This video was on point. Also, I found the illustration intriguing. The main Satanist compared a bad man murdering innocent people to a good God killing murderers, rapists, and people of the like. See the problem? It's conflating killing with murdering. I think we can all agree, when U.S. soldiers killed Nazis in battle, that was justified. After all, the Nazi "party" was full of murderers, rapists, and people of the like, too. To further my point, here's a paraphrased illustration from Dr. McGee: "In the middle of the night, a man breaks in the room of a little girl, takes her in his car, and drives off. Screaming, crying, and begging to be brought back home, the girl is taken to the middle of a dark room and tied to a bed, where a man stabs her in the chest." That sounds pretty despicable, doesn't it? Well, what if I told you the girl had cancer, and the first man was her father, while the second man was her doctor. What if I told you, if not for that doctor, she would have died. It doesn't matter what she wanted. While it was painful and not pretty at all, rushing her to that doctor was the right thing to do. It was tough love. Tough love is doing what's right, no matter how much it may hurt.

@@ofpenandpaper2922: I get that you were going for the message of context mattering, but I feel like having the daughter be stabbed against her will wasn’t a good analogy. It would’ve been better if it was like a hospice care leading to euthanasia. There’s no way I can equate someone screaming before dying as that of a merciful and loving Father. My issue isn’t with God at all. It’s how you presented it, which I don’t feel was an accurate explanation of what God meant.

  • @ofpenandpaper2922

@@shadowspector3611, I apologize for the way it came off. Like I said in my previous comment, that illustration was my paraphrasing of an illustration by Dr. McGee, and I must not have presented it clearly enough. I was not meaning to say the girl was killed. What I was getting at is she would have died of cancer if that knife wasn't stabbed into her and the cancer wasn't taken out. In other words, the father and doctor did not kill her, but they got her the surgery she needed. They saved her life. Can I just say, I commend you for getting the message out of it, despite the confusion I caused, and I commend that you did not blindly follow what I said but questioned it. Context is king, and we make sure we are getting the context before we go along with the messages of others.

I was raised Buddhist and there are a lot of comparisons in what they are saying that I can hear. I am a born again Christian and I can’t even begin to express how much Jesus has saved me from darkness. I used to think of ending my life every second of everyday, it was very natural for me because… “I could just try again in the next one”…. something I was raised to believe is an absolute inevitability. I mentioned to my mom that possibility that just maybe, she is wrong and we will all receive judgement weather we believe in it or not… and she laughed at me. I am a healthier person in every way because of God’s work in my life and His importance to me. My life finally has meaning. I’m not so self centered, angry, full of resentment and judgement toward people. Stuck in this never ending loop of LOA, manifestation and meditation rituals, always “looking inward” but never finding any answers. I’ve received now a peace with everyone whose ever wronged me. Including all my past mistakes. I was VERY BITTER and pompous before I came to Christ. These people remind me of that old self I was conditioned to be.

Its humbling because before Christ I may not have been a satanist but i was just as lost as they are. We are all in need of Jesus. I am a new creation because of Christ. Anyone can be born again. Even now if they decide to humble themselves at the cross the Lord would welcome them and call them as His own. The old nature would be replaced. If you say yes, you'll enjoy their company and the good things they bring to your life. If you say no, you won't have their presence or their gifts." In the context of faith, God desires a close relationship with us, and being in His presence is what we call Heaven. One of our units was satanism and Anton LaVey and lemme tell you, that guy was one messed up man. He's the one that wrote the satanic "bible" (quotations mine) and I had to read a few chapters of it for a paper and it was nonsensical. It makes sense from a secular point of view, but then when you actually think about it for more than two seconds, it makes no sense. LaVey wrote about Lucifer and demons and them being real and parts of satanistic rituals. These people don't even know what the nine statements are, because they all talk about who satan is and how his example is what humans should strive for. The fact that people even ascribe to this sinful, secular "religion" is absolutely insane to me as someone who's studied even the surface level of Anton LaVey's life

