Subscribed to C-squared a couple of weeks ago. I'm really enjoying it. Knowing that Fabi was considered a master of the Petrov I always wondered if he had encountered the Stafford. It was great to see this crossover video.
I love hearing chess players run through the variations verbally. At least when we get a board to follow along. Listening to Fabi run his king out to the middle of the board, calmly running into no man's land of imagination. So fun.

Its maybe kind of obvious that one of the best chess players is able to refute a gambit like this... but the ease at which he plays near top moves just off of quick calculation and intuition is so incredible. Its something about the way Fabi identifies a threat and immediately finds the first or second most optimal way to counter it. Fascinating stuff

Idk about how engine evaluate the position from the beginning to the end, but I believe Eric getting out of his prep also contributes to him losing the game, so I can't really say whether if it's actually refuted or Eric made a blunder in one of the position.

I’ve been watching this kind of stuff regularly for about 4 years now and have found I can now keep up with the verbal lines at full speed unless they go beyond 5 or 6 moves deep. At that point I generally need to pause. I struggled to follow a 5-minute blitz game to begin with, just listening to commentary and watching the moves on the board. So it does improve with time (and active viewing). It’s a lot easier for kids though.
I love the fact Fabi says oh no my king. We know he’s in on it.
Stafford causing so much heat on the board, you can literally see the fire.
Eric Rosen being Eric Rosen is the best content.
9:13 "Then knight G4 is winning". It's so scary that he realised that fast of the trap even before Eric told him. This top gm's are monsters.
Great video, perfect ending and really interesting to see caruana refuting lines in his head. Sometimes you get glimpses of just how far ahead 2800 players are
Chess is fascinating. So many videos I watched on Stafford. Still this game was very interesting
So wholesome of Caruana to be watching Eric's videos, even though he is a super GM! Mutual respect! 👍
Crazy how he didn't even remember it, but achieves to get the best response
The chess player with the best prep against Caruana
omg imagine if fabi, the undisputed master of the petrov, actually follows through and adds the Stafford to his repertoire? this isn't going to be Eric's opening anymore lol

Dude i never realized how good the chemistry was between fabi and Eric! Great vid ! Love the Stafford
This was really fun and fascinating, thanks for sharing.
Eric you should make a video analyzing the TT stafford games that Fabiano plays!
fabi is so low key, an absolute legend. also that ending was unintenionally (intentionally?) hilarious
A fun yet relaxing game! Loved' 1:34 when Fabiano asked that as he knew what it would do, but maybe not exactly how it would go. Though he did refute it successfully and it turned out to be a pretty regular game with great banter.
Wow Fabi in the endgame is amazingly calm! Great game Eric, always love Stafford
Nice show you guys have here. Good concept of production quality, current topics, guests.
Eric and Fabi are great chess minds! Love watching their games.
Perfect cut 😂 Loved the video
LMAO ERIC! Nice editing "Are we gone make a cut here--" CUT
Great to see the London Chess Community mugs on display. A small but regular group from London, England getting out there on the world stage with Fabi & Eric. 🤩
Very good and professional cut at the end
So i am watching this video 12:40 midnight, is it ok that i have been watching videos for the past two hours, but this one is what let my eyes really shut? Damn these voices are gentle.
Two of the most likeable chess personalities playing casual chess -- such a delight to watch!
haha "are we going to make a cut here?"
GM's saying "I'm very scared" in a deadpan voice is hilarious
Fabiano Caruana just seems genuinely lovely, he has a similarly chill, gentle manner to Eric actually. GG
That ending cut was golden
Eric, that grin in the beginning man haha.
That fire looks like it is in fast forward... With calm Rosen and calm Fabi it is like a Techno song stuffed between two classical songs.
Two solid dudes. Zero bully vibes
Finally, after a crappy day I get to see a new Eric Rosen video!
Fabiano Caruana is so mellow and chill, GG.
Fabi's "oh no my king!" was the best piece of chess-related comedy I've ever seen.
so cool such an early crossover :D i'd love to play fabi some day, very cool

