emi grace

Hey there 🫶🏼 I'm Emi, a half Japanese, half American girl from Tokyo, Japan, now living in the gorgeous country that is South Africa 🇿🇦

I started this channel to hold myself accountable for my Spanish studies, documenting my Spanish study progress for a year, and eventually reaching a B2 level.

I no longer actively study Spanish, but I'm passionate about film making, and I make content about travel, culture, and languages (and I definitely still have a huge love for everything Latin American)!

Not sure where this KZread thing will take me, but I'm for sure enjoying the journey-- and I'd love if you could be a part of it as well!
Sending you my love and thanks for reading this ;)

🤍

Interesting story. Seemingly SA tends to get a bad rep from the "first world economy" diaspora (unfairly so in my view). Many, from the States especially; upon landing on our shores, end up in tears/regret for having not come sooner in their lives. We sure do have our problems, however SA is well-endowed with some beautiful landscapes and some of the most diverse fauna and flora environments. Another thing I've heard expats gushing more and more about... THE PEOPLE. I just know, you will fall more in love with this country as you get to visit more destinations within. All the best wishes on your sojourn in Mzansi.

The Champion Toffee you didn't like is actually deeply rooted in many older generations of South Africans. The iconic toffee brand produced by a company known as Candy Tops and which was for a long time actually known more popularly as Wilson's Champion Toffees (or just "Wilsons") has actually been around since the 1940's and synonymous with many a South African childhood memories. Later the company changed hands and subsequently from there on things went down hill. So much so that hundreds of people lost their jobs after legal battles at it's plant in the Eastern Cape in 2016. That said, its great that such an icon is still around... eventhough not liked by all but still loved by many.

I think if you don't understand why PE is great, you'll never understand it. And the fact that so many South Africans don't think PE is great, is why it remains such a gem for those of us who love it - It keeps it peaceful! ☺ Also, Emi, it's so funny that you should mention that God sent you there, because the first time and second I moved there was because God had called me to work there for my church. It changed my life and became my favourite city in South Africa. Also, when I was there, I saw God everywhere and in everything (especially at Sards 🥹).

Thanks! I really enjoyed the video. Question: Which church are you talking about? Because I happen to know a church in PE that has ties with a church in Isle of Man... As a South African living in Latin America, I love your videos! I actually found new Spanish music thanks to your previous post about starting with Spanish again. I especially enjoy Madiel Lara's music. God willing, I hope that I can meet you one day. Also, thanks for sharing about your faith. It's great! You're brave. Your testimony is so cool. God is faithful. Also, cool video editing. And I agree: South Africa has so much flavour! Praise the Lord.

NO NO NOOOO!!! Your ratings were so far off on some of these items, it pains me as a South African to hear the saaad critique! You have to be a South African to appreciate those black toffees, those were the bomb! Fizzers, again, you had to have grown up eating those to appreciate them, adults buying them is a bit too childish. Chomp! weh ma mehhhh!!! It was the best chocolate for kids on a very tight budget, that's a legacy chocolate and deserves BOKKE position, other people just won't get it! And who in their right mind doesn't put Creme Soda and Granadilla twist in Bokke? Crazy people, that's who! As for ouma rusks and all this "Its dryyy" nonsense..Tsek!! Dip it in tea or coffee first before saying its dryyyy! (I just can't at this point!, no more destroying my entire childhood here!)

Hi Emi Grace, (and everyone around here) at first, I want to say thank you for introducing this amazing app and the project as a whole (which is so much more than just the app) to your audience! I understand your excitement about the app being *actually* free! (No hidden costs, like in other apps) However, you also mention that this is the work of just One person… who, by the way, has been working on this for 12+ years now, as far as I understand. Now, as someone who’s been searching for work myself for years and years, I imagine it must be Beyond. frustrating. if people just spread the word about this project but very few people Actually care enough about it to commit to reliably supporting it, so it can actually grow and be edited and improved by native speakers and with multimedia content to enhance the learning experience even further even have more impact. (Maybe some of you have heard about the fact that the human brain is capable of so much more than being fed with masses of information (like a calf that is supposed to grow as fast as possible to be slaughtered as soon as possible for a never-satisfied meat industry… literally like *swallow-it-or-die* -just for illustration) Now, my point was that the human brain can much more easily digest and RETAIN information, if that information is presented in various ways (like audio and video) so the brain can make cross-connections to other areas of information and consequently later has more than one pathway to accessing the information when it is needed in practical application. Say on a holiday or in a shop or theatre or…you name it. - Long story short: If you Do think this app has been helpful to you in a considerable way: Why don’t you ask yourself if you could maybe survive with one Starbucks-Coffee or one hamburger less in a month and invest that sum, which you might otherwise be spending on makeup or technical gadgets etc, into the growth and development of this project? Just imagine the potential of it, if more people of conflicting countries and cultures would be able to speak each other’s language. Please do consider if you want to put some actual value behind your words of excitement, so that this Guy can actually make a living from it and even hire a team… #thinkabpotitPlease. Have a good and blessed weekend everyone.🫡🕊️🙏🏼

Great to have you... While the main purpose of prayer may be to help others, it never demonstrably does that. Prayers benefit only those believers who say or hear them. Prayer gives them comfort. It lets them think they have some control over a situation that may be out of their hands. It’s the last resort of people who have run out of ideas. This is not harmless. There’s a very real downside to praying. It lulls believers into a false sense of accomplishment. We cannot solve our problems - much less the world’s - through prayer. We often see people with good intentions praying for victims in the wake of a tragedy, but prayer is useless without action, and those actions make the prayers IRRELEVANT. I have no problem with “prayer” as an act of meditation. In fact, many atheists can tell you the benefit of silent self-reflection. The delusion occurs when you think someone else is hearing your thoughts and acting on them. To paraphrase the great Robert Green Ingersoll - hands that help are faaaaaaaaaar better than lips that pray...
