We miss my dad so much too. It’s so hard watching our mothers lose their person and try to navigate life around it. At 71 and overcoming a HUGE “I will NEVER do it!” fear of flying... we’re packing for her first flight to SF tomorrow! It’s important to do what we can for them once we become adults. ❤️

I'm soooo glad that you stuck with making the beautiful dress from scratch. Especially when two sewing machines broke on you, and you had to sew by hand, then relying on pattern sizing it wasn't right for your mom😢, so you upsized it. Then .... perfection🥳🥳🥳🥳🎊🎉🎊🎉💯💯💯

First of all my heart goes out to you & your mom. What a wonderful way to show love. I'm pausing at time stamp 4:03 to say, leaving lots of space betime pattern pieces is potentially a waste of material. Abuelita taught me to pin pieces as close together as possible to maximize our resources.

It makes sense to leave extra space if you're a beginner or if you're not exactly sure of the person's measurements. When you have extra material you can make it bigger with out adding awkward seams. This was actually needed in this video since the dress was a bit too small for her mom initially.

You are both so beautiful, and so was your dad. This was amazing to watch, even though the tears

I'm so sorry about your husband mom... My dad passed away 4-19-19 and they have been married since 69... a month before their wedding ann. he passed away from cancer :( and you are such a beautiful great daughter ... I love the bond you both have :)

Beautiful dress

Vivian did a good job with the dress and problem solving when she hit a wall, but it hurts my heart when people don't read equipment manuals. So many of her questions (i.e. winding the bobbin, changing the needle, etc) would've been answered there.

This is so sweet and such a good idea! I sew and so far my mom has only gotten an apron. She loves tho.
