Why do people call objects “her?” I don’t get it.

I need some help, can someone (who has the time and emotional energy) tell me why its not offensive for people to name clothing with the female gender? I see it everywhere, especially pm American videos, I can't seem to process why it isn't comparing women to objects. I would greatly appreciate assistance in my education, again, time and energy permitting.

I think it’s just a saying. People say “I don’t know her” in reference to many things. I understand why you would think it is weird to gender items but in languages like Spanish objects have a gender technically. They have a masculine and feminine form of the word “the” and some words end in “o” or “a” which helps determine which form of “the” to use. I’m not sure if it makes sense but Americans also gender other things as “her” like ships for example.

but like why ya'll complaining about the outfits when it's your own clothes? hahaha
