For young people LA is nice: Six Flags, Raging Waters, clubs, beaches.. SoCal in general is nice: Palm Spring hot springs, snow in mtns, San Diego: Coronado, Catalina, OC Laguna, Knott’s etc. So many restaurants. What I like abt SoCal is everything is pretty much along the coast and cities are not too far one from another. In Texas cities are far apart from one another..
Listen bruh I get people want to move to places like NYC, Cali ATL, Dallas etc but don't move to those places and then leave and complain about those cities. Yall knew what yall signed up for.

Just the word of truth on the acting business. It’s an overcrowded industry 1% of the actors registered with the screen actors Guild work regularly movies are badly made today and actors are a dime a dozen, if you are not working steadily by the age of 25. Please focus on something else, it’s a hard reality to face, but most people do not make it. Most people are just looking for quick fame and millions of dollars and while you’re trying to be an actor you’re losing out I’m very good years of developing a trade that will sustain you.

I live in downtown Los Angeles and I had the citizen app for a few weeks. It will drive you nuts. You get what you get in big cities you have to know what kind of lifestyle that you want. I love the city life. ❤️
Born and raised in Orange County, CA. I ♥️ Los Angeles. Met my native Angeleno significant other and life sooo much more fun in LA with a native. We live in Northeast side, but when I first moved here alone, I lived in downtown LA and embraced the chaos. I am staying put in LA and making it home and making it better instead of complaining.

Ok.. so you lived in one neighborhood in LA for 1 month and you regret it. Next time try the San Gabriel Valley, it’s clear u don’t know much about California. You gotta educate urself before you move and know that Hancock Park isn’t an entire city and/or county. Saying “OC” is very vague, OC is full of hood cities as well, please do ur homework before you put this out to the world it sounds silly.
@patr70

OC is definately [not] full of hood cities. Only parts of Santa Ana and Garden Grove are hood areas.. the other 85% of Orange County is a really nice place. Lots of Upper Middle Class people live in OC.
Ok girlie, I’m so sorry you had a bad experience, but what do you expect when you don’t leave the apartment? 😅 You can’t spend all day on the citizen app and freak out instead of actually living life. It does sound like your apartment complex wasn’t the best and I wouldn’t consider Hancock park as “prime location” - for everyone wanting to move to LA: you need to be open minded and independent, you need to make informed decisions and make compromises on some things :)

Rich ppl come here and expect what exactly? To be cuddled to sleep? Crime in LA isn’t bad at all. Of course if you have the citizen app, you’ll have that impression. LA is HUGE. It’s 20 million people living in the metro area of LA. Like yes, there’s always A LOT going on. I lived in New Orleans and LA is safe haven for me now after how much BS I had to deal with in Louisiana. LA is just a city. Most of us here are working class immigrants or children of immigrants. It’s a big city. It’s a tough place to live. This video has this rich white girl sipping on starbies in her Tesla. Literally people like this girl is what gives LA bad rep. Most ppl here are very down to earth and very sweet. LA actually has the nicest people I’ve ever met in my life. Influencers and actors are not LA.

