This is the most real, relatable, honest iTalki review on KZread. Paid "sponsored" videos from others are pretty much a waste, because they are essentially a commercial. These nine minutes FLEW by. Straight to the point information, with empathetic vibes. As a language learner, and an iTalki newbie, I could relate to your tornado of mixed feelings of frustration, excitement, motivation, anxiety, gratification, and anti-socialness...the feeling of not wanting to do a lesson...doing it anyway...and then being happy that you did. These kind of videos motivate me. Thank you. Subscribed. 👍

Ok, your channel is hilarious! I'm also studying Spanish, and had my first iTalki lesson about 10 days ago. I've had three different teachers. I have been meeting with a teacher from Colombia who doesn't speak English and I barely speak spanish, but it's so cool how we just sort of made the conversation work. It wasn't pretty, and she had to be super patient with me but I left the conversation feeling motivated to keep working hard.

@@claysoggyfries Not necessarily. Native spanish speaker just indicates that the person grew up with Spanish being spoken at their home/country. Perhaps there was another language spoken at their home as well such as English. Maybe the person learned more English than Spanish while growing up. They might be anywhere between A1 up to upper B2 so they could do basic conversations but nothing very complicated. Now if someone were to say I'm a C2 Spanish speaker then yea you would expect them to be fluent/expert at Spanish.

As a native spanish speaker (I am from Honduras), I am so impressed of your Spanish level. You have a beautiful accent and a great gramally, I think that one of the most dificult things when you learn Spanish is the amount of accent that we have, but you are practicing with teacher from others countries and that is going to help you a lot!. I hope you continue like this. Bienvenida a la comunidad Hispana, a mi Japonesa favorita ^3^!!! Greeting!!

Aw thank you so much for such a lovely message!🥰🤍
Since last year i've done 40 over lessons on Italki in my target language, all community tutors. I usually take 1-2 lessons per week max. That's because I believe it's important for me to internalise all the new expressions and vocabulary taught by my tutor before the next lesson, so I can use the words as practice for the next lesson, plus my tutor doesn't waste time correcting me about the same thing over and over again. I also teach on Italki and I tell my students this too. For those who are anxious about starting on Italki, don't worry and just go ahead to book your first lesson! Pretty sure 5 minutes into the lesson you'd have forgotten all that nervousness, unless the tutor is really bad (in which case you just find another tutor).

You were great!!! just a note, most Spanish speaking natives and instructors like to speak with English speakers willing to speak their language are for the most part and are very helpful and really appreciate the fact that you are interested in communicating with them in their native language. Keep it up, I'm considering becoming a community tutor to teach Spanish for English speakers. Buena suerte!

hi! your video came up on my recommendations since I've been planning to take on italki for quite some time now. im SOOO glad i clicked on your video because honestly, this motivated me so much and i relate to a lot of the things you've said here as well! I'm currently learning Nihongo, for almost two years now, and while I can understand the basic grammar structures already, a part of me is a bit frustrated that i still couldn't speak till now. Thank you so so much for this video! I'll definitely try italki very, very soon because of this. Thank you once again and good luck to us!
Thank you for this I’ve been doing Spanish for a little while but ventured into italki this is helping me give the push I need. I’ve had quite a lot of convo exchanges but I could do with some lessons to help push past the upper intermediate barrier !

hahaha watching you struggle with being nervous about trying to speak in spanish to people you don't know makes me feel waaayyy better that i have 2 coworkers who barely speak english because i dont feel scared to try and speak with them in spanish because i have to try or we just go straight to google translate and they dont hesitate to correct me if we can actually manage understand what i'm talking about. being around them every day definitely helps with keeping up my spanish practice. ive only just started learning about a month and a half ago and so far im doing okay lol and it helps a lot that they are also trying to learn english so we can correct each other and it helps us both learn. one of my coworkers is from colombia and the other is from venezuela so it's super interesting to hear the difference in phrases and accents on certain words they say. spanish is super fun though! also to make a long comment even longer i downloaded language transfer and i really love it! his tips and the way he explains things is really helpful to breaking down and putting together sentences. so thanks for the rec!!! anyway haha hope you're doing well!

damn that was after 2 months?!!! I have been putting off Spanish as I am currently learning mandarin but this inspires me.
I used it for Russian for 3 months. After learning on Rosetta for about a year. (Which I kind of don’t recommend Rosetta Stone as a sole platform.) italki is amazing.
I am facing an obstacle now. I do not want to spend months on level A1 by just reading textbooks and completing exercises. but all the teachers i engaged are only willing to do free topic conversations only, which apparently i feel a high beginner or low intermediate will do. And all my teachers change our agreed approach on the second lesson onwards. I am constantly being cheated to have lessons with them for them to start becoming unprofessional.
Aweome . I use italki once a week You just inspired to do it once a week . I will have to try this everyday. Gracias
I signed up for italki as I've been putting it off and now have my first trial spanish session tomorrow. I thought I would watch a video review and yours came up. I enjoyed your video and think I'll give Italki ago. I'm nervous but like what you said about being humble ... New sub 😄

Orotava town, Isle of Tenerife, Spain, Africa. Hey Emmy! =D It's me, Patrick! Well done, kiddo! Your Spanish is amazing, as I witnessed when you were over here, volunteering with us, such good times! I freaked out at how unprofessional and condescending that first Italki teacher was, interrupting your Spanish with his English ("It's normal, it's normal", so easily understood but not condescending if he'd just said it in Spanish, what you're paying for:"Es normal, es normal"), the worst thing you can do to a student when they're feeling insecure while speaking the target language, something I would never inflict on any student of mine, as I also teach on Italki. (I'm pretty sure he then infringed on some copyright protocol, distributing third party published material.) Well done, Emmy! Come back to Spain soon!
