    Even being followed by a man into ladies toilets, (seconds after I went in - he was trying to intimidate me as I wouldn't be friends with him) was very scarey! In a local pub, luckily I had my brother and his girlfriend who came out to wait for me when she saw the creep following. Not as bad as changing rooms or poor girls in schools, but bad enough to put me off going out. Thank you for your courageous stand

    Reasonable people don't hang around in toilets or changing rooms trying to make friends - do they? I'm glad of unisex changing rooms, because my husband helps me with dressing and getting in and out of the swimming pool. How often have we had a chat with anyone else who happens to be in there? Never! This is the problem with the way these spaces are changing. Most of us don't have time to think about how criminals are motivated, and the opportunities for crime.

And the key takeaway for us in home educating was how much better adjusted and calm and happy our kids were when NOT in a school. I've had fears about them in university, but you have to hope you've done a good enough job of getting them to question everything, and then let them go. (Fingers crossed!)

    I'm largely in agreement with the views expressed in this video, but I do think it's a little more complicated. Imagine a biological female who has transitioned to "man" and has taken significant amounts of cross-sex hormones. This person will look like an adult man. If this person follows their biological sex, they would use a female changing room - would this be appropriate? Wouldn't it make women uncomfortable, regardless of the biological sex of the person? Now, take one further step back. Just looking superficially, how can you tell which people are biological males who are men, and which people are biological females (who present as men)? Look at Buck Angel, for instance - if Buck walked into the female locker room, how could you tell that it was ok (because Buck is female)?

    Are they defining gender presentation, as outward visible phenotype or are they referring to someone who has undergone/completed hormonal and surgical transition? Additionally the communal changing room is quite a dated concept could a solution, particularly when talking about huge commercial ventures, not be changing rooms which incorporate individual cubicles? Although, showering could still prove problematic for many. It seems as if changes are being made when infrastructure to accommodate primary preferences, beyond a sweeping generalisation isn’t provided.

  • @GreenWhitePurple

    @GreenWhitePurple

    I don’t think the extent of what someone has done to themselves makes it any different. What would the gym do, require proof of castration? Even then, there would still be a privacy issue and possibly still a safety one. Individual changing cubicles don’t guarantee safety or privacy either. Young children run in and out of them, and a man claiming to be a woman could easily expose themselves/look at others through an open door or simply by standing outside the cubicles. What about moving around between entrance, showers, toilets, changing cubicles and exit? Also, cubicles are grouped together in an enclosed space. That enclosed space should be single sex for safety. What if only one woman happens to be in that area when a man comes in? I’m not saying trans people are all perpetrators. No one is saying all men are perpetrators, but we recognise that women need their own spaces away from men for decency, privacy and to be safe from a small minority who have bad intentions. We can’t identify which men are dangerous, and we can’t get round it by making the women stay in little boxes, so we say men are not allowed in certain spaces designated for women, and vice versa for the equivalent spaces for men. All the same things apply when it comes to men who say they identify as women.