@TriopsTrilobite Ok, I'm going to applaud your answer as it's the most complete answer a person can give, given the time to think about it and write it.... in my experience, there has never been anyone who's answered in depth as this!! I've been visiting & living in LA a little bit longer than you've been living (visiting 2x's per ysince 2005 living since 2018) so my answer will be different than yours!! Being from New Orleans, I'm disappointed in the food scene as LA doesn't have a food identity for the exact reason being what you said "Diversity" (Or Lack There Of) LA doesn't have something that's unique to LA food wise because everything is from everywhere else, such as the ppl... 100% expected!! It's so many different pockets of food, not one thing is truly "LA" and, being that it's so large in scale, it's extremely hard to find anything consistent, food wise in LA which for me, makes it very hard for me to like/love thr food here!! As far as "Diversity" in culture.... it's actually not as "Diverse" as you mentioned as more than 45% of the population is Hispanic, then Caucasian, then Asian, then black (with Asian & Black maybe rounding out 25% TOTAL) that's hardly Diverse in a city/county that houses 9-12 million ppl 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ that's just a fact (also, not shittin on those stats, this is specifically for the sake of the conversation, don't want this to be misunderstood 😉) Living in the "Film Capital" of the world comes with a heavy price tag, which makes it extremely hard to earn a decent wage to afford to live comfortably!! More than half the homeless population came to LA to "Make It", failed, and never recovered from that!! I'll give you "Nature" .... there's no shortage of beautiful scenery with mountains that makes it irresistible to venture off into, but.... for visiting LA, not to continue to live & pay for it!! I'm not sure where you lived before, or what you do for a living, but I see everyday working ppl struggling to live in LA working multiple jobs, multiple roommates, sacrificing so much, just to be able to say "I LIVE IN LOS ANGELES" which is hardly a reason to LOVE LA!! This doesn't apply to me by the way... I'm not rich by a long shot but, my living situation is a lot more unique than most ppl here so, I'm not struggling to live here @ all, also I came for a personal reason, and not on purpose 🤷🏾♂️
I just recently moved here a few months ago and I was afraid of the same thing happening to me but I’m starting to realize you create the vibe you want to attract and if all you’re looking for is that lifestyle you see on Instagram you probably won’t be happy, because it takes lots of work … and unless you want to be working just to sit in your apartment because it looks nice then what’s the point? Not saying you are just speaking generally. I just feel like it all depends on what you are looking for!

As a California native who has lived in IE, LA and OC this brought back memories in my teenage years to mid 20s and meeting people who were from out of state. Everyone is having a good time and they would have a look of paranoia 😂. If your not use to a certain way of life and have been sheltered in a sense, not a good idea to start out in any big city. Mind you this was back in the 90s and early 2000s when LA was much rougher.
I was in LA just before Covid, October 2019. Coming from Europe, I was there as a tourist for around a week. I did quite a bit of walking both in Santa Monica, Downtown LA and Hollywood. Only thing that worried me is that she is driving a Tesla. I recently let go of my Tesla after a 4 year lease - I live in Switzerland where there is virtually no crime. Transplants make the same videos over and over again and they never give an accurate take on Los Angeles. Millions of LA natives love the city. Most of the transplants move to “trendy” places and brush shoulders with other transplants who negligently romanticize the city and then trash the city after they realize it’s nothing like La La land. Natives know and understand the city and they know the best neighborhoods to live. KZread needs more LA natives to give an accurate take on our city.

From someone who also favors a country vibe, cities aren’t the worst thing in the world😅 living in inner city LA would be fun ash and you’d never run out of things to do. Good thing about cities like LA and Houston is you get the inner city then you also get lots of sprawl and smaller communities. You can go from Kingwood to Rice Village to Downtown and feel like you’re in an entirely different world in Houston. That’s the advantage. Why not move to Topanga Canyon or Calabasas, and be able to commute to Van Nuys, Anaheim, Downtown, Venice whenever you want to.?.

I've been back to L.A. many times over the years, and each time it seems a little richer, and a lot poorer, if that makes sense. My last visit was in 2019. I saw 3 bums fighting with what looked like iron bars in broad daylight on La Cienega. No cops, nobody honking horns trying to break it up, just another day. The next minute I see like 4 Bentley convertibles soaking up the sun. That town is not for me.

same. the only city that really connects with me is Chicago. maybe it's the humble Midwestern kindness thing that attracts me to it and attracts me away from places like LA.
I'm not sure if I missed a part but did something happen to you guys that made your anxiety that bad? That sucks you were both so scared but with 4 million people in a city 5-7 crimes a day is kind of expected unfortunately. I've lived in LA for 8 years and love it but have also lived in OC and liked it as well. However personally I'd take LA crime over OC racism any day lol.

