Personally i think it's all part of the tracking, if you live every waking second through a screen, then someone else in a control room can watch or playback live coverage. or simply these recordings will be great training data for 2 legged robots, as footage of tasks like cooking and house work could be recorded and used to help robots to replace you.

I think it’s more like 3d TV. Just not very practical for anyone who isn’t single, and not that fun for anyone who is single because there’s no real way to share the experience without dropping several thousand per set. I have an oculus 2 and even that has limited utility due to the social isolation it inherently causes.
