I Saved Fish From an ABANDONED House!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

In today's video, I find an abandoned house that once belonged to a fish keeper, but after they died all of their stuff was left in the house... INCLUDING THEIR FISH! So I searched the creepy house at night in search of these fish, and after finding empty fish bowls and a beta fish, I found a room FILLED with fish tanks! The fish tanks were all filled with green water and the fish were barely alive and wouldn't live much longer without my help! So I netted out all of the fish I could including cichlids, gourami, angelfish, albino plecos, goldfish, oscars, AND MORE! But things took a turn when we started hearing creepy sounds inside of the house, as we found a MONSTER arowana, gar, and ripsaw catfish living inside of the green slime water! We took back all of the crazy fish we saved and put them into my backyard ponds where they will have a second chance at life! Should we go back and see what's living in the pond?

    From my understanding this was an older fish collector: probably someone that literally went fishing for the example "the alligator gar. And he/she didn't know where to place their collective fish: they were knowledgeable enough to place the biggest predatory fish in a tank by themselves which included "giant Oscar,the brown boney catfish,the arowana, etc. The tropical fish tank had the Angel and neon tetras: the tank with big goldfish(which I will say might have been their oldest living pet cause goldfish that monstrous tank over a decade to grow. The Asian red tail,was probably recently acquired cause there was a baby in their too. There was a Pleco in a tank(don't remember which,but ✋ I will say Pleco even giant Pleco will literally swallow anything that will get sucked into the mouths in one bite) The betas were eating the tails of other fish,cause why not they couldn't get to roaches 🪳 otherwise they would've left the other fish alone.. The spider 🕷️ in the first bedroom,probably was overwhelmed at the work it had to put in to kill all the roaches 🪳 it Good resident that would be to handle them on a short notice..so don't ever,ever in your lives Count the spiders out(they are doing the jobs they were designated for ) please it's paying it's rent 😅✋ leave them alone dangit .. The Koi angel fish and the albino oscars can go in the tanks alongside the tretas they are tank mates .. The guppies are true survivors 😢only lizards and being overheated would kill them off,and they go better water zones cause they were outside

    Ya, if it is”ich”, it’s a contagious fungal infection. Known for killing entire aquariums in lousy commercial pet stores. I purchased 3 Beta’s for my then 3 yr old daughter. Trying to do the sad, “hurry and replace it before she realizes it died” approach, as she was 3, and I didn’t want to cross that bridge yet, since we had an elderly pupper who was a dear family member and going to be a huge loss. Anyways, I was pissed by fish #3, as I grew up with fish, exotics, massive aquariums and ponds due to my father, and knew how to care for a beta. Turns out, while I thought I was smart and selected second and third fish from different shipments, petshit was not forthcoming that they had a problem and were treating all incoming shipments themselves for “ich”, and half the shipments were arriving 50/50 alive/unalive. So ya, I was a bit disappointed to see him just throw away that poor, sick, obviously older goldfish into that large public/community pond where it’s on its own, can’t be treated as it so desperately needs, and just contaminated the pond. SMH….

  • @mydogmyplantsandme

    @mydogmyplantsandme

    8 ай бұрын

    @Restlessgypzy Same, I've had fish as long as I can remember just until a few years ago. Ich can be devastating if untreated and is HIGHLY contagious. I wasn't happy to see that either. At the very least he could have taken him home and kept him separate from all the other fish, along with the fish he put the goldfish in with, and treated them. After they were healthy he could have put them in the ponds he wanted to place them in. It just blows my mind that so many people have just tossed their pet aquarium fish into local waterways. The typical aquarium fish shouldn't harm the local fish, but the predatory fish is another story. It's no different than all the carp in the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers killing off all the native fish because they're eating everything they find and the native fish starve. That sick goldfish is capable of killing every fish in Pond X.

    I commend you, young man, for being brave enough and caring enough to venture into this VERY spooky, abandoned house to rescue these fish from this awful situation. You absolutely saved their lives. When you said the owner died and the electricity was off and the tanks didn't have oxygen or filtration or food, I wasn't expecting that you would find anything alive. I am surprised how many individuals you found alive...especially that Betta in the bowl of very nasty, green water. It literally looked like green liquid, lime flavored jello. I am glad you found him and the little guppies as well as the bigger fish. You said that the previous owner, who died, didn't have any family or close friends...these fish became there family, it seems like. This isn't just ONE tank with a couple of fish in it. This person clearly made this their hobby to collect these beautiful fish. I'm sure the owner is grateful that someone rescued their fish and is now caring for them.

