18:17-18:43 was literally me watching the announcement this morning 😂 😂 I borrowed 5 out of the 6 that ended up being shortlisted from my library to get them before it was announced... my mind, my power!! You truly had me cackling.

Omg I’m HERE for this !!! I wanted to attempt this but life did not allow it 😅 I only managed to finish the winner of last year. I feel like a good amount of the ones I was most interested ended up on the shortlist 🥳 so I can hopefully read those before the winner is announced?? who knows

I'm so excited that you have so many new videos recently! This is super fun. I love Erdrich's works and I know she owns her own bookstore too. I want to read The Sentence. The Love Medicine Series was so good.

I'd love one day to go to Trinidad. My best friend's dad is from there and she's been a few times and I want to go with her. I feel like that book would make me sad because I'm too close to the topic of domestic abuse. The shortlist for sure surprised me. I also miss Contrapoints.

@@HasabeMizurukara yes come to Trinidad! I also meet contra a lot, but she posted a pic on her ig recently that looked costumey, so I'm hoping she was filming another video. It might just be that she felt like dressing up though 😭

@@HasabeMizurukara I'm sorry to hear about that! Fortunately, there are other wonderful books set in Trinidad that don't feature domestic abuse. I always suggest 'Butterfly in the Wind" by Lakshmi Persaud.

Fantastic Video! I managed to read the Paper Palace which I enjoyed reading but think it was an okay book overall (I think I enjoyed it more than it was good) and Sorrow and Bliss, which was phenomenally good! Aww my UK audible does does have Build Your House Around My Body. I started the Bread the Devil Knead and sadly found it a bit boring and have abandoned it for now

I don't disagree, it was pretty funny!

I was very glad to see Book of Form and Emptiness and The Sentence on there! Great Circle was definitely going to be on there, wouldn't be surprised if it won. I was most bummed that neither Creatures of Passage or Build Your House Around My Body made it. They're both great as a well and easily beat out Sorrow and Bliss.

I was also shocked because quite a few people were talking about how those books are great and would definitely make the list. Sorrow and Bliss doesn't look too appealing, but I'll see for sure when I get around to it.
