    It a shame that this car has a bad engine because it still looks really good. If this VW had the mechanics of a Toyota or Honda it would still be running perfectly with 160k. Hopefully a mechanic will buy the beetle fix the engine and get it running again.

    This is when I realize I’m not an actual mechanic lol 😂 booooo But yeah it’s all there and looks great! Even the door panels!

    7:00 El humo puede ser por el aceite q cae sobre el colector de escape, pero ese motor debia tener backpressure, .... Es decir que la valvula o respirador de la tapa de valvulas estaba bloqueada.

    You saw how much oil is built up on that egr value... Thats blow by past the value guides in the heads... the turbo fins are probably caked with burnt oil also... not letting the air go past the turbo fins... if the time belt was even off by a tooth it wouldn't start.. plus 2 teeth off the piston would hit the values.... I hate turbos and those computerized diesel pumps... like I said the value guides in the heads always go out 1st... 23.5 to 1 compression...! like 350 pounds of pressure per square inch... to make it burn that diesel fuel oil.... That Canadian 1.9 non turbo with a manual diesel pump is a much better engine... I like diesels... if you know the nature of this beast it's pretty simple.... too many cp chips in these vw diesels.... I always said if the turbo went out I would throw the whole thing away and put a stock exhaust manifold on it... with turbo motors they need 2 oil filters on a turbo engines to keep that oil as clean as it can be. so the bearings and seals stay in good shape.. these cars are worth good money if the engines are good...

    @@jkrebuilt You can do a value job on it or just sell it as is... I would pull the head off... reseat the values after replacing the value guide seats... when the values are closed their should be no air going into or past the value into the value cover... same goes when the value is open... unless the guides for the values are really wore or their is a crack inbetween the 2 values.. the air should be in the exhaust... not the value cover...That's blow by... Their is so much blow by that it is blowing past the oil file cap when it's in place... Thats alot of blow by... I have in framed rebuilt many of these engines... after the head is off.. I take the oil pan off.. take off the rod end caps and bearings and push the pistons out the top of the motor.. I re ring the pistons.. run a hone thru the cylinders.. put new bearings on the rod ends... do the value guides and its good to go again... sometimes you can just rebuild the head on these alone... and not replace the piston rings... sometimes.... how many miles are on this engine? the old diesel vw's can only go about 150,000 on the head... They will sometimes crack in between the 2 values... but the guides always wear fast and always go out 1st... the rest of the engine doesn't... the newer diesel engines can get closer to 250,000 miles before you have to replace the head or rebuild it... Most people take poor care of these diesel motors.. I have not found one for sale yet in good condition.. People run them into the ground... and most just throw the whole car away... My little caddy diesel pickup still has the original starter on it after over 1 million miles... I have put 5 heads on it or i just rebuild them if their is no cracks... 350 pounds per square inch is alot of pressure.. they have no spark plugs... the pressure makes the diesel oil fuel burn... that's why you have to let the glow plugs warm up to start it... many people will sale these cars when their is just a couple glow plugs not working.. < thats a easy fix... if you take that oil fill cap off when its running.. you will see tons of air blowing into that value cover.. thats not good... look at all the oil all over your car after just reving it up a little... thats with the cap on... take it off and you will have oil all over you (0: even the gas vw's... if you use good oil they last forever... I have one gas vw with over 300,000 and no blow by at all.. it's just like new... I have been doing this stuff since I was only 9 years old.. I was rebuilding motorcycles for the shops at 12 years of age... I can build & machine & design most anything... My dad had a auto parts store and a machine shop.. I learned fast (0: I don't pay anyone to do anything for me.. unless your a doctor lmao (0;

    @@markbohn6534 oh wow thank you for all the info!!!! You’re very knowledgeable! I know nothin… nada…zero… about removing engines or heads or anything lol 😂 plus it’s not worth it to me for what the car can sell for sooooo I JUST sold it today! Lost a couple hundred bucks but I’m moving on. Thought it would be a quick flip. I was wrong. I gotta be more careful when picking these up lol 😂 thanks again for the info and yes there was soooo much oil going everywhere even if I removed the dipstick lol The car had 169k miles and don’t think it was well taken care of. Not only the engine but the trans prob needed rebuilt too. The previous owner told me once warm, it would shift hard. I replaced the solenoids on a 09G and it was fixed but this had the DSG which is a completely different beast. Thanks again and hope you had a great beginning of the year!
