I Ranked ALL The Bacon At Walmart
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video, I went to Walgreens-Mart and bought all the different brands of bacon they had. I them took them back home and cooked them up. After that, I tasted each one and ranked my favorite. Along the way we will settle some age old debates about bacon. How do you cook your bacon? How done do you like your bacon? We will get to the bottom of it all.

This man just found a way to make bacon a tax deductible business expense. You sir, are my hero.
I love the Wright's Applewood smoked bacon cooked on cast iron to a crispy but slightly floppable state.

Wright bacon is absolutely the BEST! Entire Internet forums exist to discuss its deliciousness.👍

I love the Wright bacon, I've bought this for years. Best bacon in my opinion.
Why didn't you do Wrights? That is by far my favorite bacon from Walmart. Other than that it was an interesting video. Thanks
Wright's Thick Cut applewood smoked bacon in the oven. All my family loves it as well, grandma's bacon is the best. And I agree the smithfield "thick cut" is not great, but was bogo at publix, so it's what we are eating right now.

My favorite love the 3 pound packs and the hickory smoked taste, I bake it on a large sheet pan on parchment paper.
Walmart also carries Hormel Black Label thick cut bacon. We did a bacon taste during a bbq with over 20 people and the hands down winner was the Hormel thick cut. Runner up was Farmer John's (not carried by every Walmart, though).

That sounds like a fun thing to do. Next gathering, bacon tasting.
Oscar Meyer Maple bacon is pretty darn good, too. I eat 1/2 to 3/4 pound of bacon/day, so I've experimented with cooking technique quite a bit. My favorite method is definitely the oven. It allows for a high degree of consistency and I don't have to hover impatiently over it while waiting for it to cook. I put the bacon on a piece of parchment paper then into a large sheet pan, 20 .75 x 14 .75 x 1 inches, so I can get maximum bacon cooked at once. Thick-cut bacon goes about 28-30 minutes, into a preheated 350° oven (regular cut, a bit less time). I pile it onto a doubled paper towel for a minute or two to get rid of the excess grease, then serve. I save the bacon grease for frying eggs, hamburgers and anything else that deserves it!

I make mine in a toaster oven, although that is more bacon than I care to eat. Eggs are a must though, three jumbos at least. And yes, bacon fat for much of my frying unless olive oil is called for. Rarely, but importantly, I have grape seed oil around for high temperature cooking where I don't want any added flavors from the oil.

@@petergreenwald9639 I like avocado oil, too, especially for its high smoke point (as much as 100° higher than grape seed oil).

@@commentatron Thank you for the reply. I noticed that Aldi in my city carries avocado oil as well. I will give it a try soon. My great disappointment is that Aldi no longer carries Ghee in my local stores. Perhaps it will return. I dearly hope so, it was my "go to" high temp fat before I switched to grape seed oil.

@@petergreenwald9639 Make your own ghee, its quite simple to do. Plus, you can control how "toasted" you want the flavor to be.
Wright's thick cut hickoy smoke is my favorite. I am on team crispy. I tend to cook bacon mostly on stove top but big batches in the oven. I got the "Yellowstone" show brand bacon to give it a try.

My absolute favorite also.
I do the Alton Brown Oven cooking. Idr the temp (been about a year since i cooked at home) but you dont preheat the oven. You just put it in, turn the oven on. And in like 10 mins its done. Its really helpful for making breakfast fast at home.
Great Value thick cut bacon in the oven. Delish!
Welcome back! I figured you were busy, busy, busy! My husband and I live in Spokane, which is in Eastern Washington. 20 miles from the Idaho border. It's cold here. Our weather is similar except you have way more humidity in the summer.
We love the Hormel Black Label thick cut bacon. We cook it on the stove to crisp it up after Sous Vide and freezing a ton. I use it soft for recipes, I crisp it up for breakfast. What I can’t stand is bacon so crisp it tastes like Bacon Bits (which I believe is meat free). Thanks for the yummy video. Great channel!
The Smithfield Thick cut is my favorite too! 😁
You're doing the lord's work. Please keep it up!
Used to cook bacon on the stove top but once I cooked it in the oven we were hooked. Easier cleanup so we eat more bacon!
Hey, I just found your channel. It's a good channel with good content. I have some suggestions that may help you get a few more viewers by upping the production value a bunch with very little work on your end. I would be to use a different microphone and get some lighting. That light in the background is causing your exposure to struggle a lot. There's also a lot of echo. If you get a lapel mic it should help a lot by being less sensitive and picking up less reverb of the kitchen. You could also put some blankets up off camera to dampen the sound.
Thick cut using a baking sheet with a rack. It renders the fat into a crispy yet still soft texture that absolutely melts in your mouth. No other cooking option compares.
I like mine well done. I have a Breville grill which is like a HUGE George Foreman grill. I put about 6 - 7 pieces on the preheated electric Breville grill and put the top down which is also heated. Depending on the thickness, I cook it for 2 -3 minutes and then I flip it over and cook another 2 minutes. PERFECT every time. I got the Breville 10 years ago or so and that is how I’ve cooked my bacon ever since. No pink anywhere !
I put it on my Recteq 2500. A few packs and smoke it at 325 for around 20min. Love the channel! Robbie
I usually get thick cut bacon and I start it in a cold cast iron pan. Nice crispy bacon and a nice collection of rendered fat!! Awesome Video!! Thanks for doing this!!👍
I actually enjoy the Great Value bacon. The fat content varies from pack to pack. Great for bacon wrapped spam!