It wasn't just a one time thing that the people of the day were doing. It wasn't just choosing not to go to church for one day, or something like that. God had given them chances upon chances, and the world was so bad that there was almost no way for the world to be saved. As a person whose read up on Satanism i think i should explain... Satanism does *Not* believe in a literal Satan, instead comes from the hebrew word "Satan" meaning "adversary" or "opposer", one who questions. They are regular people who do not believe any sort of deity or supernatural being, but still have rules: 1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked. 2.Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them. 3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there. 4. if a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy. 5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal. 6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved. 7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained. 8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself. 9. Do not harm little children. 10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food. 11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him. That is all it is, nothing else.

To clarify, what you are quoting are the Eleven Satanic Rules from LaVeyan Satanism as promoted by Antov LaVey. The more common form of Satanism practiced today is that of the Satanic Temple. The tenets of the Satanic Temple in this video were brushed aside as "don't want to go through all of these they're just not that interesting". I do find it interesting that specifically 4 and especially 7 were skipped. I'll share them here so that people may decide for themselves whether it is interesting or not. 1. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason. 2. The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions. 3. One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone. 4. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own. 5. Beliefs should conform to one's best scientific understanding of the world. One should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit one's beliefs. 6. People are fallible. If one makes a mistake, one should do one's best to rectify it and resolve any harm that might have been caused. 7. Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

I know this is an old comment, but I'll go ahead and respond anyway. Aside from the fact that you can't eat that much, you're leaving out some key details in terms of the concept of rebellion in Satanism, specifically that we should accept our humanity and do things that brings us pleasures as long as it doesn't hurt other people and in accordance with reason; Use your logical skills and ability to rationally think to make decisions, you are smart enough to where you don't need someone to tell you to not eat 1000 burgers, or at least I hope you are. A rational person wouldn't eat 1000 burgers a day considering the fact that its impossible impractical financially and timewise, and would lead to health problems. A rational person would consider these and say "Yeah, I probably shouldn't eat 1000 burgers for these reasons." A theistic person would more than likely say "I shouldn't eat 1000 burgers because God/the Bible says so." But hey, if you want to try that, then by all means, try it and see how much it helps you. As you said, God calls it gluttony, but the exact standard as to what makes something gluttony (if I eat a lot at a thanksgiving/Christmas dinner, is it gluttony? What if I haven't eaten in a day and I eat a lot to compensate, is that gluttonous, etc.) is kinda unclear. Even if it was clear, we can rationalize and make the judgement call, since we have the capability of doing it. It's interesting how some theist downplay what we as humans are capable of and try to assume that we can't make decisions for ourselves.

Yeah the "Christians Reacts" in the titled explains a lot. Let me, an actual satanist, explain what satanism is. Satanism can be split into two types, Atheistic and Theistic. Atheistic satanists believe in what satan represents, which is loving your self, not owing anything to a higher power, and nobody being above anyone else. Meanwhile Theistic Satanists believe in Baphomet as a supernatural deity. Please do research before "debunking" a VERY real religion that people follow. :)

One important thing you didn't mention is that the vital aspect of Satanism is that rebellion is almost made a holy act. Usually against old ways. Loving yourself and equality are viewed by many as a rebellion, especially those that have resentment towards Christianity Meanwhile, theistic Satanism usually believe in Satan as a pagan deity. There are some extreme sects that believe in being as evil as possible. But that's so few of them, it only really exists in one country.

Being a Satanist myself, I often view it as a willing ignorance just like others who hold faith in an ideal or god, but frankly even with myself as a god I don't care to sway others, I tend to the garden that is my life and I water and pluck the plants as I see fit. My actions are to be constructive, even in this very comment I am aiming to calm the fears, hatred or otherwise negative feelings of others. You can follow your god, I know that idea brings you comfort and so I will respect it, but I am not one for idle comforts, I love this world and I love myself, so simply respect my things as I respect you and we'll all get along just fine. I wish you all a pleasant day, night and the very best wishes for your safety.
