I make the BEST moss poles now
When I've looked up how to make a moss pole, I see the same tutorials. I've made DIY moss poles in the past, I wasn't that happy. This moss pole that I've made cuts down on a lot of the complications and solves a lot of the problems I've had with moss poles in the past. Made with power tools and PVC pipe, this moss pole requires no netting, no wires, no zip ties.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!! Very easy to make and solves two problems that literally no other moss pole addresses: reusability and getting plants out of them without mangling the roots. The only downside is decreased exposed area for plants to climb compared with D-shaped moss poles (can fit more stems on these), but the pros far outweigh this one con. I have several plants that have been happily climbing these poles for about six months now. I did not make the separate bottom piece and have not had issues with roots wrapping around. Can't thank you enough Lee!
I love the cameo from the Leca Queen I follow both of you and you've both been super helpful in my plant journeys.
Ok the phone call w the leca queen cracked me up 😂
There’s so many benefits to this design IMO opinion, especially when removing plants for propagation. It may seem harder for people who aren’t that competent with power tools but if you know how to use them this would be so quick. Nice job!
What a genius you are! I love your sense of humor as you educate us on plant care. And what a surprise to see Nora, The Leca Queen at the end! Keep up the tutorials. Appreciate you! 👍 Dee, Long Island, NY

I so appreciate it when smart people like you take the time to figure out and share brilliant solutions like this (many thanks)!
Power tools, acetone, spray paint, goggles and mask…. No, I stick with the netting poles with a steel rod as extra support. They can be made at my dining table without making a mess to be cleaned afterwards. But I’ll give you a thumbs up for your ingenuity! 👍🏻

Awwww!!! Silly Nora! She can’t reasonably expect to be the LECA Queen AND the moss pole Queen, now can she? 🫤 I LOVE your moss poles, Lee! We’ll done! 🙌❤️
The Nora cameo was so hilarious! I live in an apartment and don't have a workbench or tools so I probably won't use this but I 100000% would if I could! As an engineer, this method just makes my heart sing. The ingenuity... I love it.

I love this! This is exactly the type of moss pole I was looking for. Open front, solid back, easy to extend or replace THANK YOU.
This is a great video. I'm not a gardener by any means, but I am a construction worker so I can speak to the ease of the pole you built! it does look very easy. Good stuff. :)
That's amazing! Even better for my personal situation because I will only start the moss pole project for the first time ever. So amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this!
This is what I was looking for: easy, light, expandable. Thanks a lot.
This is amazingly genius!!! Hope you get all credit for this once the world catches on and starts using them! ❤
You’re doing it right. I love your info and your personality in sharing it!
Love it! Don’t mess with Nora! I have two of her type moss poles up and I’m looking to try some new ideas 💡 thank you 🙏✌️
In the UK you can get Gutters which unlike pipes are already cut in half. Then just use the attachments to put together. Oh and they come in brown and black! Great idea by the way.
Ok wait I commented to soon before the finale with Nora stinking genius
So smart and your voice is so calming. My 6 y/o said we should try that mommy. You even convinced her. Daddy has a project to do for our plants. Ty.

This is awesome!!! Can not wait to get these made
This is brilliant! Well done!
Brilliant! I like how the base is low and not so much in the way while you fill the pot with soil.
I think this is brilliant! No reason why the tubes themselves can't be coated in something like window sealant (not the stuff with the mould inhibitor) and rolled in dry coir compost to make it look more natural. Lots of people do that to make terrarium backgrounds, fake roots and vines, so why not a moss pole? Maybe the roots would grow onto it, but then I had one that grew onto the paint on a cupboard door so...

Holy cow. So brilliant I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging open. I don't have the skills or tools but I"m sending this video to folks who could maybe help me out. I hope you know you're a genius. ❤
My favorite video of yours so far. Well done!!! Seems like the key elements are to enclose as much of your pole as possible while giving your plant stems enough surface area to root into. Love the no grid aspect and minimum fasteners. And yes yes yes on the matte black and making pieces in bulk for easy future maintenance. The lazy pole with clear bendy plastic is pretty easy too. I used acrylic stakes for support and cut the plastic to create a ‘C’ shape. Then I cut plastic strips to fit around the plastic, moss and stem. I cut the width to fit in between the petioles. I add moss and fasteners as the plant grows. The clear plastic backing is barely visible and extends around 1/3 higher than the total height of the plant. KZreadrs youdontevengrowhere and unplantparenthood give some great examples. But your version is definitely more substantial which seems more ideal when strong support is beneficial (like when pets or people may knock into them). Grateful for this inspiration!

I think they both use the ones North Shore Tropicals developed? I like that design and I really like north Shore Tropicals but I do think you have to have concerns about stability once you get more than one. Thanks for the comment. Your idea sounds great. Send me pictures of what it looks like on insta
@aplantprocess

@@KillThisPlant, I hope my stakes inside the plastic provides adequate stability but nothing like the stability of yours. Your version is genius. But… I don’t expect to extend my plastic poles much so it isn’t a huge concern. Instead, I think I can chop and prop without too much of a disruption to the plant once they have roots growing well into the moss. I tagged you on a post of some examples of my experiments. Guessing you’re tagged a lot. You can find my pole pictures 😂 on #aplantprocess.

Super informative and straightforward thank you for sharing! Favorite line, rude and it hurts my feelings, 😆 love your videos!
Great Idea
I wouldn't say it's the best or the easiest but it is another option for some. The tools required alone cancels most people out of being able to make their own or even possibly being charged to have them cut to size. You could patent and market the idea though or just make some to sell. I would also consider trying to see how easily it would hold the moss with both sides cut out as another option. For folks who like fuller plants, plants on both sides or even less of the pipe visually to worry about aesthetics wise.
@lindseysgreencanvas
6 ай бұрын
right, power tools automatically make it impossible for me. I can make the mesh fronts with plastic backing all from products I can find online and be delivered. Plus I want to see inside the poles to see the plant roots. My only concern with the PVC poles and cutting out both sides like you suggested, would keeping the moss damp if they're that open. It would be great though for air circulation and keeping pests out, but you'd definitely be spraying them down once a day, which is already a huge complaint for a lot of moss pole users, they don't have the time.
Great idea and fun video 😊
Omg. I have heard this Idea for so long but been lazy to do it 😂 But I'm glad you show us how and what to buy and do.