I'm that person you are waiting to get the hell out of the way. I have to check every package to find the two or three with the least fat and most meat. Walmart bacon is great. And I love their jumbo eggs where I live in MN.
Wright so far is the best for me but I'll continue to watch
'this is not a carrot.' now THAT was funny. i like my bacon crispy.
Cast iron pan on the stove top .But the best is on a griddle on the campfire.
I use Smithfield Applewood and I cook it in my air fryer and I love my bacon crispy just like you!! 😊
I prefer Wrights Brand Bacon. I cook it in the oven if it’s only me eating it. Otherwise, it’s either in a pan or on the griddle. If baked, it’s firm but not crisp. Other than that, crispy.
Love the great value bacon!!!!!! I dig through the packages and find the soft ones... more meat, less fat.
I like the casual review, x/10 score ratings, without any snobbery... one suggestion: It was kinda distracting to bounce back and forth between rating a few bacons and then talking about another subject... and then back to rating more bacons. Honestly, I don't even know which one you like best. These kind of rating videos work _really_ well in short clips (Portnoy style). I hope you'll do more of them, and keep it casual. Whatever things you want to rate. Maybe do hot dogs next? There's nothing worse than buying a #$&* brand of hotdog and then forcing yourself to eat them all, even though they're disgusting (or throw them away, which is like burning money).
I can eat turkey bacon if I have to but it is nothing like the real deal! My favorite is the thick cut cooked just a touch past floppy but floppy is better than burnt😊 Thanks for the fun video it has motivated me to get up and make some blts 🤙
I like the Kroger butcher case thick cut bacon. I used to cook it on the stove for a few slices, and in the oven for many. Then my mom gave me her old, very large George Forman grill and it's so easy. It presses it a little to cook evenly, and you dont have to babysit it or turn it!
Important note - "nitrate-free" bacon and a lot of other products labelled as "uncured" actually contains nitrates, and could even contain more than regular cured bacon. They add celery juice/powder which causes nitrates to form during the curing process. It's less regulated and so can result in more nitrates than regular bacon.
I usually cook my bacon (thick cut) on a grill over hardwood lump charcoal. Just make sure to watch the flare ups.
you should make a video on how to make your own bacon at home!
I tried many and always return to Oscar Mayer regular cut bacon which is my favorite usually cooked in the air fryer.
Wrights applewood smoked thick cut oven 400 for 20 mins❤ 5:51
On the blackstone!!! FTW!! Cooks it perfectly every time. I will be outside in the winter with my jacket on cooking it on the blackstone
I bought an air fryer last month after moving into my new house. And I use to, among other things, cook the Oscar Mayer turkey bacon. Part of what I like about it is the easy cleanup. When I finish the package (it's 3 pounds) I will try real bacon and see how that goes.
I like the JENNIE-O Turkey Bacon better than Butterball. As for regular bacon - Carolina Pride is my favorite (I end up needing to buy what's on sale though). Oven cooked to a medium. If I am cooking for guest, I do like Wright's brand. In general, bacon needs salt and sugar. Thick cut if possible.
I like Dutch farms bacon Preferably Applewood Smoked But Hickory Smoked is awesome too
They used to carry Steak bacon which is mega thick. It was awesome
I like mine crispy cooked in the oven. Great Value thick cut or Wrights thick cut. Both cook very well in the oven.
I like Smithfield, but I think my favorite is Wright, and my bacon has to be thick-cut. Even though I really like Wright, my number one choice will always be sliced pork belly that I salt myself.
Cook in the oven. Primarily because I can cook more at one time than in a skillet. Plus it requires no attention, just put it in, set a timer and let it cook. I put non-stick foil on a sheet pan, add the bacon, then cover with parchment paper. Into a cold oven set to 400 for about 25 minutes for thick cut bacon. Time will vary based on the oven and the brand of bacon.
I cook my bacon in the oven and the airfryer. I like crispy bacon but not charred. I recently tried Beef bacon. It was disappointing. Maybe it was the brand, I don't know. I like Costco brand and Wright brand of bacon. Thanks for the review.
Why did you not include the Wright bacon? That's definitely the best one. But I did have some Plumrose brand maple black pepper bacon from walmart that was really good
Crispy. But not totally charred to a cinder.
Can you do a test on all of the bacon sold at costco??
For wrapping things like jalapeño poppers or hot dogs I use plain old Oscar Meyer or Bar-S. They're not pricey, they get the job done & they've got good flavor. For just plain bacon to go with breakfast (or in a Bloody Mary or Caesar) it's Hempler's thick cut. I generally cook bacon in my pellet smoker which is right outside my kitchen. Sometimes I'll use the oven or cast iron on the stovetop, but 90% of the time bacon is done in the smoker. Bacon doneness? If it's floppy you're doing it wrong.
The best way to cook bacon is in the oven at 350 degrees. You can get all temps from 15 minutes limp to 25 brunt type. An everything in between. Finally it’s just easy for big crowds or just 1 person.
No bacon you can buy at the store will ever compare to homemade bacon. Period. Especially with how easy it is to make!
I oven bake my bacon in a foil lined sheet pan for no cleanup, easy cooking. And I want it crisp.
I like mine in the middle, I want a little bit of fatty chew, but I do like a little crunch on the edges. I'll have to try the Smithfield, we normally buy Oscar Mayer thick cut.

