I actually really liked reading Noemi go from slightly shallow socialite who thinks Francis is ugly to realizing the house is fucked up and he's her only real ally and forgoing describing him as ugly entirely. And the shift was very subtle because it happened when even bigger fucked up shit was happening too!

Just finished Mexican Gothic, and I gotta admit: Francis is great, and it's impressive that he and Noemi had actual chemistry. I feel that's so rare in books, where I actually like the romantic pair.

That one part at the end when Noemi is bathing and she can't understand why she's overthinking about Francis and she's like "he's not even handsome". I really relate with that as someone who already fell for some pale and probably anemic white boys

I thoroughly refuuuuse to believe Francis wasn't hot, like my eyes would literally black out the parts when the author described him as ugly 🙅🏻‍♀️

Listen, Noemí and Francis are the epitome of the meme that's like "me and the bad bitch I pulled by being a lil goofy". Like, I wholeheartedly believe in his being weird in a cute/endearing kind of way. He would've been weirder if his dad hadn't been an outsider, y'know? I have a hard time believing Virgil is handsome bc he's full incest baby and Francis is only half. And anyway, if they ever have kids Noemí's genes will deffo kick those incest genes in the ass and the kids will come out alright! I believe in them! Bad bitch and her goofy lil dude!

While reading Mexican gothic I thought it was interesting how Catalina husband (virgil?) was handsome and perfect and Francis described as ugly and asymmetrical, I thought that it was refreshing that a nice guy was "ugly" even though in my head he was normal and nice (my type of guy).

But my choice to play Francis is Tom Holland (who really has no upper lip) or Dane DeHaan (who has an odd look to him but still cute). Something Cindy mentioned about A Deadly Education reminded me why I like the story and characters to Hogwarts Mystery more than anything JKR had ever written, since not only is your rival a girl regardless of your main character's gender, she's pretty complex as well. I loved making my character act aggressively friendly towards her despite her trying so hard to be a stereotypical Slytherin bully, which ends up flustering her even more until she finally becomes a friend (and potential romance option, ALSO regardless of your character's gender. Because, unlike its source material, Portkey Games says LGBT rights).

We have to put my dog down today and this video is already comforting me. Books are my comfort, and taking about them with friends is even more one of my comforts

It was kind of therapeutic watching you cook despite the indiscriminate knife wielding lol I hope it helped (re what you said in the thumbnail) and you feel better soon/find ways to cope like cooking etc. For the past couple weeks I've been planning my days with a points system (eg. 2 points for doing laundry, 5 for going to class, even 2 for rest time so I actually rest and don't feel guilty about it) and doing my tally at the end of the day reminds me I've achieved stuff. Not to give unsolicited advice as I know that's annoying lol but I can relate to a lot of what you say about your depression (though anxiety is usually the bigger problem for me) and I just wanted to share. Feel free to ignore! Just the cooking/self-care thing made me think of it. Great video as always :)

I like your points system idea!

You know, with Cindy's channel, watching the video is not the only entertainment. I wonder how many people also reads the comment section, and see how Cindy responds to the comments. Cindy, have you ever gotten absolutely random one word comments? Like "Ponies~!!" For example, I feel since you're very responsive, some people would do that just to see what you'd respond with. Okay...not some people, I low-key wanted to do that but resisted. As many have said before, watching you hold a knife and waving it around was sorta making me nervous, but also kind of helped me with the stressfulness of this year, and simply this week too! This week has been really hard for so many reasons.

I would totally love to read Mexican Gothic as a mexican myself to see how historically accurate it is, you mentioned certain things about colonization and Spaniards that are commonly learned in schools like the mansion with the whole family that lives in it is most probably an hacienda (in how you described it) I think the more you learn about these things, the better experience you'll have reading, bringing more attention to the little details. The book may not be focused on the historic side of things but I guess I'll have to find out ;)

This video is so wholesome. It feels like I'm just sitting in your kitchen and we are talking about books like how people talk about their adulthood gone wrong while cooking some mushrooms 💖

1) love watching u cook, gives me hope that someday maybe ill be able to too 2) love these multitasking videos 3) i cant believe theres a song that sings about lips why was it made to fit this book, so oddly perfect 4) point a knife at me anyday i love listening to u rant about books 5) ur videos never fail to make my day better :)

Also yes a deadly education sounds just like a drarry fanfic, the ridiculously bitchy mean character x the Himbo hero is exactly the most beloved dynamic the fandom chooses for most of their drarry fanfics esp the 8th year AUs so I understand why people might say it's adapted from Novik's own stash of fanfic And that's ok bc fanfics are awesome and this "criticism" more than any praise makes me want to read this book
