Quick video showing most of the steps I use in making a small carving tool. In this instance it is a small skew, sharpened on both sides. I made this one for one of the carves on our Facebook Group "Just Carve and Stuff". Eddie Miller had asked if I had seen a small skew between a mini and a micro and I had no so I decided to make him one to try. The cutting end is made from a Recipe saw blade and the handle from some Maple I had laying around. The skews he has are only sharpened on one side and this one is sharpened on both sides and I am anxiously waiting to see if it will work for him. Once again my thanks go the Jesse Herrin for allowing me to use his music "In Our Pockets" as the background song!

Nice job Peter. I have made alot of my own knives and some skews. Figured out its way more enjoyable when you make your own tools. ❤ Dont own a wood lathe but I am going to build a small one. Just working out details for my end stock. Just big enough to make handles and maybe pens.

Cool. Thanks for watching and I sure agree about making your own tools. I have made a bunch of lathe stuff and if I had known I probably would only have bought some gouges cause about everything else can be made. Sure hope you share your build with us.
