Lee , you can't beat the range , reliability ( not going to catch fire on charge) and the sound , wise decision . My 911 carrera sounds Ummmph . No EV here , EVER !!

I used to drive an EV daily and when I sold it and went back to an ICE car my stress level dropped by a huge amount. No longer worried about making it home from work or getting stuck in a snow storm or sitting in my car messing with my phone when I could be somewhere else doing something useful. Just a massive stress release.

I used to drive an ICE car (a Mustang no less) now I drive a Tesla and my stress level us way down. No more gas price shock, no more having to go to a dealer for routine services and getting gouged for such privileges. I have taken numerous road trips including a 5000-mile trip with zero recharging problems thanks to the Supercharger network. I love the voice command function my Tesla comes with that makes buttons and switches redundant. I really enjoy watching his videos and reading the comments of his fellow EV haters. Just laugh my socks off .

There seems to be a lot of passion for one or the other? Why can't everyone simply appreciate the fact we have choice? EV or Hybrid or ICE Manual or Automatic or CVT Black or Blue or Bronze Apple or Android or Desktop Cash or Card or Paywave Beer or Spirits or Wine Etc, etc, etc Just admire the favourable qualities of the differences as they all ultimately achieve the same outcome. By the way, I have owned all three vehicle drivetrains and enjoy them all 👍

There's no better feeling than being at one with your motor and engaging with it , the sound , the extra input , the smell of burning rubber , the car shouting at you under engine braking and letting you know what's it's doing just by listening to it , it's simply joyous. The Leccy Loonies are a soulless bunch so perfectly understandable they don't get it. Seriously wish you well with the saving fund and hope it happens sooner rather than later.....you're a petrol head and deserve a real car mate.

Being a petrolhead, the noise of the car is it’s soul. The Porsche sounds AMAZING. The noise of my 5cylinder Volvo with a stainless exhaust and decent inlet is the best thing ever. I never get sick of the noise, the cackles on the overrun, the guttral growl under heavy acceleration - it’s addictive and it makes you feel alive! You can’t put it into words so I totally get how your felt driving that lovely motor. Every trip is an adventure!

A true manual gear box would be a big impact on the drive in my opinion

As soon as you opened the door of that gts, the traditional layout of instument knobs and switches was a soothing sight for sore eyes. It was a welcome relief from the ipad and overload of screens even for a viewer. There is a vestige of hope if only we can disband the groupthink who are forcing this unwanted technology, which is designed to control us rather than to allow us freedom of expression. Stan Meyer an American design engineer had a working prototype of an engine that ran on water, wierdly, he died suddenly after having refused to sell (relinquish) his engine design to various oil comany's.

The engine is the soul of the car..no engine, no soul. That's why EV's are appliances not cars. 👍🏻😎 Cayman GTS sounds EPIC! ❤

I think IC-cars will remain for another 40 years. EV is insanity.

Mac that's awesome.... just brilliant seeing you drive this car properly. You have to drop a gear every Tesla you see. I got a Jag v12 last year and do it all the time... take it into a tunnel and get it over 5,000 rpm boss.

A mate of mine is getting rid of his EV , even though he charges at home, he says his electricity bill has doubled.

​@@Spar_Hawkobviously no where near enough, if they are changing the car after buying a home charger etc, knew it would happen from the start, no tax, free charging at certain places (didn't last long), just like drug dealers with a free sample, then it's not free anymore.

The Taycan is a superb shape she JUST NEEDS A PROPER ENGINE. The Grey one does it for me.

Some cars have a light that goes off when reaching normal temperature. You're not meant to rev the engine excessively while the light is on. Great feature imo for engine longevity.

A proper car makes proper sense.

See, this is what I find very strange and contrived about all this. Lee is acting the part of a confirmed petrolhead. He's practically channelling Jeremy Clarkson. But confirmed petrolheads don't buy electric sports cars. It's a strange fact of life that some men (it's virtually always men) like the noise and the vibration of a powerful ICE engine, and even like changing gears. Each to his own. The point is that such men are not going to like electric cars, and will realise this the minute they sit in one. It's not exactly subtle. An EV is quiet and smooth and has no gears at all. Many people, I'd guess most people, actually *like* this. I can't count the number of people who've said to me that the minute they first drove an EV it was instant love, because of exactly the features the petrolheads hate. Nobody is forcing the petrolheads to buy electric sports cars. As Lee said, these things will still be on sale, new, for more than ten years from now. Nobody put a gun to his head and compelled him to buy the Taycan. I presume he didn't buy a £120,000 car without a test drive. What possessed him to pay out that sort of money, quite a lot more than an equivalent petrol model would have cost, for a car that he considered to be soul-less and unexciting? The car is bat-out-of-hell fast, handles beautifully, and has more gizmos than the Starship Enterprise. And yet Lee affects to despise it, for features he must have known it had before he bought it, features most drivers actually like. A lot. He complains that the car is soul-less, for much the same reasons. Again, why buy it, then? My EV has just as much character as the petrol GTi that preceded it, but it's a different character. That character was evident on the test drive. If I hadn't liked it, I wouldn't have bought the car. (There was a GTi centre right next door.) This is all an act, just as the contrived angst at the carefully-sought-out slow, broken and busy public chargers is an act. Lee charges at home with no effort and no delay whatsoever, just like the vast majority of EV owners do. Unlike them, when he hits the open road, instead of using his satnav and the apps to find the fastest, most convenient, unoccupied chargers, he goes to the old, slow, broken ones so he can have a moan about it. Ho hum. Then he takes on the persona of the petrolhead - which if it was genuine would have ensured that he didn't buy the Taycan in the first place - to smear the car as boring and unengaging. Ho hum again. If you don't want an EV, don't buy one. But why make a career out of telling lies about the cars to try to put other people off buying them? The smooth quiet ride with no gear changing is something most people really like. Along with the speed and the torque and the planted handling. And, of course the extremely cheap and convenient home charging. Just learn to read ZapMaps, or even your own car satnav if you have a big expensive car with that feature, to take any stress out of longer-distance travel, and enjoy a half-hour break every two or three hours. That's all there is to it. But Lee is coining it in from all the Luddite acolytes who get all riled up with fury about one of the best technological advances of this century. I expect he'll be able to get a new car quite soon. Will he really go back to petrol though? I wonder. Apart from anything else, without an EV to complain about, how is he going to keep his viewers coming?