    You are so amazing for saving these poor animals after they've been neglected for who knows how long. For the goldfish, I would probably try methelene blue. It works wonders on fungal infections. Use a q-tip to rub it on the fish's scales. My betta fish got fin rot, and after we put methelene blue on it, he was good as new!

    So glad to see you do this for these fish! Not many would. Kudos!!! I almost was like the person who died. I had 8 fish tanks, the two largest being 110 gallons each. The two biggest tanks were large Angelfish and Clown Loaches. The others were community tanks. I loved my aquariums and had all my tanks fully stocked. I took really great care of them all and worrying about them in the hospital actually worsened my condition. I finally had to make a choice of dying by going back home or taking the time it took to get friends to find possible adopters. I suddenly got sent into the hospital back in 2016 for heart failure and was in the hospital for 3 months and a separate care facility for 2 more months. I nearly died twice in the hospital. I had paid rent for the entire time but once I left the hospital, I was required to go into a charity care facility and that was going to be for months. I was unemployed and unemployable and had no money left. Because I had previously had a large income, no charity would help me. I had no family at all and no friends willing to help me go in and care for them let alone adopt them. I finally found a person who would take the tanks and all the fish after 2 months of no care or electricity. I had to give him all my tanks and accessories to get him to take the fish as the apartment would charge me thousands if I left them. The manager said they would just drain the tanks and throw them and anything inside in the trash. Fish stores or shops or most hobbiests here won't take fish even if given. When we went into the apartment after being gone 2 months, all the fish were amazingly still alive except some missing which I assume were cannibalized. But man, the fish poop and stale water smell was incredibly bad. And just like here, the big grass roaches were all over around the aquariums. They thrive on what the smells and stale water provide. I was so embarrassed that I had to let it get like that. But lack of any friends or family willing to help while I was in the hospital was unavoidable. And since I still had heart problems I couldn't help whoever took them with the physical moving from a third floor down the flights stairs. Don't think too harshly of people like the one here who left these fish. Without friends or family willing to help, it's darn near impossible to even give away fish nowadays unless you find someone else with lots of room and tanks. People want empty tanks not ones with fish inside. I came close to being like the person mentioned here but I survived and kept the place paid for long enough to get an adopter. I was lucky all of mine survived in their nasty water. I no longer keep fish or aquariums as I am no longer healthy enough to keep them up. If you are a keeper of tanks of fish, or want to be, be sure you have made arrangements for someone to care for them in an emergency. If something happens to you, your pets will need another care giver.

The vet said he needs some time alone, so we left him alone in that room but we bought some other fish left there. We accidentally put some fish in the goldfish tank forgot about the goldfishes disease and we left because we forgot we had fish but I’m so happy you’re fishing them out and keeping them take care of them, bye-bye

    Simple question. WHY did yall go at night? LOL!! Seems it would be easier done in the daytime...but still....I'm glad you got the fish out. Great job!! I had a little goldfish once that lived for YEARS...which was rare. I took very good care of him. When he finally died we actually had to bury him...he was too big for the toilet...LOL! He was about 6 inches long and the width of his body/belly area was about 1 1/2 inch. He was huge. He was too big for my net so when I cleaned the tank he got used to me getting him out by hand...and he never fought me. He was a special little fish.

    Just a suggestion, but you might consider keeping an aquarium siphon in your "rescue kit" to pull out a lot of the water in tanks. You can siphon it into a bucket, out a window, into a sink, etc... It will help to catch them and see them a lot easier😊

    The thing on the fish is called: Fungal diseases; cotton wool disease, mouth rot, fin rot, and body fungus, are often a secondary infection of an open wound or damaged scales, caused by: aggression from other fish in the aquarium, either fighting or when breeding. damage caused by handling such as netting fish. And you can cure with: dose 1 packet of Maracyn and 1 tsp of Ich-X per 10 gallons of water at the same time. Let it soak for one full week, and make sure the symptoms completely disappear.

    For the goldfish, multicure is your friend. It does stain, though, so be careful. Quarantine tank, and follow the instructions with the multicure. Don't use a carbon filter because it'll filter out the medication, but the water needs to be heavily airated. You shouldn't of added another fish to the same container of a diseased fish. Now you have to keep them both in quarantine, even though you won't lol I just hope the disease won't spread and have a tpk
