Honestly the game jam game not turning out well wasn’t your fault at all. 48 hour jams have always felt like a way to normalize crunch in a “fun” way and it’s the main reason I only join the ones that span a couple of days. I’m excited to try the game out! Mario Party DS was one if my favorite DS games growing up.

That's an excellent point.

I love 48 hour game jams because I usually don't have to schedule time off of work to participate and it teaches you planning and workflow skills

I'd love to do a 48 hour game jam but I work 12 hour days on the weekends :'0 so the longer jams it is
I like that you didn't compromise spider nature by decreasing number of eyes to make it more sympathetic and instead stylized actual eyes to achieve same effect
9:00 People say you shouldn't make the game you want but make a smaller simpler version of it. What you did was make the absolute bare minimum, then when the game was done, you made it a little better, then a little longer, then again and again and again; eventually leading to what you originally wanted to make. Making the game you want is overwhelming but sometimes even a smaller version can be just as overwhelming; making the game at a bare minimum and then improving it is such a better way to look at projects and is something i wish i did when i started my project. I knew i couldnt make this open world game with a dozen biomes and creatures, so i settled on a small island with a couple biomes and animals in each. Looking back i should of made a single area with one biome and one animal, then slowly expand that. Instead i became overwhelmed and now rarely work on it, what you did during the gamejam week is what i do all the time; speaking of, i need to get back to work... eh maybe after a few more youtube videos.
Remember, making games its not about "how good of a game you can make" But about how much you learn when making them

yeah, too much of a stretch, it really doesn't make much sense.

@@wertyxq3468 ok look at it this way: "Don't just rush to learn how to code to make you dreams game, cause most of the times it's not gonna work. Instead make games and experiment to learn how to code"

But if you make a better game you can learn more

@@loogi_is_die in a way, that could be true, but it's also very short-sighted. The goal isn't to make the best game of all time, but rather to make something, learn from it, and have the next thing you make be even better. The ultimate intention is growth! :D
I played your game, you were the first dev i looked up

My game was platform puppeteer if you happened to stumble upon it
I'm so impressed by this! You've definitely taken a leap in your game development abilities. Not only is it a typical LazyAlarm video (bug-themed characters, running out of time during development, aiming to replicate something then going off the rails with creative ideas), it's your best one yet! Super excited to see what comes next. :)
The whole "getting hunted through a living room"-theme gives me flashbacks to the Tom and Jerry Tales game on the DS. The game is very similar to how this turned out and it's awesome tbh.
“But was it worth doing myself? No!” Subbed Hobbyist here, love the story
Love spiders, love games about spiders. This is a gem right here :)

