Mostly cool. The forward pointing wings are only to be cool. They are just the right position to catch water and splash It up at the gas tank at slower speeds. If they were connected a little forward and pointed back then it would work. Ok it won't have that fantasy forward swept jet wing.

Today's kids in America, are too busy with self entitlement, video games, skipping school and such to be able to develop the creative skills necessary. They depend on Amazon and China manufacturers. Plus the technical instruction in the various schools is non existent. My son went through school without shop, woodworking, welding home economics and such, being offered. Thankfully he is very hands on with myself and my friends, who actually started shop class in 5th grade and continued to graduation. This project was a great experience. In his world if you want a Jet Ski, you build it. I like his water injection for exhaust noise suppression and cooling off the pipe.

There are a lot of tinkerers in Vietnam but historically, these innovators were not allowed to build contraptions. This is a cultural thing. I remember when I lived there as a kid back in the early 1970's under democratic government of South Vietnam, there were these two tinkerers who built their own airplane and flew it. Instead of hiring them to build weapons to fight the war, the government arrested them and threw them in jail, claiming that they were Communists. I am glad that today's Vietnam allows guys like this to build things and inspire people to innovate.

You're a "visionary"...... seeing this in your head & putting it out as a finished project is very fun to watch but better than that it tells others what is possible. I like the way you put the pipe for the drive shaft, I didn't see you make measurements so I guess you stuck it in there knowing you'd make the the work out later, after all, it's not like you had a plan to go by? Back to the "vision" of a spaceship.... now you've got me thinking about all of this & any old lawnmower engine will work. Thanks!

Amazing boat brother!!! Best boats you can make are using styrofoam and epoxy-resin, fiberglass or carbon fiber for the skins. Can't sink it and it weighs almost nothing! We've built stuff like that too here out of mahogany plywood for our vintage race boat's we run up and down the rivers in the US. I was amazed you didn't use any wood reinforcing along the bottom to keep it from twisting under torque of the engine or waves? But it definitely performs amazingly well for a 4 stroke Briggs and Stratton! I have one of those engines the 570cc Briggs with everything done to it from billet aluminum rods and pistons flywheel, to billet steel camshaft with a Eaton M-24 supercharger on the thing. They are animals for sure and with the good parts in them you can really make a lot of power with one! The head ports need a lot of work though for better flowing ports, but with a little time and a grinder you can make it happen fairly easily. If you're still running the governor on the engine and you wish to get more RPMs just replace the connecting rod's and valve spring's to handle the higher rpms. If you wish to get really fancy with it? They have all over eBay used 2 barrel intake manifolds and carburetors you will get a big change in power from and it's not a lot of money being used parts. We would run the dual port intakes with a large single carburetor like a flat slide Mic or something like that off a street bike engine makes tuning them that much easier for jets and parts. Otherwise awesome build my friend! Stay safe over on the other side of the world, there's lots of big fish in the rivers over there that eat people LMAO! Keep up the great work!

Amazing construction process. Concerns about hitting a wave or boat wake with those side wings and how hard they are going to dig in is there. The inverted nose like a surf board should defuse decent wake head on as surfers encounter. Not for us arm chair quarterbacks to worry about but hey we can all have things to say about something we didn’t actually build. Kudos to the creation.

That is really cool! One thing, I question whether the swept forward side wings are slowing you down and would a delta wing configuration be better. I noticed in one part of the video ( 11:38 ) the water was hitting the corner where the wing meets the hull. The water was directed up. I realize that once the craft is on plane this is no longer a problem provided you're travelling straight but what happens in a sharp turn. I'd be concerned the wing may dig in and the craft becomes unpredictable in the turn causing a tighter turn than intended or even worse, a spinout or flip. The wings provide stability so perhaps a delta wing design would give you better results in the turn while maintaining stability.

I like it, and the Van Guard V-twin engine sounds awesome, too! I'd want a bigger gas tank though, if it was mine, and a visible gas gague, because i wouldn't want to run out of gas out on a huge lake. The way my luck goes, there wouldn't be anyone around out there to tow me back home, or to help me get some more gas.

A sharp turn left or right, or an unexpected wave can make the present wing design to dig into the water causing a crash. Overall l think it is awesome that he made this mini boat, congratulations. This is very close to the boat my dad built for me to run-n-play on the bayou back when I was 8 (five decades ago) it was 1/4" plywood, not styrofoam and didn't have the "wings" on the sides but other than that so much mechanical similarities too. Used it for a couple years til a drunk cousin took it for a ride and wrecked it. Used to take my .22 rifle and go hunt nutria after school with it.

Nice! Those wings were more show than go, but other than that, very good! Especially loving the flaming stick welds directly on the foam. Some improvement suggestions: Start with two wide foam sheet, and expand the front veneer wing form all the way to the back. Then cut very shallow convex V and use only one rail/keel, or just a fin blade as in surf board. The hull needs only 20 cm per side more width to get full boyancy.
