I open 50 sealed RCA Selectavision CED Videodiscs, Unboxing!

I made this video a while back while I was going through my collection. When the discs are left sealed, the shrink wrap will continue to shrink over time. This forces the spine down into the caddy causing issues with the caddy and the loading of the disc in the players. If I wish to leave a disc sealed to protect the artwork, I will still make a slit along the top of the shrink wrap to prevent the spine from being forced into the caddy. You'll notice a lot of these ones I open have that slit already. But I wanted to open all these so I can watch them. The thing about sealed CED discs is, yes the artwork is usually in mint condition, but the disc inside can still be ruined if it is cracked or if the disc was stacked at some point and crushed the grooves of the disc to where the stylus will just keep skipping grooves. So a sealed disc does not always mean a perfect disc. Keep this in mind when buying or selling these. These are about 50 discs that I opened, but I have opened hundreds during my years of collecting, and I am sure that there are still thousands of sealed discs out there. Open them and enjoy them!

So glad to see the CED is still alive. A good part of my career was spent at RCA in R&D.

That's a great collection. It's hard to find them new in mint condition.

Why would you unseal these? Crazy. That enemy mine, might have been the only remaining sealed copy left. They're super rare.

Because leaving them sealed pushes the spine down into the caddy and splits it. Plus these are records so most of them have stacking damage even if they were sealed. So a sealed disc doesn't mean it's going to be a good condition disc. There really is no point in leaving them sealed.

@@ketonicdude For collectors purposes. I would have given you my unsealed copy of enemy mine plus $100 for it. :(

It's more fun to open them. I'm sure there is still a sealed copy out there somewhere if you look hard enough. I think I've probably seen every single title sealed at some point in my collecting, which has only been about 13 years now. Just look on eBay, tons of sealed ones on there. @@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism

I'd say it come up a bit more than that. One just sold on ebay about 10 days ago. It's funny because it was listed for $10 and nobody bid on it and then the seller relisted BIN for $30 and someone bought it. lol Not really a super expensive title when you look at how much titles like The Goonies, and Back to the Future consistently sell for. @@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism
