec. This car gave the impression it could only do 0-60mph in 10 seconds, must be something wrong. Be interested if you test it again, when everything is working. I thought it looked good for an electric car, nothing wrong with the interior.

I look at all of those options, settings, switches, and screens and look back in pleasure at the very first car I bought for £120 back in 77. This was a blue 1967 Vauxhall Viva 1100 saloon. A rusty pile of junk it may have been, but it was my rusty pile of junk and it worked most of the time. The great thing about it was that when it did not I knew why and how to fix it. Everything was so simple and easy to understand. The windscreen wipers worked and so did the heater and I did not require an A level in the subject to work out how to operate the relevant controls. Slide it to red for warm and blue for cold. It did everything that a car really needs to do which is get one from A to B eventually and preferably dry, and warm. Not confused half to death, burnt to a crisp, or bankrupted to the point of wishing that you had been. Yes, it seems that I turned into a dinosaur, but what can you do? I am sure that there must be at least a couple of things I like about this so-called modern world, but try as I might I can actually think of any.

As I've got a massive fine for daring to have a tiny sat Nav on the bottom of my windscreen , these crazy cars need putting on the scrap heap. You are driving the old FWD Single motor Polestar2 which has 170 kW (228 hp) - 0-60 in 6.8 secs, not the AWD 300 kW (402 hp) or the Performance Pack version 350 kW (469 bhp), ie. the slowest available Polestar 2. To add to that, whenever you are moaning about how slow it is, you can clearly see in the dashboard that you are using at best, 50% of the available acceleration. Even when you go for the dual carriageway to fully test the acceleration, you can clearly see your foot is not fully down (shown by the orange bar on the right of the dashboard) topping out at about 75% of the available power. However, I suspect that you never intended this to be a true review of this vehicle.

The next electric vehicle I drove was the Mustang Mach E and I was so surprised when it instantly launched as I touched the pedal. The power should be instant in electric vehicles. Just shows it’s best to test drive some first.