A masterpiece of a video - as always
the "angry birds, but you build the houses" idea actually seems like a cool concept.
I love how you put “in Godot” in the title
Have you looked in the doc about adding _col at the end of the model and when it is imported it should add collision it may be the file name - I think you can also chnage the type of node it used in the import tab.
Nice, love getting a new video after deciding to subscribe a few days ago and finished watching most of your videos. Nice work!
I really do think, if you carry this game on, it could be an amazing Online racing game.
At first I thought this game was kill it with fire Because the art style is amazing!
The fist few seconds I saw this game, I was gonna mention Mario Party DS' Dust Buddies but then you brought it up anyway. I am still learning to develop in Godot as well, so this is super inspiring!
Ah, yes. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs reference. Love it.
relatable asf, great video!
the tux paint Buh duh beehh was literally SO NOSTALIGIC AAAA
There's a spider living in a web in my room rn(Possible Arachnarun reference???)
As long as you learned something, then absolutely worth it.
Actually an amazing idea and taking inspiration of the Mario party game is funny as! Good work
Ayyyyyyy hes BACKKK BABY!!!!! I’m still grinding for sub 57 in TTT btw YEAHHH
I'm mostly just so proud of you for making the spider anatomically correct ❤
6:44 * nostalgia hits *
Great video, the game looks really fun, I'm gonna give it a try
Tux Paint brings back so many memories
This one is really good. I love the graphics. Although I could use a bit more speed on that spider. I only got past the blocks one time in 30 runs, and promptly got trapped in a bag of chips.
Cool game. Love it
you made a proper game and that's what we really want.
Very nice. I did something similar this year, I did an auto-scrolling 2D game where you play a swordfish fighting off divers, fishermen, and ocean garbage.
Great video, I hope the fulltime youtube thing is going well. I take a lot of inspiration from channels like yours :)
Im not sure if you know this, but you can make a collision shape for a mesh wayy quicker then by blocking it out by clicking the mesh button on the upper bar and clicking create trimesh collision shape. Its really useful
wow, what a rollercoaster! great job keeping working on the game, it's certainly easy to give up when it gets hard
i love it, this such a cool idea and a good execution!
You cant go wrong without the bouncing dvd video 😆
i literally said “like dust buddies from mario party” before clicking on this. dust buddies was my favorite mini game
You're back!! 🎉
You make some great stuff, very cool
Dust buddies is actually my favorite mario party mini game
You should have at least 100k subs. This is a really high-quality vid!
THE DVD TOUCHED THE CORNER!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!
Cell machine: You better get a community… this game bettter have an alive community like us… pls, we need an opponent
A 2ND PERSON GAME?!?!? thats sick as hell dude!
So cool! I'd say it was worth it 🙏
This kind of reminds me of the opposite of kill it with fire
Well done hero!
This godot engine is something else Making games is sooo easy with this 👌👌🔥🔥
this is truly a piece of art
When you explained the premise of the game the first thing I thought of was dust buddies, love to see the Mario party ds rep that game was my childhood
Worth it.
Oh, you bet I'm gonna play this! Games like that are my jam!
neat well done
this is basically just a pc version of subway surfer game
Finally its Lazy Alarm’s return
I never knew a game where you play as spider will be good
we need part 2 for the modding series, idk but that was really simple but i've watched it like 3 times lol!
I think this game would be perfect for mobile. You should put it there!
this is a very creative idea
Take youre Time a Masterpiece cant be rushd
taking the time you need and having it be more time than you intended is no shame. We all work at a different pace and some people work slower. So long as you get the smallest steps done, you're making progress. And you might not be lazy, I know from experience that this sounds a lot like adhd. But also look up quality of life improvements to your workflow like auto importing blender to godot and clicking the Mesh button in the top middle to add simplified collision

I always love customisability in games. Being able to choose different color combinations ie species for the spider and maybe including risk-reward with slightly risky escape routes to pick up hats and other cosmetics would be lovely.
Finally someone makes a game about spiders
it looks like a GameCube/DS game, i like it!
Wow very well done Now that you finally finished the game you can sleep for a week well done
6:16 Table chair toilet sink FORTNITE spoon eggs
“And more bugs of course” What do you mean? I only see one… XD
How did I miss this upload 😭😭
OMG I wanted to make a game with playable spiders tooooo! :D
As a spider, I can confirm this is how we act.
TOTALY WORTH IT
Now imagine an MMO where all the players are spiders making webs. :3c
Lazy alarm I love your videos and your games, Greetings from Argentina
That Mario mini game threw me back in time
You finished the game, so it was worth it. I guarantee you that.
I think it was worth it... even if I have not played this game before.
When i saw this game it felt like the spiders soul was coming inside me
> Was it worth doing it myself? No! But I still learned a lot. Then it was worth doing! Learning is so, so valuable. You can't download knowledge off the asset store.
Yeah!! He has returned!!!
so this is what antman feels like
When i saw the title i was like, well that's not really a crazy idea, then i saw your nickname and i was like OK thats funny.
6:27 😂😂
I fucking love that name
Hell yeah
finally a good spider game
Omg I remember tux paint, it was the best
Thank you for using godot
you have the same PC case as me, nice
I’m imagining a sequel where it’s exactly the same but while the vacuum and spider stay the same size on screen, the background and objects increase in size and scale, where you go from food crumbs to books to cars to houses to cities to countries to planets to the entire universe and you beat the Vacuum God in a fight and it explodes. You know what I mean?
Lol who would put a hoover on their table XD 2:20
I always do this for my projects, I think of something totally awesome and work for a ridiculous amount of time trying to get there.. just to realize that I aimed way too high and now I'm bored, NEXT PROJECT!!
So no one is gonna talk about how fun this game is? Seriously guys, download it!
This video is super valueable, your take on the how to manage your mental state when making games is really useful to me, thank you
Ok yeah, I like this
It's not bad it's really really good
The tiny enemy spider
Reversed roles of kill it with fire
Yay, I like spiders! Is it on app-store?
put a princess spider at the end