@@vdhazerevery major city in LA since post pandemic 😂 go to any city in any state and the crime is just as bad as La or even worse … Texas As a whole crime rate is 4.3 vs CA 4.9 … in the next few years there’s going to be an established trend moving back to California as everywhere else gets just as expensive as California and jobs keep paying low in other cities …

Don’t make excuses, people are lovers of themselves today. People want to be on TV and in videos and enjoy the nice life. Los Angeles has a lot of poverty it’s even hard for middle-class people to make it there and struggle. most of these influencers if the Internet went out, wouldn’t be able to make it anywhere
$4100? There are cheaper apartments than that in LA county! LA county is very large. where were you living? But yes visiting and living are very different. I would live in the outside cities of main LA area. The main LA area is not good to live.If you come from a nicer more affordable area it can definitely be a shock. It was for me for a while.
Thanks for telling me this, my anxiety is sooooooo bad. I am paranoid even in a smaller town
Yeah… don’t live near parks in LA. Somewhat should have told you 😅 there’s tons of great places in LA. It’s a massive sprawl. Just gotta know where to go. Beverly Hills is and always has been pretty run down unless you go to the billionaire mansion streets. Looks like you’re sitting in a Tesla so things must not be too bad.

What people don’t understand is that “LA” like the heart of it is not a nice place but everyone has this idea that it’s a fairytale. YOU chose to move there just to say “I live in LA” what you should’ve done is asked CA natives which areas in LA COUNTY are the best to live in. You can always drive to LA the heart of it for whatever reason but to live there? No. People don’t understand there’s LA the city and then LA County lol I don’t ever go to downtown la unless it’s for an event or some business I need to go to but other than that it’s a no. People need to stop talking crap online because you didn’t do your own research. CA is beautiful. You just need to know where to go and also have the money for it. You just sound like a little rich girl that doesn’t want to be around people who have less and it shows
I couldn't finish the whole thing... too much complaining!🙄 You're just not built for L.A., it's kool. People think it's just like in the movies here but ignore the reality of the city life.
I think all o CA is getting bad because everyone talks about how they hate LA and don't want to live there; but if you move to other parts like OC, Santa barbara Ventura, and SF many people behave and act and mimick the same type of culture from LA. I left CA because I didn't like the culture it felt too much like highschool and many people act like they dont want to date, hang out or go out unless you are involved in their social/inner circles.

You from Vegas? Im from Vegas and you know for a fact everyone from L.A or Cali alone moves here lol. Cali is fun to visit but to live there its condensed af and expensive.
I grew up in LA and have lived in every part. I’ve also lived and worked in OC. I agree that I would rather raise a family in Orange County, but maybe LA is better is you’re young (below 23-24). In general, neither LA or OC or really anywhere in California is a good place to live / create wealth for the long term. It’s great if you’re already rich and can live in a barricaded home or luxury building, but you’ve really got to look elesewhere if you’re trying to build yourself up. Same story with New York.
I’d move in a place like San Diego over LA in a heartbeat. Went there last year and it was BEAUTIFUL! I feel like SD is what people perceive LA to be when you think about it. We even passed by OC during our time there and it was also beautiful. Very scenic drive. May I ask how’s the pricing in OC?

@@90srapfan37 The fact that the public transportation here is trash, the infrastructure is also bad. You basically need a go practically anywhere, there isn't that much parking here that you will probably have to pay for and also the drivers here. But there are pros and cons to everything.

@@javen2125 I see, thanks for the insight. My only counter argument is a lot of the stuff you mentioned are pretty big problems in LA too, in some cases to an even bigger extent. From what I’ve seen LA has a pretty horrendous homeless problem, public transportation there was pretty bad too but at least in SD the traffic isn’t nearly as bad, I feel like lack of rain is a statewide problem over there, at least the SoCal region, as far as drivers I feel like they’re pretty tied tbh. With all this said I’m not a Cali resident so you’re definitely gonna have a better understanding than I do as you actually live there, I’m mainly just speaking from a visitor and what I’ve seen.
