    The discoloration /bleeding of the color works in this particular scenario if you ask me. Like Babs have been in that chamber so long the skin is slowly started to decompose because of the old, faulty tech not able to work any more and keep her stabilised. Oh and that corner with the resin mark? Can't you fix it with some UV resin carefully poured into that crevice? Sorry for any mistakes, not my first language, love your videos!

    Kick ass as always!! Now, I have been thinking. Instead of resin for projects like this, how about using a transparent container and actual liquid inside? Not water, that is too runny and too leaky, but perhaps something thicker like a thicker mineral/parafin oil, or even thicker like clear corn syrup, so it is easier to make it leak proof. I suggest those two because they are cheap and easy to get, they don't really go bad (though you can always replace if shit happens), and their index of refraction is similar to that of fishing lines and acrylic iirc, so there is a good chance that whichever you use to support the model inside the liquid would become effectively invisible.

  • @MisterGames

    @MisterGames

    Ай бұрын

    Then he needs to deal with dehydration as the container would need to be airtight. Glycerine might work as a liquid, but that might just create too many other issues to overcome.

    @@MisterGames What other issues are uou think of, besides needing to either seal it or make it refillable, which are both not much of a challenge?

  • @MisterGames

    @MisterGames

    Ай бұрын

    @@louisvictor3473 while making air tight and or needing to refill it are not deal breakers by themselves, they add extra maintenance to the thing. Sure, doing this for one or two is no biggie. But if you have to refill 15 or 20 of them, it begins to be an ongoing chore for what was a done and dusted project. Also, as photoowl time-lapse channel shows, sugar liquids always get mold on them.

  • @louisvictor3473

    @louisvictor3473

    Ай бұрын

    @@MisterGames You're talking as if you have to refill it frequently, which you wouldn't, it is the backup plan. How often does a lava lamp needs refilling? How long until a sealed bottle of corn syrup or glycerene or alcohol gel, or mineral oil, etc visibly go down in level? Even a terrarium doesn't require its water refilled, and that is literally just plain water. That is why you seal it, so the slightly raised pressure created by any evaporation prevents furter evaporation, as well as ensuring the liquid stays in so that when it cools down and condescenses it just joins back up. You also seem to be thinking of sugary liquids that are mostly water rather than the other way around, and kept in an improperly sealed container that allows too much fresh oxygen in. Molds are obligated aerobes, so a completely filled and sealed container would suffocate it, as well the absurdly high concentration of sugar that is too much for them to survive in. And of course, you could use a non sugary liquid like mineral oils, clear neutral liquid dish soap, etc.

    That last shot of your beautiful deathclaw floating with all the lights out, and only the brightest parts of its paint job visible, made me think of something that could be pretty sick. You could make a project similar to this one, but give the monster markings using fluorescent paint rather than normal paint. Then, you could light the chamber using a blacklight (or a blacklight under some kind of grating/panel with holes in it to only let some of the blacklight shine through.) In normal conditions, you would just see this eerie, dark sea monster/lab experiment floating in the water...but when you turn on the blacklights at the bottom (and/or top) of the tank, the creature suddenly lights up with exotic neon markings. There are some fish that look like neon in real life, so just imagine what a monster with neon patterning could look like! Hats off to you! This video is very inspiring!

    I like the crack in the resin cast, adds to the fact that babs could emerge at any second out of this ancient test facility. Definitely plays into the wear and tear very well.

    Question: If you pour the resin halfway up, let it set, then pour the rest of the resin, will it create a visible seem? I ask because if it doesn't create a seem, then you could do that, cut away the wire supports, and the bottom dried resin would hold the model up while the top resin cures. Then there would be no wires in the final model.

    It could work yes but any inpuritues like dust particles even hair could cause it to have a seem

    From what i've seen from other creators, its does create a little bit of a seam and might result in the resin having bubbles or other imperfections.

    Could you please learn that you don't need to pour all the resin at once? You can half fill the mold with the model supported and then remove the supports when the bottom is cured.

    You know Adam, I just really wanted to thank you. You may not realize this, all of it is obviously you just cracking jokes, but the way you criticize yourself and your lack of planning, incompetence, doing stuff just however you feel like doing, not how it should be etc is really helping with my weird perfectionism that's causing me a lot of anxiety while doing art and basically makes me hate doing what I am doing. Seeing how you just... do stuff without much care and getting these absolutely incredible results is seriously helping me relax and just go with the flow, your content is actually making me a better artist despite the medium we're both using being completely different. You're kinda like... Bob Ross of sculpting on crack. So yeah, thank you!

    i agree with the other comments, the leaching actually became a happy accident yielding an unintended satisfying effect. you may want to consider using strong wires made to look like those monitoring cords into the creature for when you make another floating creation instead of the nylon.