Smithfield Hickory smoke thick cut is soooooo good. Fry some up and add some hamburger to it and when cooked add a little Bushes baked beans to it .... soooooooo good. I don't like my bacon tasting like a salt block.
I like Bacon dust on the camp chef using a hamburger press. What is bacon dust you ask? The crumbly pieces that you made just finer.
I’ve been making my own bacon for over a decade now. You won’t save any money doing it, in fact it will cost more overall , but it is SO MUCH BETTER than the stuff you get in the store. I get the pork belly @ Costco and cure it/smoke it. I have 22 pounds of bacon curing in my fridge right now, gonna smoke it next weekend! 🥓🥓🥓
Chinese company just bought out Smithfield. Just a FYI.
your just a crazy baconeater looking for something to do..I like my bacon cooked so its medium and crispy...great fun video...
I typically buy the fresh deli bacon or Costcos kirkland brand
I remember as a kid we got beef bacon from a local butcher. Oh my god that was the best. I haven't seen it since.
Stove top on cast iron. Wife likes floppy, I like slightly crispy; unless its bacon bits for salad or baked potatoes, then it's crispy.
Cloverdale!!!
Usually cook it on the stovetop since I like it a little crispy. Even tried cooking the bacon on the stovetop w/ water (it’s supposed to cook the bacon very evenly) just takes almost 3/4 times as long to make so it wasn’t worth the hassle for me.
You missed one. It's in the freezer section. Applegate uncured, smoked bacon. It's the best of all the bacons sold at Walmart IMHO.
I buy the blue Kirkwood bacon at Costco. Can't really say what my preference is in relation to doneness; depends on what I am preparing.
I'm on team oven (minimal cleanup) - medium (not floppy, not crispy). I prefer a thick cut bacon (Wrights is my favorite).
I only got 2 options for bacon. It has to be crispy on a burger. But for breakfast it hast to be on the softer side
Hemplers thick sliced is the best bacon you will ever eat!
Crisp but chewy, I like my bacon to fight back a bit.
I cook my bacon in a skillet on the stove top, with a little bit of water while the bacon cooks. When the water boils , it renders the fat down. This gives the fat a bit of a head start, and the bacon is meduim crispy but not burnt. The dar isn't greasy either .
Haven't had any bad bacon off my Blackstone
Crispy almost burnt 🥓🥰
Put me down for team crispy. I cook my bacon in a skillet in a toaster oven, 30 minutes at 425 degrees. Thick bacon goes one layer, thin cut bacon is laid down two layers thick.
So MANY bacon choices here in Eastern Canada - I'd guess at at least 15 different types - it's baffling! - I most often get the Costco 4-pack - It's "okay" but not great. Personally, I like mine not floppy, but not crispy - "Mr. In-Between"! - Cheers!
Can you do beef bacon? I’m curious about it.
The only kinds of bacon I typically buy are thick cut Smythfield, either Cherrywood or Applewood smoked, or Wright's, Applewood smoked, occassionally Hickory smoked if Wal-mart has a big pack of it for cheap. I typically cook mine on a gas griddle outside as that's the easiest way I know to cook about 16 pieces of bacon at once. I like to cook until there's some crispness but I don't mind if it's floppy either. Fuck that fall apart bacon dust shit.
Bake in oven, roughly 20 minutes to get it crispy but not burnt.
I have a suggestion for a future video. Show us minions how to dry age cuts of beef. What do ya think.
I do like the Smithfields Thick Cut Bacon and I do cook in the oven. It is easier and renders better.
oven bacon takes forever. cold pan, cover with paper towels so the clean freaks don't burst a blood vessel in their cranium when they see the lubed stove. Leave it in there, turn over when you think you've gone too far. turn off heat after 2 minutes. toast a bagel, slather with cream cheese, glue bacon to cream cheese, garnish with chopped green olives in brine (not in oil) and that's brekkies for champions. and a redeye, half n half float. Love your channel! A real channel with real meat! Oh where have I been all this time? LOL 🙃🙃💕💕💕💕😜😜
Great value 3lb, in the oven 25 minutes @375 as we speak.
Thanks but what about the best one? "WRIGHTS hickory" Hands dow and available at WALMART!! Thanks for the research.
Not a good day when you are saltier than your bacon. 😂
I like to cook mine in the oven on a sheet pan just because I can cook more and it’s easy clean up …
I don’t buy any bacon with sodium phosphate or anything phosphate within it. It’s hard to find cus they’ll only be a couple without it at grocery stores but healthier no doubt
Our favorite bacon is a bacon we get at the Amish market which is beef bacon. Has anyone tried beef bacon?
@petergreenwald9639

