I use pool noodles cut to length and shape along the edges of heavy items like sewing machines and typewriters, holding them in place with the stretch wrap. The denser foam really helps to protect items that will simply crush packing peanuts or bubble wrap.

Adding Top and Bottom scrap cardboard stiffeners before closing the box: Saw you put the entire excess on one end and score the bend line. When I add a top (or bottom) stiffener, I make the folds to bend the excess length over the hard front edge of my packing bench. It's fast. I also split the difference with the excess so it makes two hard 90 corners, into a U shape. The U fold works at both ends of the box, to thicken every corner and add another layer, so I think 2 U folds are better then 2 L folds because folding both ends into a U helps keep the box from crushing, since the stiffener (folded at both ends) really strengthens the pack. 😉

Typewriter pack: Before the saran, I like to put either a ball of brown crumple paper or a was of bubble down in where the striker levers reside, so they can come up and jam in transit. Enjoyed the video! 😉

At 1:23:12 - Lonnie, remove the shrink wrap and turn the roll around then put it back on the handle. It will then stay tight while you wrap the item.

Isn't it annoying when they glue up boxes with a bad seam, fit at the plant, like the outer box on the castle. I usually take a sec and trim the overhanging seam, when it's that off so the tape doesn't have to jump the gap. I've been getting a lot of the eBay Branded boxes that way of late. 😉

Clock Weights: Depending on how far those are going, that is the type of thing I still check both Ground Advantage and a Priority Padded Flat Rate Bubble mailer. Had a pack today, leaving the Pacific Northwest, headed to the east coast and Ground Advantage was a buck and change more then the new price of $8.95 on a Padded FR Priority Mailer. As they jump the price of Ground Advantage again this month, it will make those Padded FR mailer attractive once again. And you can save on the cost of a box! 😉

$6 and change is one of those advantages you have living in the center of the country. Even MN was for GA was a good deal for you. My 2 pound and greater packages have climbed to the $10 range coast to coast.

In reference to the charger My issue with aftermarket items is not that they won't work, but how long is it going to work for.

Looks like you made a HUGE mistake with that typewriter! You have to put paper down on the striker keys to keep them down! Otherwise, the keys will flip all around during transit and tangle and bend!!! I've had this happen to me!! The little metal arms that hit the paper have to be protected by packing that area with paper so they don't move.

That didn’t happen though, my buyer was very happy with the typewriter. That is a great tip though, I will definitely use your advice next time, thank you.

I ship typewriters regularly and yes, always add some crinkled paper or small bubblewrap to support the keys. I do live your stretchers idea! I add some bubblewrap to the inside of case to prevent the typewriter from shaking loose and possibly causing damage. Then wrap the outside of the case with bubblewrap. Place it into a box that has about 3-4 inches all around and use crinkled wrapping paper all around to securely hold the case in place. If it’s a very expensive typewriter I’ll double box as well using styrofoam corner protectors to separate the smaller and larger box. I hope that helps and Thanks for all your tips!
