Like table top role-playing games? I sure hope so! Today, I'll take you on a journey on how I successfully released my very own role-playing game on Kickstarter. It's called Snomes, and it's a mini tabletop role-playing game with a focus on magic and wintery gnomes. With its D6 based system, anyone with a standard six sided die can quickly jump in. Making it a great role-playing system for new players. From D&D to graphic designing, join along and enjoy the process of how I created Snomes.

While most P&P RPGs are made to give as much freedom and flexibility (with respect to character design, story and progression) as possible, I love the idea of taking the concept of a GM leading a few players through a story, but limiting the "possibility space" such that it becomes a real game again revolving around one or few core mechanics. It's like the genre of P&P is progressing by taking things away instead of adding.

Snomes looks so clean, and loads of fun! I've been playing D&D for years, and I always try to make my games comical and fun, and often succeed. But I have to agree! Lately, I've been feeling dragged down by all of minutia, mechanical nit-pick, and heavy or dark themes that often accompany the game inherently. I've tried and failed many times to make my own system, but this is inspiring!

Cool story, video and game! If youa re into small creativity-driven rol games, def look for FATE ! In a nutshel, FATE is a system where the players can choose what to do with their characters, anything, and is up to the Master and a couple limitant sentences how difficcult it should be for the character. Is a light and newcomer friendly system that I really like, good for setting fun stories fast too!

What are the mechanics of this game which make it stand out from other systems? Also, I’m a bit confused about the one system you mentioned, so please correct me if I’m wrong: Is there a 1/6 chance every time you roll for anything that you will trigger a single, predetermined effect?
@Goodgis
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but it's from a list of many and the players are encouraged to create their own. Normally, you'll have about 2-3 reckless reactions per session as you don't roll as much in the game. It's super chaotic and silly, and make it a fun and casual way to roleplay. :D
am i imagining things or is that the magicka 2 soundtrack? 0:51
goodgis, teach me your ways, im working on a game like d&d so please tell me what apps do u use to make the booklets and maps and just everything. if u know an app that uses AI to make art then please tell me I suck at it. well at least digital art my sis is a master at physical.
You inspired me to make my games
@Goodgis

That's awesome!
Hey D&D doesn't haves to be complicated math, DM's mostly do all of that for you, instead you and your table focus on creating fun stories! Rule of cool, modules, made up rules, whatever to make it fun! And it doesn't haves to necessarily be grimmy and dark. You make the game whatever you want, the rules are just a foundation that can be molded to your content, the world and environment can also be modify to your hearths content! And there are alternatives to D&D with less rules like City of Mist which is more focused on "todays goal is to make a fun or cool story in this imaginary world of ours" than "Todays goal is to finish the quest!" Also, the 1 rule in this game is fumble + wild magic on D&D. The chance of getting wild magic consequences rises everytime you successfully avoid them, making it more and more probable to happen, and when it happens anything from a table of 100 different consequences could happen, even made up consequences.
