Reminds me of here in the US when congress was passing obamacare. The republicans put forward a proposal that they would pass it if they included a line in the bill about members of congress being required to use it instead of private health insurance as a sign of support in its quality. The democrats said no.

It’s not hard, it’s IMPOSSIBLE. There is no such thing as an NHS Dentist for new patients.

@@unbreakable7633 As I understand it, the NHS in Britain is the largest single corporate body on the planet beating out even the transportation system in India. Making it bigger makes no sense. A bureaucrat's wet dream. The layers of people, hoops, forms, departments, etc. between you and an actual doctor are almost incalculable. Plus they have to know everything about your life - EVERYTHING - to better "treat" you. And then you wait. In fact, it might be reasonable to label the entirety of Britain as one large waiting room.

Politicians are the same all over the world.

We are all in this together, and that includes ALL politicians as nothing will change under labour either.

Even getting a private dentist and paying has been a long waiting list

Its times like these you can be grateful to the government for caring about our teeth and giving us fluoride in the water. Imagine now much more dental care we would need without this industrial waste by-product!

He should be able to say that he doesn't need to as he can afford private dentistry. Truth is, NHS dentistry can be a shambles. I'm phobic and the only dentist I ever found who treated me humanely was private. So I have always saved up and gone there. No, I'm not wealthy. It's about priorities - i don't buy new clothes, make and mend, go abroad etc. Dentistry should be available on the NHS but people should have a choice.

The problem is people actually believe in doctors instead of taking care of their own health. Dentist? Eat properly and you don't need them. Doctors? Eat properly and you don't need them. I can't be the only one to notice, that Sunak and Trudoe behave like they came out of the same program. Both are sociopaths with that fake charming smile. And both never answered a question directly in their lives.

This is a typical result of socialized medical care that ignores basic market dynamics driven by human behavior. Give it away for free and demand increases more and more. There is no incentive for people to take better care of themselves, and those who do have to subsidize them. A publicly funded system also gives the dentist monopoly pricing power, not only due to excess demand but government regulations protecting their monopoly. The dentists will all be driving new cars and buying new houses in the near future.

No, it doesn't. The NHS was working until the billionaire class made strategic efforts to destroy it, among others flooding the country with immigrants, printing money out of thin air etc. Soon, they will lobby to privatise it. It was already done to the postal service and energy distribution. They use public funds to build a service, then destroy it, and then lobby through corrupt politicians to privatise. I could use your logic and say that Black Friday in 1929 that caused the Great Depression is clear sign that capitalism doesn't work.

The problem with the nhs is that the money it is given instantly gets spuffed up the wall by the money wasters at the top.

England has been Anglo-Saxon for like 1200 years... it's kind of interesting that their leader is decidedly NOT Anglo-Saxon. How would he know what it's like to try to get a dentist appointment on the NHS? It's private all the way for him.

I moved area and since then it's been impossible for me to register as an NHS patient at any dentist. They just don't accept any new people at all. So glad I've been putting medicinal insurance since I was 19, 25 years for nothing.

He doesnt even know how to use a credit card he is so filthy rich, he cannot possibly know what it is like to be ordinary. How can these people be in the position they are in within the House Of COMMONS, they are there because they think they know better than the plebs, and they want to make a difference--what a load of balls that is.

Relying on an NHS dentist is a MASSIVE false economy as corners are cut and all treatments are done to a price. I pay £16 a month for private which includes 2 check ups/scale polish plus 24hr worldwide emergency cover. When I last spoke to my dentist I think they said the waiting list is about a month and that's purely due to them losing a receptionist otherwise it would be instant. I work a minimum wage job and think £16/50p a day is easily affordable. I'm amazed people are so reliant on the piss poor NHS service to be honest 🤷.

There’s a lot of problems with the American healthcare system but I know I can call my dentist and have an appointment same-day or next-day. They also know that if they can’t see me, I may go elsewhere and continue to go to a competitor.