When you showed us the tea bags that you were given, it reminded me of a tale I heard about the late, great Tommy Cooper. Apparently he was in a taxi, and when he got to his destination and he'd paid the driver, he leant forward from the back seat and slipped something in the taxi drivers pocket, tapped him on the shoulder, and said, have a drink on me. He'd given him a tea bag 😂🤣😂

Evs are a nightmare wait till it snows and its sliding all over the place then your stuck then the battery dies no heating these cars are not the way forward

All petrol and diesel cars are living breathing machines - electric and hybrids are just clinical and dead - you know what you have to do Lee ! You will never lose with that Cayman, she will only go up in price !

Imagine if it is a police patrol car stuck on the motorway while the car is performing a software update!

Not just in the UK either. The insurance has rocketed on all EV's globally.

The Taycan isnt a bad looking car at all its just the fact its electric. If it had a hand crafted V8 under the bonnet instead of fking batteries you would see a lot of them on the road

Many are also seeing the light, which is why EV's are stacking up on dealer forecourts.

I have owned my car since 2016. It's the only car i've ever owned that still makes me smile every time i drive it. It's the only car i've ever owned that i still look back at when i park it. It sounds like a monster. What is it? It's an E92 M3. V8 all the way mate!!

Great video, I can't afford a Porsche but you perfectly show why a car is a visceral experience and why people love ICE. Well done Lee.

No matter what happens with electric cars they will never give you that level of engagement. The only tingle you'll ever get from an electric car is if you stick your fingers across the battery terminals lol. Same as my motorbikes they just stimulate all your senses and you develop an emotional attatchment. Remember when road tests in magazines used to be exciting when they talked about how cars drove, steering feel, brake feel and handling? Now you see a review of an electric car and they might as well be talking about a fridge, it's all about range and charge times........yawn.

Lee I have just done some research on EV CARS there is 850,000 cars on the UK roads and ONLY 51,516 EV CHARGING POINTS ACROSS LOCATION IN THE UK can you imagine all 850,000 cars are on the road all at once and need to charge up and there is only 51,516 charging points in the UK there will be riots if half of the 850,000 EV CARS need to charge up. There reason why the UK GOVERNMENT won't tell the public everything you have put in your blog videos is the UK GOVERNMENT IS MAKING TO MUCH TAX OFF THESE EV CARS and the pubic have falling for all the BULL *HIT the government is telling them, good on you Lee to try and push the truth out there to the public. 😉😉

US dealer supply of stock for EVs is double that of ICE, they have 100 days worth of EV sales sitting in stock (50 For ICE). Hardly sounds like they are "flying out the door". They don't keep slashing EV prices to be your friend, they are slashing them to try and move them out the door, as they have a glut of stock. They just slashed the top spec EV Mini price by 30% here in Aus. Way to piss someone off that paid full price for theirs.

And you won't have to wait around for 2 hours while you "fill up". I watched the expression on your face when you started her, you're just a big kid mate (like me when I fire up my lovely Z4 35si). My Z4 is my 9th or 10th Beemer, and I also ran pre-war (ash frame) MGs 30 and 40 years ago (square riggers) - 0 to 60 by Wednesday but were actually nippy and sounded like a Spitfire with overhead cam engines. Agree. The connection with a car is spiritual, emotional, an excitement that lasts but in that quiet British way. Because of lack of useable limbs I drive an automatic. It's fine but the loss of participation is evident. Your a lucky man with these experiences and sharing with us, although I'm no Porsche lover, had an MGBGT in the day. Nothing like a Porsche but the pouring yourself into the seat and ass dragging the tarmac was there. Comfort and yes, AWD where I live thanks. Good video Mac.

Oh Lee, that was fabulous. What a fantastic car. You have to get one. The look on your face as it accelerates is worth every last penny of whatever it costs. This is what cars are supposed to do. Put a massive grin on your face and make you happy. None of this battery powered rubbish, internal combustion is where it's at. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Great stuff.
