I Only Ate Avatar The Last Airbender Foods For 24 Hours
Фильм және анимация
From flaming fire flakes, to Aang's favorite fruit pie, to Aunt Wu's tofu puffs, and even a secret cabbage cookie recipe from the cabbage merchant, I challenged myself to only make and eat some of Avatar: The Last Airbender's most iconic foods for 24 hours. Water, Earth, Fire, Air... at least one from each nation! I spent the last two weeks doing research and prep, so I could try and make a version of each dish that's as in-universally accurate as possible - did we know that each nation's cuisine is inspired by a real life counterpart?! As someone whose comfort show is ATLA, and someone who really wants to do the dishes justice, I really hope you'll enjoy seeing these foods come together - you bet I had the OST playing in the background the whole time.
A very special thank you to Steven and the "water tribe" team at Aquabest ( / aquabestnyc , and also shoutout to Jenny ( / chefjennydorsey ) for her fantastic recipes! You can find the official cookbook here: amzn.to/3IF8Bnv

this is a 30 minute beast, but there’s so much to make, and to talk about!! did you have a favorite, and is there another 24 hours challenge you want to see?

Maybe food from the anime “food wars”? It has some weird “elements” if you know what I mean but the food does look delicious! Amazing video btw Avatar is one of the best shows ever made!

I disagree Netflix didn't do a good job. Whether it's the script or bad/inexperienced actors the acting and delivery of dialogue felt unnatural and cold and the characters especially uncle iroh and soka don't have the same charm they had in the original animated series. Not to mention it feels like they assume the audience is stupid and seem to spoon feed plot points to us. Not to mention it feels like less happens the long live action episodes than in the shorter cartoon episodes
@Sokkawakkawakaa

I actually laughed at Sokka's jokes and his expressions, and I cried in many uncle Iroh's scenes. the script could be better, but this is a massive upgrade from the movie and at least a fun show. many people who hasn't watched the OG actually felt the expositions quite helpful, although I agree they could tone it down in that part. Og show watchers tend to be very critical about this part as they already know the story for years, but actually, even Katara's exposition intro is played in the beginning of all 61 episodes and people r okay with it. It does feels less happens in the 1 hr format show vs 20 minutes episodic show because you dont have room to breathe like the 20 mins show.(no breaks) the 20 mins show only covers 1 story each episodes and is literally a kids animation show, you get time to breathe in and absorbing the show doesn't feel as heavy, whereas live action show has to mashed 3 animated episodes stories to 1 episodes and connect the plot to have the same motive and lesson + it being live action the feel is gonna be grander and heavier, so naturally 1 hr show would feel less longer than what it actually is because of the packed storyline. for the troubles and budget they got, they did a good job, 7.5/10.@@benmorris7276

@@Sokkawakkawakaa I grew up watching the original I felt with the Netflix adaptation that his jokes didn't really land the same and he was missing his charm the delivery just felt cold or poorly acted. With uncle iroh net Flix seemed to make his character too serious he lacked his care free charm and insightful wisdom. The writing on the live action just didn't land well. And trying to mash 3 episodes into one does not work at all this is just my opinion I do not find that Netflix did the last Airbender justice with this live action adaptation I get that they tried to make it more serious and adult but my stuffing 3 different episodes of plot in to one episode it made it feel like they had to spoon feed plot points to the audience. If they just stuck to 1 or episodes of plot I feel they could have added more details and painted a bigger picture. But also the chemistry with the cast just wasn't there and the acting felt cold, unnatural and forced

the sheer amount of research and effort that's gone into this, my jaw dropped. It was almost indulgent and definitely inspirational to watch how much heart and soul you put into your craft. Hats off Inga, big fan!!
The fire flakes is very similar to a traditional South Indian snack, we call it "Sandige" in my language. But we don't add shrimp stock to it. We just boil the tapioca pearls with water, salt and cumin seeds, scoop small quantities on a large piece of cloth or plastic sheet and dry it in the sun. Once its completely dried, we fry it in oil and serve it with our meal to snack on the side. Very interesting to see a dish similar to that in your video. Love from India! 🤍
@voidlove.

that sounds amazing! i’m from india too, punjab specifically, and i remember how people would dry chillies out in the sun for i’m assuming achar and other things. your comment reminded me of that. good times haha.

stuffed tofu puffs reminds me of Yong Tau Foo we had in Malaysia where we had fish paste filling instead.

