I had a blast playing!! I was a bit worried 'cause I'm new-ish to cosplay, but we ended up winning - which is still so crazy to me! Huge thanks to Sarah and to my teammates

I don’t cosplay, but I watch a ton of KZread videos and knew quite a few of these

the laughs remind me of those parents laughing in my school auditorium

So cool seeing the Pikachu coslaywr being honored!! She's officially part of the history and lore of the con!😄

I soooo expected to do awful at this since I feel like such a noob cosplayer but I actually knew the answers to a lot of these questions!! I'm very proud of myself :D (most 500's did stump me though lol)

For someone who has yet to finish an entire cosplay, I did surprisingly well on the cosplay history section!

If you really wanna get started, I highly recommend you start out with closet cosplays! The most accessible type of cosplay and free if you're creative enough with your wardrobe! Once you get the hang of that, just grab whatever hobby seems most interesting to you and just plug it back into cosplay cause tbh all cosplay really is, is a frankenhobby made out of other hobbies. Also just a PSA, a lot of newbies assume that to be a "proper" cosplayer, you need to be a master craftsman that's an ace in all of the hobbies relating to cosplay (sewing, wig styling, makeup, propmaking, etc) But that assumption is actually completely false! There are plenty of cosplayers out there that buy cosplays and props or pay other people to style their wigs or do their makeup. That's why the market exists after all! As long as you're not hurting anyone, just do whatever you want. It's a hobby after all, it's all just for fun! TLDR: Closet cosplay is the best first step for cosplay newbies and you don't need to be an expert in making stuff to be considered a cosplayer. Just have fun!

I mean... technically... the satin stitch IS just a very... very short zig zag. Many-a-time have I replicated a satin stitch on a vintage machine just by putting the stitch length dial/bar the tiniest hair to the "forward" side.

This was such a cool idea! Looked like so much fun and I had fun watching and answering as well!

I've been watching this channel for over two years, but I've only now finally gotten into cosplay, and all of this has gained a new dimension for me. Super fun to watch!!

I was playing while watching the video and got so excited when I got a question right! I think I got like in total 5 answers correct, and almost jumped up when I heard the word "crochet". As someone who crochets their cosplays, it feels amazing to hear a little mention of crochet:)

So glad I was at this panel, such a great vibe!

I wish I could have made it in time for the panels, but i'm glad to see so many people enjoy themselves and have fun!

That'S such a fun activity!!! the only question I thought was misleading is the thibra one. Thibra was only created in 2018. I started cosplaying in 2002-3 and we were already using eva foam and wonderflex by 2006. So I would have said wonderflex 100%.

There's a blog post from Kamui from 2018 talking about Worbla vs cosplayflex vs thibra, so it's definitely been around before 2018, but I can't seem to find a year for it But it was one of the first thermoplastics that got popular for cosplay

@@primrosechan eva foam has been around forever, but I'm just taking about the thermoplastics in the question 🤷‍♀️ There are a couple dated blogs and websites saying 2016, but the Thibra registration mark on the website says 2018, but maybe they just weren't registered before that or maybe they sold to a bigger company then

I haven't even DONE stockinette stitch yet (brand new knitter here) but I knew it was purl. XDD

I learned so much. A lot of times I know how to describe things I want but I don't know what is the name used for it. Also very helpful if English is not your first language and you don't know thing are named abroad.

only criticism is that the first cosplayer were sci fi nerds (yes) but way older sci fi nerds than just star trek. people would do cosplays of based off old book and movie characters and the earliest in this sense of dressing up were based off pulp artwork and film at old science fiction conventions far back as the 40s. just the term wasnt really coined until like the 80s so it was initially called futuristicostumes (something i didnt learn when i reached into the subject 10 years ago and man. gotta love old timey naming so corny and kitsch but its so them in that era. that is so mid century)

I'd love to do something like this at a con! I'm pretty new so I wouldn't win but it would be fun
