Have you ever looked at a men's button up shirt and thought, "Gee wouldn't this make a great DRESS?" Well I did and so I decided to make this week's sewing vlog all about this process. I truned 4 identical button up shirts into what I am calling a "shirt-waste" dress. So come along with me and watch me upcycle shirts into a dress.

@LaLayla99 Maybe it would help to turn off the function for in-app purchases? It’s probably an option in your device settings for the game. I understand bc I play too, it’s super fun and always seems more fun to pay to get ahead, but I’m telling myself it’s a good challenge to only use the free parts. Good luck! It’s kind of fun to see how far I can get on my own that way.

Hey this is unrelated but I'm a pharmacist and you should discuss newer nonsedating antihistamines for allergic reactions. For a long time we thought that Benadryl would act faster to immediately stop allergic reactions, however newer research is now saying this is untrue! the second generation antihistamines (Claritin, Reactine, etc) act as fast as Benadryl for non anaphylactic allergic reactions, and cause way less sedation. The obligatory: You should of course always discuss this with your actual pharmacist, based on your actual meds and medical history, but it's something not a lot of people know about, and you could save yourself a lot of unnecessary grogginess. Worth a chat.

This is great info! I'm curious; are you hearing discourse yet in your sector about quercetin? I picked it up from the veterinary scene a few years back, and it seems to be having a glowup moment in covid-related research, but it's also still oddly obscure at the same time, at least as far as I've seen in human med. I'd be fascinated to hear what if any murmurs or narratives may be bubbling up amongst you underrated pharm wizards

I have a high powered magnet on a telescoping wand that lives within reach of both my sewing machine and my cutting/pinning space. It's from a hardware store and can lift like 5lbs or some nonsense. Absolutely overkill but also priceless. I drop a pin, grab it and get it before I forget about it. It also lets me pick up any other random metal item I drop. Marking pens, seam rippers, thimble, shears, bobbins, pattern weights (aka large metal washers), even entire embroidery hoops (get them by the little screw). I've slowly collected more tools with metal components just because I can pick them up without bending over. This is in part because I have no sensation in my feet and have previously been hospitalized twice for severe infections after walking around for months without being aware there were multiple pins embedded in my feet. My first magic magnet wand was actually a gift from an er nurse tired of seeing me. Less of an issue now that I spend most days in my wheelchair but wheelchair tires like pins even less than feet so still a critically important habit to maintain.

She had found a machine needle rammed into the space where your knee bends, so right between the cap and leg bone. It was pointy side out. Went to the ER and on X-ray one of the nurses actually knew it was a singer needle! Mom had given that one away 6 years earlier!! My teen self has a lot of fun with Mom high on Vicodin that night! I did something similar where I turned a couple of old pairs of jeans into a skirt. Having...substantial...thighs, I tend to wear out the inner seams quicker than any other part of the pant. So I cut the legs off of the top part of the jeans (keeping the pockets, zipper, etc.) and then having cut down past the worn crotch parts of each pant leg, created a gored skirt from the pant legs by sewing them back onto the upper part of the pants. Presto! Skirt, formerly pants! It's one of my favorite skirts now. I love upcycling projects! Your dress turned out super cute also!

I have a hilarious story about pins on the floor while sewing. My husband would complain and complain. I kept telling him i'd picked them up but he kept finding them and was frustrated . This kept going on back and forth until one day we were sitting in the living room. And all of a sudden my cat lept up onto the ironing board where my project lay pinned and waiting for the next day's sewing. And what did she do? She started pulling the pins out one by one and dropping them on the floor! She thought it was a great game! And thus i was horrified at the thought of her swollowing one and vindicated all at once. We just looked at one another, mouths gaping in surprise. My husband now believes me when i say, it wasn't me 😂😂😂

Cute dress pattern. Sometimes, classic patterns are just the very idea of flattering dressing. Oh, the "shirt tail" hemming for the scallop edge is perfect. Saves a lot of time from sewing a straight hem. Oh, BTW, use a magnet to retrieve any dropped pins from the floor.

Great chaos build!! I find the more allergic I am, the less groggy I get with Benadryl. Sometimes I'll take half of one to figure out if a face explosion is allergy or starting a cold, if it stops and I'm fine, allergies, if I get kinda groggy, it wasn't allergies.... And my bunny wears the same expression when I'm sewing. If I ignore him long enough he starts chewing things he shouldn't, like my pantleg. That turned out really cute, I especially liked the hemline using the curves from the bottom of the shirts!!

You are so talented. I love the way you utilized the shirt tails at the hemline for that scalloped effect. And I love watching you sew even tho' I have no idea what under stitching is lol. I do miss the shows where you display your patterns one-by-one. Surprises are always fun. June's Journey is one of my favorite games - been playing since 2018.

You can make a circle skirt out of a round tablecloth. I had a second hand beaded gold sweater that I added a round gold table cloth skirt to. Warm and dressy for Christmas day. I actually live in Canada, so it worked great.
