This is so educational even if viewers will never make a sweater like this. Most people who have never made something don't know the true cost in labor. When you try to make something like this and see how long it takes you, it really helps you understand why these type of items cost so much. Fun fact: ALL crocheted items are made by hand. There are no crochet machines, it just doesn't exist. There are knitting machines and most knits we buy are made on machines, but crochet is different. It has to be done with human hands, one garment at a time. So if you buy some new "fast fashion" crocheted item for a cheap price, you know that an actual human slaved over that for many many hours and got paid peanuts for that labor.

When I started crocheting I spent 2 weeks doing it for 8h a day. Please take breaks and stretch your wrists/arms/fingers. I litterally have to rest for weeks before I can do anything now because I went too hard at the beginning. Learn from my mistake.

When I first learned to crochet 3 years ago I immediately fell in love with it. But I was really bummed because I have trouble with my hands and it hurt my hands and wrist. I thought I would have to give it up. Then I saw a recommendation for Furls hooks. I bought one and what a world of difference it made. If I use these hooks I can crochet for a long time without any pain. I am not a spokesperson for Furls. I recommend them highly for anyone who has problems with their hands.

I would recommend that you find the start of the yarn from the inside of the ball, so that the yarn doesn't tumble around

Girl... you nailed it! As a veteran of crochet I am shocked at how you persevered! You can pretty much crochet anything now. The crochet world is yours. But what is really awesome is that you are introducing an incredible craft to so many new people. wow....you just blew me away!! Amazing job! It's making me miss crocheting but I could only ever do beret type beanies. My squares never did get straight so I decided crocheting in a circle would be way easier. You should try a hat next! But then again, that will be cake for you!

So impressive making sweater vests as a beginner crocheter. When I started I made granny squares and granny stripes. I made hats and scarfs first. So well done you. You should be proud. I'm working on a waistcoat, it's taking forever, hours and hours, I can't spend 8 hours crocheting, need breaks.

I also was like seven and crochet was not that fashionable like the way it is now! There are such cute patterns out there now! I love crochet. I’ve been crocheting over 50 years. A ribbed waistband like that will take a half hour to an hour once your experienced. Keep your chin up Jenna! Your determined! That’s half the battle. I didn’t start on garments until about 3 years ago!!

You could make a timelapse of you crocheting and I would be so happy. This video gave me so much joy
