Hi Tim, apparently The Lady in Red was stabbed and strangled between rooms 502 and 504 on the fifth floor not 512. Her room was split into three separate rooms, 502, 503, and 504. While 504 is now officially the Lady in Red-themed room-lavishly festooned with scarlet curtains, a flowy bed canopy, and matching period furniture-more activity has actually been reported in room 502 Loving your videos. The smell is the haunting. There are often chemicals being given off in these very old buildings, sometimes very low level carbon monoxide from heating systems and other chemicals from older paints, carpet cleaner etc. These play with the brain and cause "haunting". A clean hotel with clean smell and nice fittings will VERY rarely be reported as haunted. This one is playing on all the stereotypes :)

I've stayed at the Mizpah Hotel twice. It's worth mentioning that the town lies in the middle of the remote high desert between Reno and Las Vegas. Part of the spooky vibe I got was rolling into town after sunset through some of the darkest night skies that you can imagine. The sign on top of the hotel is the brightest beacon of light after driving several hundred miles through some very remote territory. There's a small casino next door and a whiskey bar across the street. The town is very dog friendly. I don't think it was literal dog smell in the hallway, though dogs are welcome at the hotel (I brought mine). To me, it smells musty, similar to many historical B&B's in the UK. This is probably the nicest hotel in NV between Vegas and Reno on US 95. If you're a light sleeper, you may be awakened by the many long-distance trucks that barrel through town all hours of the night. You might have had an older mattress on your bed. I recall the beds to be quite comfortable. If you do want to freak yourself out a little, leave your room and go down the stairs to the lobby in the middle of the night. They keep the hallways very dark.

Gorgeous building. Proof that you can own an old hotel and still keep it clean and pleasant (Britannia, take note!). Or maybe they knew you were in the room with the wailing window and decided that was hair-raising enough!

One of the ghosts in my house likes Jazz music and has lately been tampering with the Google nest mini in my bedroom and it's been playing jazz music on full blast at various times of the day and night. So I'd be quite happy to stop there.

Tonopah is a great place, and the Mizpah is a fantastic hotel. I think my wife and I once stayed in the very room in which you stayed. She and I organized the 74th West Coast Science Fantasy Conference (Westercon 74) in Tonopah, using the Mizpah, the sister hotel the Belvada, other local hotels, and the convention center, in July 2022, and we had more than 150 people who came from all over the USA for a four-day event here. Nearly everyone was just captivated by the town. We love this town and cannot wait to come back for another visit.

Lady in red that sounds spooky. Can’t help thinking of that dreadful song of the same name. Those pictures are major eerie and spooky. Those people look not the most pleasant. Keep up the fab vlog Tim. Fab as always

Hi Tim. It looked brilliant for an old hotel and well kept up. It did have a spooky feel to it but otherwise it didn't seem scary at all.

I think the pictures on the walls helps make it spooky looking. Back in the gold rush days, that would have been a very busy area.

I didn't count how many times you said spooky, but I think it would take some doing to beat that count! 😄 What a great place, so much history and just so interesting, though I did hold my breath a lot of the time just waiting for something......spooky 😁

Looks and sounds spooky. I think the howling wind and creaky floors would keep me awake. I stayed in an old hotel in Scotland and people walking up and down the hallway at all hours, too noisy.

Oof so creepy. The photos in particular I found very spooky. Something about the decor, so dark and old fashioned, adds to the atmosphere. Well done for being able to walk around alone ‘cos I couldn’t have done it. 😂

The look of the building and all things around takes you back to another time and also can condition you to feel fear. Great though making the most of what they have.

Hi Tim. Thanks for sharing this haunted but interesting hotel. You're very brave to spend a night there. I don't think I could sleep well. I would be paranoid thinking someone touched me, etc. Would Gaby stay here with you? I would definitely take my hubby to stay here with me. I like the photos & that huge empty bar. Very vintage. Cheers Tim, you're a champ

Great, loved watching that. I happened across this hotel a few years ago when travelling with my 3 children. I had driven for miles that day after google maps took us down extraterrestrial highway so we were already a bit on edge. I had no prior knowledge of the Mizpah and only ended up there after the western down the road tried to charge me 250 dollars for a room. Whilest chatting with the receptionist my daughter spotted the guest book and tugged at my arm to tell me about the book of ghostly encounters! The receptionist said ah dont worry its only the fifth floor but you can take a look at your room and decide if you want to stay. So we piled into the very small lift and pressed 2 for our floor. Suddenly, in absolute horror I realised the lift was taking us to the 5th floor! we all freaked right out but then my son pointed out it only looked like the number 5 because of the mirrors and it was infact a backwards 2. We didn't even walk into the room as the kids were adamant they weren't staying after seeing the gloomy corridoor and photos, baring in mind we still didn't really understand the theme of the place, we just thought what the hell is this place! 20 minutes later I was walking back into the great western with my credit card in hand. To us, arriving after dark after such a massive drive, we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere and tbh still felt weird in the western hotel, we hadn't even seen the Clown Motel, that would have finished us off I think.
