📚 The Case Study Collection - www.starterstory.com/?...

I just flew down to Miami to meet @CardinalMason so I could ask him how he made $2.3 million dollars with copywriting. He shares it all: landing his first client, how to become a god-tier writer, and the business model that made him millions as a beginner. And the craziest part of it all… He started less than 3 years ago. Hope you guys enjoy this one!

$30,000 a month as a freelancer? No way! I've been a copywriter for 23 years. I know a lot of big shots. Even if you write for elite financial/health publishers, only a small percentage make that kind of money. Most freelance copywriters are in feast/famine cycles. This kid is apparently making his money selling copywriting courses. Not in freelancing.

"34k dollars a month with just few hours of work every week." That sounds like an ad for a course. I mean isnt this too tall a claim. If it were that easy to make money writing copy, all seasoned copywriters would have put the Silicon Valley software engineers to shame already.

It's not a few hours of work if you're at $34k a month. It's a ton. At my peak I was doing 60 hours a week, and I was super fast at writing. It's a grind, but it's possible. The caveat is that you need to have some business acumen as well as being able to write well. That combo is pretty rare, but people do it.

People that say that this isn't copywriting are flat out wrong. This kid uses copywriting to do businesses and earn millions of dollars, he isn't just writing emails and promos for other people. He has a entrepreneurial mindset, not a workers mindset. He is working for himself, not for others. In other words, he is resourceful, unlike some people here.

the part about there only being about 5000 copywriters is most likely not accurate. Considering that he made a course where he regularly gets new people to join in, just how there's a lot of other courses that also teach copywriting. im sure there are wayyyyy more than 5000 copy writers. That number probably comes from a google statistic of copywriters that work for companies and agencies, not freelancers. Of course that doesn't mean that every single one of these copywriters are actually good and have clients

@@starterstorydude you seriously need to do some reading before you blindly fall for these kind of stats thrown in by the ppl you invite in your podcasts. Check for the number of copywriters in one state of the US alone and you'd have more than 5000 of them. Every year there are thousands of copywriters graduating from some media or marketing school and pursuing that role as a 9-5 or as a freelancer.

Also, the market is SWAMPED with copywriters/writers. This idea that there's this tiny group of writers trying to serve 35 million businesses is BS. Most businesses are local businesses like retail, restaurants, roofers, plumbers, etc. They aren't gonna pay you $1,000 to write web copy for them! Geez man, the audacity of this! Like I said, I've been in this industry over 2 decades and I worked with Clayton Makepeace, the best ad writer in modern history. FYI, even if you do end up writing for the most elite companies that do hire top copywriters, it is an awful grind. You can't have a serious relationship or be a serious parent with those types of jobs/contracts. The work is too demanding, requires 10 hour days, weekends a lot of times, etc. And you're only as good as your last campaign. If you don't bat 100% on the last 3 promos, you're kicked out.
