Katana Making - Shinobu Katana Demon Slayer
Ойын-сауық
Hey guys, in this video I make Shinobu's Katana from Demon Slayer. Definitely one of the most unique swords from the whole series. 5160 high carbon steel, brass fittings, and a poplar wood handle.

Shinobu has a pretty flimsy musculature, and this sword exemplifies that very well. It is so light and has such a small cutting blade that it is unable to cut through things as well as regular swords. But in the show, it is coated with a poisonous material deadly to demons.

It is normal for the katana to barely cut because the goal of shinobu in combat is to violently disorient her opponent with her speed and to inject him with her poison by surprise. The blade does not really need to be sharp since a simple thrust is enough.
the rest of the blade is amazing, but the thing that always impresses me the most is watching someone do the handle wrap
@JumboRadish

Doing the handle wrap is my favorite part!
It turned out beautiful!! Making Shinobu's katana must have cost a lot to make, but with hard work he managed to make it. It has my respect.
@JumboRadish

It didn't cost too much! The steel blank cost about $20. Although the equipment needed might cost extra
Must admit, to see that finished sword in real, shows how beautiful it actually is. Well done, great craftsmanship.

Shinibu puts the phrase fly like a butterfly sting like a bee to a reality also good job on the blade
Ara~Ara my sword your making it look cool and you did a good job on making my sword
Friends: So! What did you do lastnight Jumbo: I made a sword
Gotta love the dramatic music in the back 😍
if anyone deserves to go to the swordsmith village its you, your skills are so impressive
I’m more impressed of how you can draw a straight line
With the focus on a pointed tip, I'd imagine the style best suited for the type of sword would be french or classical fencing with a preference to pokes and slight slash/poke combinations to make use of it's pointed cutting edge. The whole point of Shinobu's style of cutting was just enough to get the poison into the body sort of speak so perhaps some testing with applying dyes to see it's feasibility instead of the clean cuts that most people use katanas for. Curious if the system can be approved by just extending the length of the blade.
Wow, this Shinobu katana is so beautiful and cool

This is really really good! At the end, you can see how beautiful the sword is. Beautiful work!
Her sword is quite unique i love it
I love that you made it like an actual katana (not forged wise) but the bamboo (I'm assuming) to keep the blade and handle together and the wrap and how everything fits together so easily and can be taken apart easily to clean. So satisfying. I don't know everything about katanas but seeing stuff like this makes me want to dive into this field

Let me just say, that is a beautiful tang sir. I personally don't think grinding/sharpening of the tang is very good. But most "Samurai" or "Ninja" or "Traditional Japanese" swords on the market have too short/narrow of tangs. That one is a respectful length and width. It's very good compared to finished ones that you can buy for cheap.
