    I'm the newbee box resizer who commented on the FB channel. Thanks for addressing my problems. I am practicing on second hand boxes for now and until I get a result that looks moderately presentable I will purchase boxes of the correct size. I have also found the new flat boxes take up much less room than all the second hand boxed that people have graciously given me.

    If you are able, Lonnie, it would be interesting to hear the exact shipping cost of each package also. I know you stop to print the label before moving onto the next package, so maybe just add the cost details when you start the next package or something 😊

    Another good cost savings on shipping the big book lots instead of the polymailers use one of the Home Depot bags. I ran out and bought a box when I saw you show them on Shed Flips and they work awesome for protecting dolls, books, so many things that could get water damaged. Can't beat the price on them either.

    Thanks so much Lonnie. It may seem silly, but your recent videos detailing what size boxes you are using, help to streamline the chaos of an everything seller!...Have not used yet, but also noticed that Rakuten gives cash back for Zoro purchases. Was 12% cash back a few days ago. Nice chunk of change.

    Thank you for the videos. Learning a ton. I do have a question though..... When you enter the box size into eBay do you enter the written measurements that are on the box such as 10x8x6 or do you do 10.25x8x6.25 (whatever the actual outer measurements are)?

    I was just thinking. I wonder if you could just put 15oz for 15.7oz. the price is the same so there is no cost adjustment to be done. Unless they have started charging for not having the exact right weight even though its the same price bracket. 🤔

    Way to go, Lonnie, on the dishes! I've learned from you on the nuances of how you pack and made better choices on my packing, such as the roll paper you are using from ZORO it's a great buy with the coupons they are sending every week. I use my credit card link to Zoro which is usually 7% to 10% extra cash back with the Zoro coupon being 15% to 20% I'm thrilled about it. I also have the 50lb paper ready to try for the heavy things. The bottoms and edges I use pool noodle strips on the bottom, edge and top because some of the dishes are so heavy. Happy packing!

    Thank you for the tip on Pirate Ship for the between 15 oz & 1 lb. I just ran into that the other day and ate over $2. Wow, those typewriters really are a challenge! I am glad to see that you neutralized the keys this time. 🙂 Oops, forgot the paper in with the doll! She'll probably be fine. Sorry for the super-attention to what you are doing. I am fascinated by how you resize the boxestoo.

    Use as reference the DMM 273.6.2 Incidental First-Class Mail Attachments and Enclosures. I am a retired Postal Clerk, and in my BMEU office, this is what I used when making determinations about hand-written items in Media Mail. I would have let your thank you card go with no additional charge. There are always newbies that don't interpret the DMM correctly. If it says 'MUST', there is no question about the rule. If it says 'SHOULD', or in this case 'SUCH AS', there is a little leeway. That's what I determined, anyway.

  • @1525kat
    @1525kat14 күн бұрын

    I realize you were being a bit tongue in cheek about the 'thank yous are illegal' comment but many newbies may not know that. Might be good to explain a bit more about the reason books are ok and magazines are not, the same basic reason you are not supposed to add business cards, thank yous, stickers to box. Those things are all considered advertising and that is technically what is against the rules. I know the post office can be so arbitrary and weird with their rules and that is why so many folks work the odds. But the newbies should know the reasons for the rules and then they can make the decision what they want to do. BTW - I am so hooked on these pack it vids. Been packing and shipping for well over 30 years but I still learn tricks and tips from watching you.

    Hi Lonnie! Thanks for the video. Question- on the 4 models pack- the box was 16x12x10 which goes into dimensional weight- correct? Did this end up costing you more than thought or did the shipping paid for each model cover the dimensional weight cost? Just checking as I struggle with the packing of items that go over the 1 cubic foot size and am beginning to start thinking I should stay away from shipping these larger items as folks can't afford the cost of the shipping. Thanks for your time! Ray

    If you look at the thumbnail for that order, the customer paid 26, I refunded 14 so the postage was 12. Those are approximate numbers. I’m just guessing but the 12x12x12 box probably would have been 8 or 9 dollars at that same weight. There is a penalty for that box but it’s not super big so it doesn’t get hit too hard.

    @@imgonnapackit I agree. This person already purchased from you. They already know you exist. The thank you is just a polite packing slip in my own personal opinion. Now, when I get a package from Kohl's and they insist on sending me free trial and discount codes for Door Dash and Hello Fresh every time---now that's advertising. (If you were including a catalog, or a newsletter, or a flyer, I might see things differently, too, but a simple thank you card--I just don't see it myself.)

    Plate Pack: one of the best tips I’ve seen and used for packing a stack of plates is to use a disposable styrofoam plate between each sold plate in the stack. The styrofoam plates work better then paper plates and conform to the plate shape better then cardboard scraps. The disposable plates come in a few sizes, so you can use them to fit dinner or smaller salad plates. 😉

    Poster Pack: when I’m pushing the over length 22” surcharge, I like to put the second end flap fold at about 21,5”, rather then eyeball it because those thick end folds often add more space then a single wall fold and I hate to measure after, finding out I’m at 22 and change. I was surprised you didn’t measure and mark the second closure, before scoring. Right at 22” can be subjective and with USPS dinging us more lately, I don’t like to be too close. 😉
