I rode a BIKE EVERY DAY for 31 days, on a whim! The RESULTS are unremarkably beside the point!

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays [this cyclist] from the swift completion of their [random rides]".
I didn't plan any of this, I swear. It just sorta happened! Even this compilation video was just an idea I had this morning. It's become more of an Instagram thing, so apologies for the aspect ratio!
This little experiment has totally pulled me out of a very lazy slump and gotten me off my butt and onto a bike every day for a whole month! It's also taught me that even a short little ride around the block can be enough. Hopping on a bike, just because it feels good, is all the reason we should ever need. You don't have to work hard. You don't have to have a purpose. But if you do, the rewards can be great! Or kinda crummy. Either way, it's great to get outside and breathe a little bit!

What I find amazing is that a bike mechanic, keeps his diverse collection of bikes, in a road-worthy state.
I ride my bike pretty much every day first thing after breakfast, or as Joseph Campbell put it: “You must have a room, or a certain hour or so a day, where you don’t know what was in the newspapers that morning, you don’t know who your friends are, you don’t know what you owe anybody, you don’t know what anybody owes to you. This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be. This is the place of creative incubation. At first you may find that nothing happens there. But if you have a sacred place and use it, something eventually will happen.”

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing!
Super cool! Now I want to shoot for this goal in May or June. Ride on! 🎉
That was really awesome. I would be curious to get a closer look at the 60s Schwinn
Thank for sharing all your rides with us. Bikes are just awesome I really liked the old Schwinn. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
I was pretty critical of you in my comments on a couple of your rant videos but thoroughly enjoyed this video.
You are inspiring me! My ride schedule began a few weeks ago (M-W-F-Sat, will eventually become 6 days per week through 8/18/2024) from a training schedule provided on the 2024 RAW/WI Bike Fed website. Hopefully, I stick to the plan enough to sign up for 2-day ride (3 day event) Lacrosse to Milwaukee through your neck of the state!🎉
I love seeing small towns. I meant to ask the other day ..How many of those storefronts are empty in your town??
@bkefrmr Greetings from neighboring Twin Cities. I didn't bike 30 days straight, but did ride throughout this winter, looks like you had more snow than here. The cold isn't so bad if you wear mittens and sometimes I wear latex gloves underneath. Then a balaclava for face covering, the rest of my body stays pretty warm down to freezing temps with just these. Say I noticed you have a (handlebar?) bag mounted in the back of your seats, is there something special you did to keep it away from hitting your calves? One of the clips briefly showed a stick on the top inside to keep its form. Might be another idea for future video to explain how to handle cheap, easy, portable storage on different bikes. Most bikes sold in N America don't come with racks, so having a medium sized bag that can mount & transfer to make bikes more useful without spending an arm & a leg.
Dude! How do you like the TriEye glasses? Been thinking of getting a pair. Enjoyed the daily adventures!
This was a fun video to watch as the rain comes down outside. You have some really cool bikes! I have a Schwinn Collegiate , 5 speed with the freewheel bottom bracket, it is the run to the store , basket bike.
Did a fifty mile club ride through Veneta a couple days ago...one of their best shows ever! Cheers, Andy!
Love this video so nice to see a bike you tuber that isn't a bike snob your a great ad for cycling
Great to be able to see all the shorts without all the channel title info at the bottom of the screen. Still haven't figured out a way to hide it while watching an actual short.
Tail winds on the ride back are the best! You feel like Greg Lemond when you get home!
I was wondering how you like your TriEye Glasses? I am a rower/cyclist and didn't know these existed until watching you video. Can you give some insight (pun intended) as to how they compare to eyeglass frame mounted rearview mirrors (I'm guessing you have used both). I am wondering if the field of view is larger, and also quality of the mirror? Thanks
Got some nice bikes, man!
I rode everyday for 2 years and 2 days straight(732 days). I only took a break because of a family emergency and the counter was reset. Currently 27 days into trying to break 732 days of consecutive riding without a break.

It was very cloudy in Texas for the eclipse, so I decided to go for a bike ride during the eclipse. Pretty neat as it got darker and darker in the middle of the day.
I like Loe Reed, and sometimes Slayer too. But do you think that Lou Reed liked Slayer?
@bkefrmr

I doubt it. Lou Reed was an artist. I don’t think Slayer is high art.
I'll call my bike Whim now, so I can go out ona Whim! And I agree: test rides count!
Good times!!
The old Schwinn bag is cool.
One of the best things I ever did for reacquiring my natural weight and physique was, besides getting on a road bike again, besides the hybrid I rode exclusively before, was to get a stationary bike to fill in for the crap days over winter, and sometimes just over high, perhaps unsafe winds around here. I try to use it only to the extent I need to since it's a grind compared to real riding, but it gets the job done. There were some times over this last winter when I was using that thing for two days straight and nothing else for cycling.
Riding into the wind😊
7:18. EL! VIS! ROCK! ERRR!
How in the heck were you able to have this much fun on a sub $10,000 bike?
Bottom line for me amounted to this. Less ambitious riding beginning(restarting) a few years ago meant a rapid ten pound drop down from my all time high of 195 and held at 185. Healthier and stronger to that degree. More ambitious riding beginning last summer on a proper road bike meant a 25 POUND drop from the 185 to 160 in nine months, which is five under the average weight I had the last two years of high school. Much fitter, much leaner, and basically in the same condition I was in when I was 25-26 y.o. and running a fair amount. Oh and riding all through winter factored in also. I wasn't doing that before.
good stuff but hard to watch vertically filmed
oh yeah wipers!
He said the same thing when he was 10. Still has that drive and imagination.

I'm thinking this dude could ride over to a barber shop for a haircut and shave, and count that as a barbering ride. That is a sharp looking ride though for the main bicycle he has. Traditional and good lines on it. One of my bikes has caliper brakes also besides the friction shifter. On the comments about the bike helmets, be aware that some of us never wear them and therefore would be noticing or commenting in a favorable light. There are arguments pro and arguments anti on those. The arguments anti are tainted by the group think, child indoctrination, and bad laws which stifle ordinary riding. We'd have far fewer fatties and softies out there without all that, that is both adults and children.
Riding every two or three days is better... And don't forget HIT training (puls up to 180)...👍

@@bkefrmr Funny but my bike shop repairman out here hadn't heard of those things either. Probably due to the effects of our nanny culture. It's stuff I picked up on getting perspectives on cycling in Central Europe. Commentaries mostly. But when you just see how people are about bikes in some places you get it.
That’s good, I’m not as diligent, using indoor trainer, but it’s almost impossible for me to sleep normally, since my teens I’ve been go go go with military, college, work family, kids, perhaps I will ride when it’s dark out super early ?
