I'm not gonna lie, as a guy-sewist sometimes I get jealous of the variety of things gal-sewists get to make. You can only put so much design into a shirt and trousers.

@@StephanieCanada exactly my thoughts
I love the fact you you show us what we may run in to with sewing. And how you work with it. I learn lots from you! And it looks wonderful!
Dad get well soon, what a brave woman VG 🐺🐩. Birdy
And who doesn't love spooky music when sewing a dress with spooky fabric!!!!! Another super fun video. Rock on Stephanie!
Omg I laughed so hard with you on the pockets 😂😂😂😂
STEPHANIE!!! I implore you! please get yourself a Bootstrap mannequin! You are so young and you would get a whole LIFETIME of use out of your very own dress mannequin, in your own personal measurements. You've shown yourself competent and able to sew almost any sort of dress pattern so you certainly WILL be able to sew your own Dummy! I'm in my 70's now and I only got my mannequin when I was 60!!! If ONLY Bootstrap had been around 50 years ago! I would have made my mannequin in a HEARTBEAT!!
Sending ur dad healing energy ❤
The dress turned out great! Love the contrasting blue! The fit is good so your bodice adjustments worked. I love that you include your mistakes!!! I’ve done the same things over the years and it’s nice to know I’m not alone. I wish there had been this kind of community back when I was doing lots of sewing. (1965-early 2000s)I was alone in my hobby. No one in my family or any of my friends sewed. They all thought it was great I did it, but I had no one to ask for help or just chat with about my passion. I learned everything in school or on my own. It so nice to see young people taking up the hobby.

@cherylhuot4436 That must have been difficult. The KZread Sewing Community keeps me inspired to keep sewing, and their tutorials helps me so very much. We are very blessed.
I laughed at the backwards pocket, mostly because I 've done that sew many times. Keep inspiring.

I hope Dad is feeling better! And yes that is literally the best ride anywhere. It came out nice. I like the blue with it. CHAOS!

Enormously fun video!
Wow that was a complicated pattern well done! Also hideaways be kind to yourself xx
Many years ago when I was a child, my mother taught me to always fold the fabric, right sides together, when I cut it out. That way, all the pieces that needed to be sewn together at centers were already positioned correctly. We always washed fabric before cutting. In high school my sister put two piece sleeves into a jacket, backwards. Then my mother made me fix the mistake and finish the jacket because she was "upset". She got an "A" for the jacket and "C" for the skirt ! Yah, I have sibling issues.
Happy Birthday Stephanie. My 70th birthday was yesterday Friday the 13th. Love the dress, love your videos. Fun time on this one
As a long time member of the backwards pocket club I absolutely love this dress! I always underestimate the mental load involved in making 3D conforming shapes out of fabric. The mental fatigue and concentration difficulties from this are real. The "mistakes" made when tired, stressed, pressed for time are completely understandable.
despite the troubles you had, it still turned out fantastic! Bravo!

Those sleeve cuffs are awesome! They are the perfect color.
Fits very well, proper useful pockets, swirling in style. Amazingly good!!
Loved how after you showed the backwards pocket and than showed the zipper…with the characters by it….one looked like she was laughing at you and the other…he was looking on in horror because of the backwards pocket….too funny!!
Prayers, love, positive vibes and happy thoughts to you and your dad. Great finished piece BTW.
Ngl I absolutely panicked when you folded the skirt fabric upsidedown 😅 So glad it all worked out in the end!
If you're ever running out of fabric, just remember you can add contrasting panels! That's probably why the contrasting back panels for some skirts exist in the first place lol. The dress skirt would have looked just as cute with a teal back panel to match the sleeves or maybe 2 side panels or maybe a front panel. It turned out really cute either way!
As always, relatable sewing misadventures
Oh so you intentionaly sewed a budpocked in, as you would have in trousers. How clever, love the idea😊
Love it great use of fabric. Yes we all to give ourselves grace ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved the dress, I'm always happy that you give us real life and not just the perfect finish.
Beautiful episode! Very lovely outfitted dress! Thank you!😊❤
You are very human and you set your priorities properly when your dad was having a medical crisis. Also, cute dress.!
Brilliant dress, even the spooky pocket that will get you all turned around is great 👻
It’s the best ride!
In-park reveal was so worth it! I used to work in the Magic Kingdom. Oh how I miss it.
Spooky scorpios unite!! Love the contrast on this!
It's so fun watching your vlogs!
So cute and a great fit!
Chefs kiss to this video! Love the project choice, you’re being real through the timeline, and of course the in-park reveal since I’m a total parks fan! ❤
Love your sewing videos. You're adorable!
Your videos are just a joy to watch. The editing in this one is superb!
The music transforms the vibe 😂 i love it
If it makes you feel any better, I just accepted my first ever job seamstressing for pay. Three blouses, fairly simple pattern. My client, a local boutique, bought the fabric and all the supplies. I ripped a huge hole in the front of the very first one. No way to mend it and keep the blouse as is. So. You're not the only one facing chaos, lol.
very cute dress and darling fabric. Well done!
I luv ur spirit muuuuaaaas I luv that u put pockets on everything too. I even make / add them for sweaters .’