I’m so happy to hear this 🥹🥹 thank you thank you
this woman is the epitome of a chef. Amazing attention to the details and research. Love the way she describes food and elements of the dish. Greatly dedicated to cooking♡
THIS IS EVERYTHING!!!!!! Also I forage for wild mushrooms and morels are a highly coveted mushroom. If you eat them fresh on their own sautéed in butter they have a delicious, rich nutty flavor they are wonderful. I have worked in some fine dining places in the kitchen and your technique and these recipes are absolutely wonderful. I am so obsessed with Avatar, it's my comfort show since I was in foster care as a kid and I still play it to this day. The amount of effort and love you put into this video really shows.
This is by far the most interesting cooking video I've watched. I've never thought a TV series inspired food could be so interesting and I definitely want to try out the Taro paste, looks so yum!
the AMOUNT of flavors coming through my screen is insane... thank you for making this type of content: you give me alot of motivation to cook more complex dishes every time you post a new video
She just put a video about food in the avatar world taken care of all the details and a well explained experience that I felt that I was eating with her and also she added a special mention to the cabbage guy. I love her ❤
sooo much effort goes in these kind of videos…. hats off to your dedication👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Avatar was my childhood and I appreciate how dedicated you were to studying the cuisines and their backgrounds as well
Wonderful, A+ use of duck fat! Remaining very faithful to the recipes and the appearance really fits the book descriptions. You're not really wasting anything, and I approve. You get a Fat Foxy Gold Star.
You are so brave to try the stewed “sea prunes” after Aangs face in the show, lol. This all looked so good, and I really want to get the cookbook now so I can try a few of these! In another note, if you ever want to find edible cactus, try your local Mexican market! ❤ You can just ask them if they have cactus or nopal.
Mannnnn Inga is 100% the most underrated channel on youtube. You should have millions of subs ISTG
My heart broke a little over the whole duck going in the broth instead of just the head feet and bones. And i always thought seaprunes were sea cucumbers. I also assumed the purple thing on top of the airnomad pies was ube pudding
So much effort, but it looks like it paid off in the end? Everything looks so, so tasty and I definitely would have Sokka's reaction to the fire flakes, but I still want to try, you made them look so yummy!
Seeing this foods in real life has increase the cravings for them 😭
Wow, masterful attention to detail and execution! So aesthetically pleasing and satisfying. Thank you for the care you put into your videos! Definitely a treat to watch.
Love this so much Inga!!! Fantastic job well done!!! Hope to see more of this type of content!🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I just finished watching the live action series over the weekend and loved it. This was really a great video and I love that you cooked the foods you did.

OMG this video is so well done and clearly took a bunch of research planning and cookin hahaha love it ❤ and the cultural backgrounds are so interesting
This was amazing Inga!! I love the animated series and it was cool to watch you make it IRL. I didn’t know they have an official cookbook. I like how each nation draws inspiration from real places. I started watching the live action show on Netflix and it feels rushed and not enough detail was put in it
Thanks for your videos Inga, you have such a positive, cheerful attitude in your videos it always cheers me up.
Amazing job as usual. Thanks for your hard work this video was the best one I've seen.
sweet episode, Inga! looks like it was a ton of work to put together, and you nailed it! thanks for the share!

So much hard work... "hot leaf juice" 😅 I'm totally stealing that one. I call coffee "dirty bean water." 😂

Great video Inga! Thank you for taking the challenge so seriously. As a avatar fan, It was beautiful to see the dishes 🍲🍵All the effort was worth it, you nailed it🎉 and to get Momo's hallucinations you can come to the Andes Mountains on South America and taste the San Pedro 🌵💫😜

Thank you for all the effort, that looked like an interesting challenge. I think a hobbit feast might also be fun to prepare.
I loved this video. I hope you make more recipes from this cookbook. I am a huge fan of Avatar the last Airbender. Bringing their food to Life is so exciting. I didn't know that there was an actual cookbook, I ordered it as soon as you held it up to the camera. I really want to make the stuffed tofu puffs. The cabbage cookies looked amazing. I wonder if adding caraway seeds would add even more flavor to them. The fire nation shrimp crackers looked amazing as well. I love spicy food 🔥

it's your best 24 hours series video so far!
This is so on point as I am rewarching the animated series and I see eveything here from the episodes I was on.
Incredible video! We need to see more Avatar recipes 😃
It was really good to see you make the Jasmine tea with the flowers; I had never thought of making tea with the flowers before I lived in Chengdu for a year and saw and made it they way they do. But, I will definitely try mixing green tea with Jasmine; great video!
That was an amazing video Keep up the work inga Always looking forward to watching your videos
Totally Amazing!!! I've shared your video with my three daughters who all grew up on the "Avatar" animated series straight on through the live action and "The Legend of Korra." This is a great way to connect with my daughters who are 26, 24 & 21!!!!! Oh yes AND EAT GREAT FOOD!!!!!! Also all of the shopping for the ingredients. NONE of the Instacart or Fresh Direct or any other delivered crap!!!!! That's the cultural education part of this endeavor. Thanks again, Queens NY is the most diverse place in the USA so I won't have any problem finding any of these ingredients although the cost may inhibit some purchases.
Please do another one. I love this!
This was so fun!!! I could have watched another hour of this! Thanks for all ur hard work that went into this !
I am absolutely blown away by your skills. Whoa. Incredible 🥹🫶🏻
Excellent job! This was fun to watch
This was awesome! All of the food looked amazing and made me hungry. So glad you’re an Avatar fan. It’s almost impossible not to be. Honestly you’ve always sorta reminded me of Toph and I never really put it together until just now. I’ll bet if you reached out to Michaela Jill Murphy (The voice of Toph) she’d do a collab video with you. Keep up the amazing work!
They look amazing! I would love it if you want to make more videos on this cookbook
You did justice to the cook book and the cartoon and everything. Well-done
The amount of work that goes into all of your videos is INCREDIBLE! This is amazing
You definitely did Avatar justice. Nice. So much work. Duly impressed.
Every single food you make looks so good ❤❤❤
Thank u for this. U worked so hard. Love avatar and love ur videos. Would love more avatar content. ❤
The food looks absolutely delish! I am sad now, bc my dinner consisted of yoghurt and some fruit :(( Also, that moment, when Inga wants to cook noodles and you think "She is going to use the clear pot" and the camera pans to said clear pot. You then know you have followed for a long time.
Hi, loved the video it was great and I really appreciated all the hard work you put in. Sorry this is odd topic, but I am dying to know where you got your breakfast t-shirt!!! ❤
