Omg I ordered a 69686 from an online plant shop a few states away (US) and it arrived half dried up and half rotted and I contacted the shop and they only gave me a 10% off coupon for “next time” 😭 I thought maybe it was just my luck but now I know, I’m currently trying to prop the remaining stem 🤞

Maybe for the philodendron 69686 you could do a pick-up only kinda thing? It sucks for people outside of the UK but if you can't ship or sell them otherwise I think that's pretty fair

I tend to also think this is the best option. Maybe offer them at a discount with no guarantee, and if you don't want to sell them directly from your warehouse shop you could arrange a different pickup location.

On a note of the Philodendron 69686: some of my local nurseries do semi-online ordering and shipping but some of the more travel sensitive plants they’ll do as local pick up only. Maybe you could just try to sell them for local pick up (like curbside or meeting up somewhere)

Oh, I feel the salt! I have so many regrets. Bought a monstera albo cutting without checking the roots closely in the picture first, it rotted completely and died. Bought a pastazanum and then realized I actually wanted a McDowell. And several common plants I have bought just because I wanted to buy a plant, and then I've realized I don't love them and they take up space.

Oh no. That begonia. I have a few begonia that have a sort of 'iridescent' sheen on their leaves, which, at the right angle, turn the same colour blue as in that pic and as soon as you brought it up I felt so bad for you. They're super pretty imo, but no, not actually a true blue leaf. One of my regret!plants is my homalomena rubescens maggy. No one told me they get that big. NO ONE TOLD ME. So I bought it and it quadruples in size over the first summer. Then keeps on growing right up into the winter. Just. KEEPS ON GROWING. And by the end of the year, I had trouble getting the thing out the door. I split it into 4 separate plants (super easy plant to propagate at least, just split it up and off you go) not including the mother plant, and gave away all of the spares. Didn't even sell them. I just gave those mofos away to anyone who would take 'em. Now the mother plant as almost as big as it was. Again. It sits on a trolley cart in my spare room. So at least that way I can wheel the goddamn thing around if I need to move it now but. Really.

My biggest plant regret, spending over $500 AUD on a Thai Constellation. They listed it as a large plant showing lovely images, clearly not the plant I would receive. The old-fashioned solution to dealing with little - 0 (zero) roots on scions/clones/cuttings... is to cut the leaves in 1/2s, 1/4s, 1/3s etc, reducing transpiration of moisture while the roots establish themselves. Having them in a humid condition can also help (like rehabbing them in a tall pot with holes-in cling-wrap over it. Choose the cutting protocols suitable for the plant type - like diamond or straight cut and how much to remove. Also, depending on how much root system there is, having fewer leaves may also be beneficial - start by removing the older/lower leaves. And keeping 1-3 cut leaves on the crown is avg. I know this technique may not be popular, especially for foliage plants. But it's a technique I took from working with fruit trees... and the technique works well for ornamental and variegated plants also.

Love your video's. The one thing i regreted is my big monstera large form for sure. I bought it from a older couple, and it was covered in scale. However i always love to let super sad/sick plants shine again, so i was up for the task! The previous owner watered before i picked it up and i waited to let it dry out before repotting. But that didnt work... It stayed wet, so i took it out of the pot.... Smelled awfull!!! It was completely rotted, not one root was one it. They neglected it so much. They had it for 10 years, without a moss pole so the stems where all twisted and weird. So i have 20 cuttings and 8 big monstera stems in buckets with water that are taking over my bedroom now. It is so sad cause i loved it so much, and it was my first big wishlist plant and my Christmas present for myself. There where couple leaves with couple rows of fenestration, but they fell of now.. I still hope i can save them, but their not looking great... Worst plant i have ever bought. I'm gonna back down on saving sick plants for a bit 🤷would love to have a healthy one and a thai, but nervous about it when all the cuttings are staring at me all sad. Lets see how this is gonna go🤞 Enjoying your video's a lot, great energy and you are verry straight to the point, love it. Hugs from Holland (@ilsevdd)

I got a variegated Alocasia odora last year. It’s been staying consistently variegated / no reversion. It’s also throwing out variegated pups 🙂 So I think maybe it depends on the Alocasia variety? I do give it high light (under T5 led full spectrum lights) so that could be a big part of it. Do you still have the variegated Dragonscale? PS: I’d love to see a video about tips for bringing back variegation.

Hi Kaylee! My suggestion for the Philodendron 69686: just keep selling them, but at a reduced price and with a clear disclaimer, like buying at your own risk, only recommended for experienced and patient people and no refunds. Your suggested video for the reverting variegated Alocasia would be nice! Another suggestion for a video: a rare plant index or some top 10 for small / compact rare plants. Some of us only have space on windowsills. :(

I bought a Raphidophora tetrasperma a little while ago that I was catfished into thinking it was variegated. It turned out that the pictures were just taken in a dappled light setting, but it still seemed like that was the intention. I felt like I paid too much for it, although it was certainly not bank-breaking. I've grown to love it after a while now. Now, it suffered a lot from our Texas freeze and power outage, and all the leaves except for the growing tip have died. I'm planning on cutting it down and starting it over.

You could totally do a setup with grow lights to keep your pavonina looking blue. Because the leaves grow toward the light and the flash comes from when your eye and the light are at the same angle. Again, it’ll only be when you’re standing by the light. I have mine set up across the room from a window and whenever I pass by the window and look over at it it’s blue.

You should do a pop up somewhere in the spring and sell the 69686's there! Or something like a farmers market or something? Sell them to a nursery?

I was one of the P 69686 customers, I was sad went it took a rapid dive (and I mean RAPID and DRAMATIC! ). But the no fuss refund made it OK and I'd buy from the shop again, these things happen. I live not too far away so would be happy to try a local pick up.......

I regret my alocasia polly, I love her but she got sick and I had to cut off most of her leaves and she started growing a new one but it stopped. I regret my tradescantia nanouk because the seller lied about the size and I was supposed to get a 6in plant what I got were two rooted cuttings and a rotted one so that thing is tiny and going to take AGES to be big and beautiful. I also regret my "lemon lime rubber tree" I have no idea what it actually is because I've never seen another one like it but it is the SLOWEST grower of all my plants (though also it's the healthiest/best looking) it just doesn't do anything. Maybe two leaves a year if I'm lucky.

OMG...I'm so sad that you didn't get to experience the awesomeness of Begonia pavonina. I totally get it....I think I originally experienced that lack luster feeling when I got my 1st one. And then I ended up getting a second one only because it was part of another lack luster deal, but then in trying to revive them both( because I ended up neglecting them), I got to witness how awesome they actually are (even without a flash). I think it partially required high humidity, but also seems to need light at you mentioned but when it happens from just the natural surrounding light.....holy cow....so amazing!!!!

Yeah, that kind of blue is only possible as a structural color that reflects and warps light to irridesce blue. Pigmented blue could never be that vibrant. But because it's structural, it only looks that way under the right conditions and at the right angles. It's a really neat plant as long as you don't expect it to be something impossible.