I have not but I really want to try some. I live in a north suburb of Minneapolis and there isn't anything close to an Amish market like I used to go to in upstate NY when I traveled to visit family. I still have rye flour I bought nearly ten years ago in my pantry. It is still fine and I make 5-10 loaves of rye bread a winter. I knew when my father passed I would never go home to NY again, so I bought 20-30lbs of rye flour. I didn't realize how far it would go. Gosh, I miss the Catskills.
You reminded me to pay some tomatoes 🍅 😋
I would love to see you tempt your palate with some super premium specialty house bacon and see where it takes you. 😂
I like thick cut cherry wood smoked bacon ! Must be crispy , NOT limp, and cooked in a cast iron skillet .
Can you compare these to coctco bacon, regular and thick cut
We do our in the Air Fryer. And save the Bacon Grease for cooking.
I’m an air fryer fan-it cooks bacon crispy (I don’t like floppy).
the natural one isn't bacon, it's just sliced pork belly. here in Sweden we eat a lot of Salt-Cured Pork Belly.
I must just be a bacon cheerleader, because I am neither Team Floppy nor Team Crispy--my favorite is right in the middle (as it begins to turn to crispy, but not quite.). I can also eat either, if the bacon itself is good! "Bacon (and butter!) makes life better!" is my motto
I cook on the stove top on a low heat, I bounce between 3 and lower it to 2 when it starts splashing a lot. I have to cook it for 3 different preferences =/
As for cooking styles, tried the throw in a pot cut in half fry in own fat method. Not, ok for a sandwich. Short and chunky good for colecting fat
wright's bacon from Sam's club for us. I think we have close to 20 pounds in the freezer right now.
My favorite bacon is not at walmart. It is bluegrass bacon it sold at my local meat market. The way I most often fix bacon is in a cast iron skillet or on a griddle with cast iron press. Smith Apple is my go to for nonmeat market or butcher shop. Sometime I may by a whole pork belly a salt cure or wet salt brine it for 2 weeks then smoke it to 150 degrees to make my own bacon.
Try Daily's thick cut bacon
Team crispy and oven!
I love the great value bacon.
I cook bacon in the air fryer 🥓
Brad, we like the same bacon. Probably because we have the same name!
