Nice. Is that spanner you used on the dremel a standard dremel spanner set in a piece of wood?

Yup I’m old and the larger handle helps me get a grip😁
Hi Pete, question. What grit do you typically run when sanding for cleaning up rough wood? Does very coarse, say 36 grit, get to be too much load on a flex shaft?

I don’t like really coarse for most of my things cause the wood is usually soft. I would start my driftwood stuff about 100 or 120.

I forgot to mention that really coarse grit will be hard on your Dremel rather than the flex shaft but if you use a Foredom then no issue

I understand and a lot of carvers don't. If I was you I wouldn't use it too much to sand with coarser than 120. Best of luck and I hope you are able to add a Foredom at some point,@@mikeshellito6621
