@insense ??? This seems like a very negative comment. English literature refers to literature WRITTEN in the language of English, which American books are. Hence why of mice and men and other novels are often read within them. Even if you’re talking about CLASSICAL English literature Italian, Greek and American books are all accepted in the canon

One cool thing about East of Eden is the allusion of good and evil with names! All “A” names were examples of good and “C” names were examples of evil. (Representing Cain and Abel in Genesis of the Bible. Cain slayed his brother Abel and was cursed and outcast from the Garden of Eden. Hence “east” of Eden.) It’s definitely my favorite Steinbeck novel and I just recently reread it. 🥰

I remember reading “East of Eden” when I was fourteen, (so, like, five years ago), just because I was obsessed (at the time) with James Dean (he was Cal in the movie adaptation of the book). I started reading it without expectations and completely unaware of how amazingly written the story was, but when I finished it I was completely in love with the beautiful way it was built. This is a must, in my opinion, for every book lover! (I’m really sorry for all the mistakes that I’m sure I made in this comment, but English is not my mother language)

@@justinebarci1171 All the Wrong Questions is the prologue of that series. It follows young Snicket, when he was still an apprentice. There's only 4 books to All the Wrong Questions but it's sooo good. There are allusions and references to other classic works of literature sprinkled within the books. In fact, the final book is inspired by a famous mystery novel ( I won't spoil it) Go read them (if you want :D) Edit: typo

I think you're exaggerating, so basically all the billions of people who lived before KZreadrs existed would have suicided and felt miserable and depressed ? Lmao pleaseeee, this new generation is way too obsessed with social media, y'all don't even know how to enjoy your life and real experiences anymore, I pity you guys
