Check out Tessenjutsu, it's a fan fighting style that was actually used in Japan

Beautiful, the fans are actually easy to use the way you can get them not to close up is to swing down at an angle. But they are absolutely beautiful

Very good! My advice would to make a version where the metal is welded together, and the edges and ends more sharp. That way it doesn’t close up or hit your fingers. (Sadly though, the fans would stay open, But its a better alternative!)

It's probably for the best you don't cut with them. No hand protection in the form of a guard to keep fingers from slipping had the sides been made sharp. Gotta keep them hands intact so you bring more things from page and screen to reality.

From my knowledge, fans were actually effective weapons in Japan. It's called Tessenjutsu and it instead of cutting, it focused on parrying, disarming the opponent, and grappling them. I'm no expert by any means, but I just thought I would share this unique style of combat since we didn't get a showcase this video.