Well that was really cute!
That pattern is to die for. Love your dress and the fabric 😍😍😍
✨
I love it! Please be as kind to your self as you would be to another sewist.
i love the left hand pocket...lol
I abandoned trying to sew a top in time for a trip because I just could not deal w/ the fba. My sewing guru mom even offered her help, but aughhhhh! But I am making a fancy handbag to carry things at my friend's wedding. Smaller project was much more doable, even though I have managed to make it complicated! Anywho....love how the dress came out, especially with a backwards pocket!!
Happy birthday
Thanks so much for sharing, the pocket was hilarious. At least you didn't actually cut the fabric before you caught the mistake! I've done that before. Not a good day.
I’m so sorry to hear about your dad and I hope he’s doing better. Love your videos. This is amazing, brava
Your dress turned out awesome!!!! I know the struggles of dealing with pattered fabric…. I had to buy more if my Christmas Grogu fabric because I pulled a dumb and had a panel going upside down. Also yassssss my fave stretching portrait!! Sally Slater and the Alligator!!!
I love that fabric!
LOVE THIS! Love the fabric and the final look and the concept!
So cute! All the set backs but it paid off ❤
Prayers for your father
Love your sewing style!
It turned out adorable! I’m always doing this tap dance with skirt pieces. I have plenty of fabric! (no you don’t). I’ll just do a gathered skirt (no don’t try again). I’ll just cut carefully (whoops). I have the same fabric and am hoping to have some time this month to play along, alas, my membership in club chaos is top tier.
spoooooky
Despite the tribulations the dress turned out really nice. I've just started my contribution to the sew-along but am terrible at documenting anything. Maybe I'll remember to photograph something before it's finished?
Great job, Stephanie! Love the fabric and the vintage style :)

i just found this chanel tonight! immediately subscribed- love your sewing projects, editing and the jokes!! 🎉 yay!!! can't wait to binge watch the rest.
I like how both of you picked out the turquoise as a highlighted color. When both of you had problems with the skirt portion it kept running through my mind why aren't you adding a trim around the bottom of like 3 or 4 inches to help with the shortage.
@StephanieCanada

My problem wasn’t length it was ensuring I didn’t lay it out horridly and eat up what fabric I did have . 🤣🤣🤣
I personally would have just done the squares and a gathered skirt. If I underestimate my fabric amount it just saved on headaches and tears.
Is that a ouija board pin and planchette earrings??? Tooooo cute!
Wait, I thought they reached an agreement for the writers strike? Huh, guess I misheard. D: Hope your dad is ok and the medical thing went as best as it could. Omg I looove the blue accents. It REALLY helps..... I wonder how I could utilize that in my own never ending list of projects 🤔

The dress is perfection. Well done. Love those buttons. The angry man who hangs out in the corner of one's brain can get stuffed. I hope all is well with your Dad. In the meantime, try to be gentle with yourself. You also might consider putting up Amazon links because a Gandalf seam ripper and a screaming goat; your search skills are epic, and people need to have them in their lives, and you should have a slice of that action... By-the-by - I come fresh from research about mock-ups. Did you know that professional sewists take an average of five (5) mock-ups for every project. The rest of it is mostly - start with the bodice, do all the changes you need, then start adding components like sleeves and peplums. But knowing that the pros go through so many mock-ups makes me feel _so_ much better because my average seems to be nine - and that's without sleeves. Unfortunately it looks like it's not the greatest idea to skip the ironing on the mock-up seams... dang it. I love that you use the interfacing to do a dry run at what fitting changes you need to make. It's a good workaround for not having a sized mannequin or that tracing fabric stuff. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Fun vlog. I hope your dad is doing okay.
Mine is also going ✨️really well✨️ if it makes you feel any better 🙄 I hope I will get it done by 🎃

Love the dress pattern & fabric choice; thanks for modeling it at the WD Park.
My suggestion…get a baker’s table for ur tracing/cutting out. It’s got taller legs & this way u won’t hafta bend over the table so much.
That turned out great. I need to push my project to the finish line. I am doing contrast trim too.
I have a question. I know The Swirl dress was a store bought item in the 40's. Is there a pattern out there that replicates this one piece wonder?
What makes interfacing....dead? Hope your dad is doing better. As someone with CFS/ME I take months to work on a single garment...and then start other projects in the meantime, because ADHD.

Where is the purple cat fabric from your intro dress come from!?

WOW! The comment about guys clothes being bland is soooo uninsightful. This dress could be beautifully done in pleated trousers, belt, three quarter sleeves rolled up. With coordinating fabrics of prints and solids. Think New Orleans.😊
