all jokes aside, duplicity is actually a really great fanfic. not because it's mafia harry styles enemies to lovers smut or shit, but because it's so amazingly written, has very complex characters, shocking plot twists and touches on topics like mental health and trauma. when i first read it, it quite literally changed my life. i'm not even kidding lmao. i still think about almost daily

I would highly suggest checking out AO3. I find it really interesting how much the writing quality differs between the two platforms. I have read at least 100 fics on AO3 so far and only come across 3 I didn't want to finish.

@@nataliaparra1049 I have no idea how to find them on purpose, but I have seen a ton of fics in different languages on AO3 as well. A lot of really popular fics are translated into different languages by readers if the author allows. I only know English so I can't speak to their quality though.

i have read wattpad for nearly 2 years and i feel like the plot lines are very similiar now . I have seen some amazing stories on there while also finding some traumatising or plot less as expected . Overall i think wattpad is great for upcoming authors to gather support on a platform

This was actually my first ‘Jack’ video, & although I was slightly traumatized from the wretched hive of smut & insanity that is wattpad-it was wonderfully entertaining as well! (Yes, I know there’s excellent content on there as well, I just can’t believe what’s been made into fics as of late.) 😅

Jenny Nicholson has done some great videos about fanfic, including the Josh Hutcherson one. I highly recommend if you want to hear this stuff roasted in detail.

That skin peeling one totally traumatised me. It’s been 6-7 hours, since I watched this vid and I still can’t get it out of my head. To the author of the book if they watch this vid- you need some serious help buddy. I’ve read some f*ed up sh*t on wattpad but yours took the cake.

there used to be (maybe still is?) a few real YA authors that published early versions of their books on wattpad to get feedback and interact more with the readers. I think Scott Westerfield did that with the Uglies series.

Most of the Wattpad fanfics are painful to read, causing all the bad reputation. But there are actual gems that gets covered up by the bad rep. AO3 is the best when it comes to fanfiction.

I have come across this now and am so glad you did this. I have been scarred by so many problematic stories on the platform. It glorifies a lot of crimes as love and teens hail it. Tried to give some teens reviews and they attacked me. Yes I have also posted fan fiction on the medium before shifting to a proper blog because I quickly realised the crowd doesn't want good stories. They want unnecessary eroticas, pedophilia and bdsm

As a wattpad reader and writer, I'm here to say that comment section of wattpad is far worst than any fanfiction you have read here (1d has the best fanfiction! Some are just wonderfully written!)

And it's probably only 13 because that's the age you're required to be to get an account. So there are probably a bunch younger lying about their age

I was almost at the end and so happy you avoided that specific story but it was the last one ... Actually traumatizing every time I see it
