I used to pop the cage part off with my bare hands back in the day on my 90s version. In fact with a little modding I switched cages with my 90s and 20th. Then when I opened my 20th the screen was actually stuck to the board, but it popped right off. Then I changed the paper background with my 90s version. Everything looks a lot brighter and better now.

Thanks for showing this! That DmX looks freaking good!, i really hope we get an english release with a better screen, but if not, i know i could always swap it with one from a 20th 😂

Yeah it looks SO GOOD. I'm bummed about my English 20th slightly but it's an easy replacement where the X is now not only better but it sustained zero damage lol

Thank you for showing us the inside of a english 20th. It is diffirent from the japanese 20ths (The sound chip is soldered via wire on them like the old 1997 ones) I was hoping to be able to put my english 20th inside one of my japanese shells. Guess i will have to wait to see if they do a wave 2 and if they have that nice gold or black color/coloured ones. Also i found the screen contrast is via the glass/plastic screen itself rather then the board. Or at least with the 1997 versions. The screen icons are also on the screen itself too, so you can only really use the 20th screen in a device which has the exact same icons as well. I accidently put a tamagotchi screen in a 1997 digimon, the results were...interesting. I am happy you got the results you wanted, some of them 20ths contrast are indeed way too dark. No problem! Thanks for commenting! I feel like overall the added thickness of the speaker may not make it compatible with the Japanese shells. The English 20ths are not the exact same mold from what I've heard.

@@Xanaxdu The english shells feel a bit more durable then the japanese ones in my opinion. Not going to complain about that bit because i can be a bit heavy handed at the best of times. I agree with you on the speaker getting in the way. The rubber part of it is alot thicker than the old coin like speaker of the japanese 20ths.

Anyone know if theres a way to rotate the screen counter clockwise?

Yea the speaker wires fell out of my pen20th but it was because I opened it up quite frequently. Now I'm in the process of trying to solder them back on but can't find wires small enough at my local stores to use for soldering them because the original ones are just to short and small for my big hands

Buy a cheap toy with electronics and take the wires from there

Do the DMX and dm20 board screws match up at all like say I like the color of the shell of an x but wanted the 20th experience could I swap the boards around to have the look and vpet type I wanted

i was kind of bummed out after seeing how bad the screen of the digimon x compared to the tamagotchi gen 1 rerelease. the tama's screen can be viewed from almost any angle but the digimon has a very narrow view angle compared to it. also it's a pity that the digimon screen turns off after not using it for a minute. i wish it would be adjustable.

Bro as i know japan dm20 is darker if compare to US dm20. Is there a way to make it brighter instead exchange the screen from US to japan unit？

I dont know if the Ver3 are the much different than Ver1, but when I swapped a English 20th with the DMX Ver3, the Ver3 was faded and I was only able to see the screen when tilted at about 60 degrees. Any idea why this is happening or anyway to make it darker on the DMX ver3?

I think the X3 is just coded to make the screen really light. There's no way to change it sadly

I don't think the graphics would line up. your best bet would be to replace it with another 20th screen

Is there a polorizing filter on these? I would love to bipvert mine and add a back light.

The X I show off in this video is the Japanese one. The American ones have a different speaker setup so no wires inside

The speaker on the English 20th is rubbish, i done the conversion putting an English 20th in old school V-Pet. I ended up putting the old speaker back in the case and soldered it to the 20th board, now i have a spare 20th speaker. Check out my video and facebook page facebook.com/dadbodmon
