This is insanity. To edit a video of this scale would normally take a week at least. But the amazing team managed to pull off this gargantuan edit in just two days! Big shout out to Marcus, David, Lucas and Ross for making it happen and delivering an almost 40 minute episode. Special thanks to Yasu for finding out about this island and to Ozaki san (the owner) for letting us on to film! You can find his much more easily accessible campsite near Tokyo at the link here! www.masaruhills.com/ JOURNEY ACROSS JAPAN continues with Connor joining us for several more episodes - or what's left of him after this episode and his 2 hours of sleep.

Springing cold weather camping especially is how you die or get hurt. During the warmer months it's really a lot easier to just wing it for a night at least if it's not raining or something like that. I know someone who went camping spontaneously during early October here in Germany. Suddenly there was a massive rain storm and the temperatures dropped and they didn't have enough protection from the elements and had they not managed to get to a train station to huddle in they probably would have gotten hypothermia or something like that at the very least.

I really hope this was a thorough learning experience for Chris. Lesson notes: 1. You cannot enjoy camping without preparing and acquiring appropriate gear. 2. Camping by a body of water makes for an especially cold night. 3. You can never fully trust someone else to supply all the gear you need to be comfortable and enjoy the experience. 4. Surprise camping is usually not fun, it's survival. 5. The more insulation between you and the cold ground, the better. 6. Removing your outer layers of clothes helps you sleep. 7. Tents primarily provide a barrier against wind and rain, while blankets, tarps, air pockets, and cushions provide barriers against heat loss or gain. 8. Biodegradable wet wipes can make any trip more comfortable and hygienic. Bonus: 1. Hot soups, stews, and drinks tend to help people going to and getting out of cold sleeping arrangements. 2. Being a stanky, Kentucky fried man-child is a bit disgusting and makes people not want to share an onsen with you. So, grow TF up and use the bidet.

I was honestly expecting Natsuki to make a surprisingly introspective haiku entirely in Japanese just to surprise us all but no. It's better. It's... it's magical. It's a perfect descriptor of the situation you're all in. The setting. The situation. The grim conclusion to it all that once again plays with death, as so many death poems during the Sengoku Era went. And it doesn't even follow the 5-7-5 rule, paralleling Natsuki's rebellious nature in the face of almost certain destruction. It's perfect. It's got my vote. Yes actually looking at what they were doing really was difficult sometimes. Sad how 1st not informing Connor left him unprepared (also not able to help plan) and 2nd just leaving important things just up to him when knowing the night was gonna go below freezing with a shit summer sleepingbag & no insulated pad. Yeah no shit it was miserable. As someone that guides friends while camping that shit is stressfully, you want them to be comfortable. This should have been Chris his responsibilities especially as he didn't inform Connor. But now he had to do it all without any preparation.