I thought you'd mention that you drew Levon Aronian in a fun game once. Very humble
Ooo a promise by a Fabi to play the stafford?! Cant wait! I assume we'll get a review from Eric
Eric was FORCEFUL on the clock by the end there
Very exciting that Fabiano will play stafford in next Titled Tuesday!
how nice NOW to see two great players confronting openly and honestly their ideas whilst there are some other players unable to analyze their games after winning against the world chess champion, running away from serious anticheat tests, running away from interviews, etc... that was disturbing. Thank you so much Eric e, Fabiano, torna in Italia!
Very cool I really enjoyed this
That was awesome!
"Eric Rosen, chess professional, wearing so many hats." - I have never seen Eric wear a single hat, good sir!
eric youve GOT to cover fabis stafford gambit titled tuesday!
I'm loving this more casual format where the players talk to each other about the game and tell us what they're thinking in real time.
I like how this video ended 🤣 Very nice
Cool to hang out with Fabi
“It’s back to being a gambit” is such a passive aggressive thing to say after winning a pawn
Fun 🎉 you're the best Eric!
That ending made me laugh. "Are we gonna make a cut here?"
Eric knowing he's going to lose starts slamming the clock like it's his enemy
Such awesome ppl. How cool would it be to just hang out with these guys.. oh wait!..I am! Let's go!
Next up... Analysis of this game... It would be crazy to see what went wrong... Coz your analysis even after Magnus game was awesome 🔥 And I love how you experiment without worrying about winning or losing❤️❤️

"What went wrong" is maybe the wrong way to phrase it, since Stafford gambit is a dubious (so probably losing) opening. Something has to go right, or at least be drawn, to go wrong.

@@josonic Still... Eric Rosen plays his moves wisely... We can say... Taking calculated risk... So I would still like to see what not to play and what could have been the alternate line for it... Fabi is no doubt an amazing GM but he must played a move which could have given Eric an edge over Fabi... But we will find out after Eric post a video of the analysis of this game ✌🏻

@@eshantrkumar3951 instead if h5 he could've played Qd4 (which he knows, he mentioned it in the vid), engine likes Qd4 better. Then after Qe2 Qd6 isn't amazing, tho not that bad, engine also doesn't like the trade of bishops too much (prefers Bb4 after Be3 instead of Bxe3). And it really hates taking the h2 pawn. Says white is like +3 after that (was about +2 before that). After that not really any big mistakes, just slowly got worse and worse.
"I'm not sure you have my best interests in mind..." 😂
Such a sick colab. Big D energy in that room
Eric: "are we gonna make a cut here..?" [CUT]
The duality that Eric also teaches London system which is closed position and slow game yet he also popularized stafford gambit which is so aggressive and needs to be played very accurately to win😂
Amaizing game, really amaizing strategy for white to move Qa3+Qa8 then Ra7
"Are we gonna make a cut here" as it cuts is a very Eric Rosen way of ending the video
oh hey when Fabi plays stafford in titled tuesday, i hope Eric uploads it
Fabi is going to reference Eric's videos, amazing. What a great day
Yes, Eric is back!
How they can remember all these moves is just crazy to me.
How do you get out of prep within ten moves of an opening that you have been living-breathing for the last few years?
Let’s go!!
That was awesome
7:45 rook h1 loses to rook h5 threatening to win the rook and threatening queen a1 mate
Queen to a3 trade queens because your pinned then move pawns down. Cool game and commentary thank you
Hey, they did make a cut there! good game Eric!
That fireplace is pretty cool by the way
Instead of getting trapped by the spider web, Fabi flicks it away with one pinky. "Here, have your pawn back, your position is still a wreck."
Ohh my it's like Christmas!
Oh no my ending cut !
When Fabiano says "your openning" to Eric kinda shows how it could be called the Rosen Gambit
