Wonderful simple motorcycle. I am glad to see Honda going back to their roots by giving the consumer's reliable, inexpensive transportation. It is more fun to ride a slow bike fast, than a fast bike slow. Good stuff Smoak's!

When I got in the Honda business, the 450 was our largest machine. Those were the days of simple, reliable motorcycles,,,,450, 305, 160, 90 ,65 and 50cc. Fun times.

Glad you got a ride on the XR150L. I am really enjoying mine.

Well, I have a gut feeling I might know what may be showing up at the Smoaks garage before too long. 😁 If I had some property to play around on I'd absolutely have to look at that little 150. I have my endorsement for three wheels, although Kansas doesn't differentiate between two and three wheels. But, one of those to play around with off road or back roads, I might be able to eventually move to two wheels. Still, it'd be a blast off road regardless. Mine didn't have a vent in the cap. It looked like it was drilled but it wasn't. I was on the side of the road for a bit. Honda drilled it out now it's good

I wanted the white one like most everybody else but, just about every dealer had a waiting list for it. The dealer near me had a black on on the lot so I took it figuring they are never going to be cheaper than they are now. I used my credit card and used the miles to pay for all the accessories I've added in the first month. Added Pro Taper bar risers and 1-1/8 bars, Tusk tank and side/rear bags, Tusk folding shifter, better mirrors, bigger red anodized foot pegs with studs, better horn, etc. Honda makes a cheap plastic skid plate that doesn't seem to cover much and they have ones on E-Bay from the Ukraine that are steel and have crash bars that protect the cases that cost the same as the factory Honda one with shipping. I was very happy with the quality and it took about 5 minutes to put on. After adding the red anodized parts I know think the black ones look better and I've had a lot of compliments on it. Since these are new to U.S. and have been around other parts of the world longer, it'll take a while for the aftermarket to catch up here. Even at only 300 miles in a month because of not wanting to ride in the extreme heat, I am super happy with the bike.

Seems like the XR150 is a lot like the SL100 I had when I was a teen and it was one of the most fun bikes I ever owned out of the dozens of others. Light, simple and nimble.

Takes me back to my second bike was Honda SL125 which I bought in 73, I think they were new in 72. This one doesn't really look that much different mechanically.

these side panels on a usa 150l xr look to be cosmetic. are they just wind scoops for usa market epa? because i want them off. do usa xr150l run leaner than over sea?

Like the tires on that Honda. Looked like a good versatile pattern. Hopefully, Kelli doesn't watch this with you beating up on her rig.. lol

I love small off road bikes, for me more fun.

How big are you? I'm 6'1" and a little over 350 and I'm thinking about getting one of these as a second bike just do screw around on and I'm wondering how well I'll fit

The way we did it for over a hundred years, learn what your range is and keep track of the mileage. A good start would be to top off the tank, reset the trip mileage and run it until the tank has to be switched over to reserve. Make note of the mileage and remember to always switch the petcock back to “On” after filling the tank..! Lol Thanks Robin!! 👍

Then it would MSRP for more like $4k or more. When I refused the extended warranty and pre-paid maintenance plan the guy at the dealer looked at me and said "Really?" I told him it was a Honda and me being 60 it will probably outlive me and I didn't come here to spend $5K. I know how to work on my own bike and still own a '76 RD400.

@@armadilllo For what it's worth the front brake is pretty good on this bike and I barely use the rear brake so drum is fine.

@@RedBud315 drums are fine until you have to work on them, get into muddy water or replace a whole wheel instead of a rotor or caliper, they also overheat faster, they should get into the 20th century. Anyway, I avoid commie china as much as possible.

Those are nice little cheap bikes until Honda and the dealers add on all the extra charges. Then it kind of defeats the purpose of a cheap bike.
