I Remastered More Avatar: The Last Airbender

Ойын-сауық

I recently "remastered" Avatar: The Last Airbender in my previous video and I had so much fun with this experience I decided to attempt even more scenes from the pilot episode.
In this video, I focused on clips with movement from the characters instead of relying on stationary backgrounds.
I hope you enjoy!

  • @theninjamaster67

@@xan42O Nah it's important to preserve the original and make sure it's available in that form to be seen anytime you want but modifying something to fit modern technology standards as long as it's done well is fine in my opinion key words being done well unlike when they just poorly crop the image. Working based off your logic the show shouldn't have been updated to HD because it makes less detailed character animation as seen in this video where they're hopping on the icebergs stand out. HD also especially makes the dated CG in the show stand out a lot, the CG in question being the temple doors that could only be opened with bending, quite a few vehicles like the fire nation tanks, and one I only noticed recently watching the show in HD for the first time the fire nation ships and the ground in front of them in the intro of the show where you can now see the fire benders floating above the ground as the camera pans in. I can almost guarantee the creators and the animators for that matter wouldn't want people seeing flaws previously obscured by a low resolution image but nobody wants to watch the show in 480p and the same can definitely also apply to a lot of younger people who aren't gonna want to watch in 4:3 even if it means a poorly cropped image and I'd personally prefer the image being extended instead of horribly cropped like the old orange brick Dragon Ball Z DVD sets.

I am impressed with how ambitious you've gotten with tackling these shots. Even going as far as to put Sokka on the far third of the screen for better view of the arm is something you appeared to understand intuitively. The rule of thirds is a common staging device used in film and seeing you get creative with the remastering scenes with it is pretty neat! Glad to hear you're enjoying this project for yourself. It's pretty neat seeing someone who had no previous experience with animation tackling this.

Not going to lie, this thought of remastering the original ATLA has been in my mind for quite a while. From 4:3 to 16:9 and definetly fix some oopsies that the original animators made (e.g Aang doing a weird twitch after deflecting Zukos fire after his betrayal in the finale of season 2). Since I do not have the tools or the skills necessary for any sort of animation, i did think of using AI in some capacity with of course the knowledge that hand made is FAR superior (which this and your previous video obviously prove). I now realize that this project, if ever fully realized, shouldn't be made or even touched by AI. What you're doing is astonishing and I hope you continue. Subbed and liked.

You are too hard on yourself, you are incredibly talented. It would probably be hard to do but the Ozai and Aang fight would be badass expanded like this.

This better keep showing up at the top of people's feed loke it did for me, this is great work. I would recommend adding finer details in after the point you currently stop, though, just to make the transition evem more seemless. Considering this is only your second video on this, you have tons of time to learn and grow in your animating though. I loved the choice to move the iceberg hopping scene to focus more on the destination, and I hope you continue playing with shifting the current scenes over. This is amazing work!

The good thing about all of your process is that people liked it, the bad thing is that people REALLY liked it. You're going to do more content for us 😈😈😈

This man proves that an artist doesn’t need any more expensive tools or materials, all we need is creativity and resourcefulness, God bless you man!
