@Michael Teniente . . . but being _worse_ could be interpreted in a couple of ways: John-Ross could be a _worse businessman_ than JR; or could be a _worse husband_ than JR; or being a _worse employer_ than JR; or be a _worse judge of character_ than JR.

Agree. JR tried to to warn John Ross about his anger issues in one of their last scenes together. He said, “Vengeance is a dish that is best served cold, my boy!”

Cynthia Cidre did not do the right by the show. Her problem was she thought she could reinvent everything and no one would remember and that just doesn't work. Then she made it about her Hispanic race to create the appearance that Hispanics are the same as whites in this country. While she was doing it she didn't bother to connect it to the past show therefore this was going to be garbage even when the actors are good. I blame her for why this didn't work and I do think that Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray went along because Larry hagman was sick he just wasn't in the best of his mind that time and as he started to get sick or she took more control and they just kind of went along when they could have sat back and fixed many of these issues of discrepancy. Then when Cidre realized that she better sit back and try to fix this it was too little too late. If we could give someone the death penalty for messing up a television show she definitely is the person to give it too

And this was the very final scene ever with Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy as Sue Ellen and Bobby. Dallas was such an iconic show, these characters deserved a better ending but instead we were left hanging...I guess everyone thought the show was going to be renewed. I bought the dvd set with extras and there were some beautiful scenes between Sue Ellen and John Ross from season 3 that were cut. If they had known this was the end, some of those scenes probably would've been included in the final episodes. What a shame!

What a wasted oppurtunity on Bobby's part. He should've reminded John Ross about when he was about nine years old: "remember that you came this close (holds thumb and index finger close) to getting murdered in cold blood by a mercenary (BD Calhoun) your father hired and then double crossed? Thanks to me and your Uncle Ray, you're still alive". And also reminded John Ross about Haleyville and hoarding and stealing Clayton's oil, and only Miss Ellie bailed him out of that mess that would've bankrupted Ewing Oil. John Ross refused to learn and the series ended abruptly and we never got to see him fall on his face. Inconsistencies like these are what made the final three seasons so bad when they could've been so much better and in concert with the original 14 seasons. The writers of those final three seasons just made me shake my head.

@Alice Martine: I also hated it but the story line was getting shorter by every single moment until JR Ewing passed away and the writers had to prove to the public that he was shoot by Cliff Barnes with a Saturday Night special type of gun.

An old strategy of the original writers. " And now I would like to introduce you to my sole investor." As the villainous character conveniently enters stage right or so....How many times has this been used? It is very dramatic and wonderful.

Sorry, John Ross, you could never be in Your daddy’s league. Since he very very young, your father, learned and worked from the best; his daddy, Jock Ewing. Grandpa Jock, gave your Daddy a piece of very valuable advice when he learned your Daddy tried paying off Your Aunt Pamela the day she joined the family. Your daddy asked her “how much would it take to end this farce and leave SouthFork?” When He told your Grandpa Jock, he wasn’t happy and their conversation went as followed. JR: “I asked her (Pam) how much she’d take.” Jock : “You did what?!” JR: “ I asked her how much she’d take.” Jock: “You Jackass!“ It’s about time you learn art of subtlety.” JR: “Well why should I be subtle?” Jock: “ because, the lack of it turns competitors into enemies and enemies into fanatics!” Your daddy did his best to raise you the way Jock raised him but you only cared about getting your way. You truly never benefited from your daddy’s lessons because you left him high and dry to go live with your mother in England. You never appreciated the lengths your Daddy went for you. Spoiled and whiny, you Took his love for granted which led to Your know it all attitude. News flash! You don’t have your daddy’s business acumen, intelligence, his charisma or killer instinct. You’re too cocky, you are too angry and work from your emotions instead of your intellect and ability to know what makes your enemies and business partners tick. In other words you’re more like that rodent Cliff Barnes.
