I Made My Own Animal Crossing Switch for Just $35
Ғылым және технология
The last upload of 2020! Love you guys!
With the Animal crossing switch being scalped 9 months after its release for way more than $299, I found a way for you to make your own custom switch for just $35! In this video I show you how to make your own #animalcrossing switch special edition, using an Animal Crossing Joycon Shell swap, a switch backplate replacement, and a complete switch dock shell replacement. This is my second custom joycon project and my biggest project on this channel ever! We go over hot to shell swap your animal crossing switch dock, how to make your own animal crossing shells, and animal crossing backplate! The dock even has all the little tom nook characters too!
This is one of the best Nintendo switch mods I've done so far! best part is, there's no longer any need to figure out how to get an animal crossing switch when you can make your own! Hope you guys enjoy! It's been a great year uploading and creating content for you guys 🥰

From experience, I feel like undoing all the ribbons for the Joycons is much better than leaving them in because its less messy and you’re less likely to break anything. Also if you’re doing this for your personal switch I don’t think you need to go fast, it only saves a considerable amount of time if you work in a repair environment and you do a lot of shell swaps (which isn’t even that common anyway)
The programming to make the colors appear correct on the switch was just wow for me. Now I’m considering if I should do the same for my switch 🤔

Don't feel too bad. Modding the switch also means losing the warranty. Which would mean that if you messed it up, and Nintendo could be able to tell you had been opening the switch or joycons up, they would refuse to help you. This is super cool, but only something one should do if they know how to do it right. I have seen so many people write about having broken their joycons etc. by modding them. I'm not against modding AT ALL
@kristalexandra3
3 жыл бұрын
How much did you sell yours for? I sold my V1 for $250 so only “loss” $50. Totally worth it IMO because I didn’t have to look for adequate parts or worry about voiding my warranty. I’ve already taken full advantage of it once because of the joycon drift issue.
Really helpful guide! managed to switch mine into an animal crossing shell thanks to you! 😄 tho as a beginner I had no idea how to properly remove ribbon cables, not sure how to yank it out, so I ended up using the method where the all the ribbon cables are attached
Gave you a sub lately i've been in this weird modify/repair stage on some of my consoles (PSP/VITA/Switch) and now i know my next project.

Im amazed at how simple the Switch is and I agree even as someone who plans, but has never swapped shells or backs on the switch. Id definitely just take the time to remove the what. Four of rive ribbon cables that are there? At least I'd definitely disconnect the ribbon cables to the rail and make the process of swapping a balance of quick and easy. Id love to see someday how that method would work cause I do wanna swap my shells and back myself for my birthday

Ima defiantly use this to make the zelda console! Or a pokemon themed one. I saw the links you put have different versions. Thanks man
I recently picked up an animal crossing switch from Wal-Mart even after seeing this guide. I decided to sell my old Nintendo switch to my sister who wanted a switch for about 150 half the price of the original switch. My sister wanted an animal crossing switch as well, but couldn't afford 300 so this guide was very helpful for her! Since it was an older switch she did buy the shell definitely made the console feel like new, and the replacement of the joycon shells gave them that feel of being new without that feeling of the paint being worn down from sweat. Over all she basically got an animal crossing switch for only 185, 150 being from me selling her the switch and the 35 being from the shells so overall this saved her money! Thank you for this guide!

Both versions have the same retail price, so they aren’t gaining anything from you buying from the price scalpers vs buying a different version and customizing it. It's like changing the shells on the Nintendo DS and 3DS. Pretty nice there
Ill be doing this when my set arrives. Only costed me less than $20 for the joycons and the backshell. Can’t wait 😅
Even as someone who works on iPhones and other small devices rather regularly, I will always take apart the switch joycons fully as it is WAYYYYY too risky to do the method everyone was saying. It's just crazy to think a beginner could do that first time.

Honestly I had no problems myself doing that because I knew I’d have more trouble getting the ribbon cables plugged back in and risking damaging them than just carefully maneuvering them around as I took it apart

I left the cables attached for my first customization. All except the joystick cable… it makes it a lot easier. IMO, it’s more risky for a beginner to disconnect and reconnect a ribbon cable than it is to just leave them alone. I had never done any kind of electronics work or modification, and I knew I’d have trouble plugging the cables back in. If you’re extremely delicate and pay attention, it shouldn’t cause any issues to leave them plugged in.
That’s so cool that you can rig your own AC Switch. I already got my Fiancée one during the restock, but it was enjoyable seeing the process. You even showed how to change the color of the controller in the software which was a nice touch.
last year for christmas my mom got me a regular, red and blue nintendo switch. Well my brother bought himself a switch but he could only get his hands on the animal crossing one. We decided to swap our parts like the controllers, the charging dock, and the little things you can attatch to the controllers. We didn't change our screen parts cuz we had already set up our switches so I technically don't have a complete animal crossing switch, but I still say I have it cuz really what difference does it make lol
i got a tip inset the card and then dont push it all the way in use the lid to push it in that way when you open the flap the card automatically ejects and i didnt want to use proper grammer cuz im lazy

I really wanted the controllers myself, the light green and blue just hit right, and at launch, it was not worth to buy a pair for $100+. Did manage to find someone sell them for $50 a year later and and happy with them now. Don't really care about the plate or dock but if I really wanted them, glad to see how easy and cheap it is.

ive customized 5 joycon pairs, 1 black with matcha green buttons, white with gold buttons, splatoon 3 ones, light blue with white buttons (and soon the inverse), red and blue with the red one having matching blue buttons and the blue ones having matching red ones, these being the original neon red and blue from nintendo. I really want to continue doing it but i cant afford to continue buying joycons (even though i usually buy them used and broken on ebay) because i dont currently have a job and i probably wont be able to get one for a while. I would honestly love to sell them but i cant make them before already having a buyer because if i just lose that money ill run out

I live in Brazil and we barely have any switch consoles so imagine an animal crossing one, this video made me really happy, thank you.
random question since you clearly know more about the switch/joycons than me: are the triggers supposed to make different noises? my right trigger makes a much louder, higher pitched noise than my left trigger, which is nearly silent and makes a deep noise. I’d like to know if there’s any problem with my joycons cuz I’m currently broke asf and need to know if I should preserve them a bit
yeaaa the colors are A BIT off but unless youre do a side by side comparison i dont think you could tell the difference. Loved the vid though! DIY stuff is prolly one of my fav youtube content.
