I'M BACK!!! De-Winterizing Camper Van After COLD Winter ❄🧊🥶🌨
I thought it'd be interesting to see what kind of damage happened to my van build after the relatively cold winter here in Lake Tahoe. Excited to be back on KZread!

I was getting worried about you, glad to see you back. You should do a video on your garage shop work, too!
Recommend that you keep the battery charger and extension cord connection completely under the hood, to keep everything out of the weather
You are spot on with blowing out the water system. My Dad operated a pressure washing business. He put a Schrader valve at the high point of each of his systems. At the end of the day in Winter he would open the drain valve, attach a bicycle pump to the Schrader valve and give it a few pumps to evacuate the water from the pump and lines. He never had a ruined pump from freezing.
Welcome back ! Glad you are still around 👍🏼
I added a one way valve with a shrader valve just past my 16 gallon water tank to blow out the system for winter. I blow out the system (with the pump running and the water filter removed) and it seems to do the trick. This done after the gravity drain on the on demand hot water unit is drained. Super happy with the blow out valve for sure. Love your attention to detail and how clean all your systems look. Pretty awesome what you can do when money isn't too much of an obstacle. : )
OH MAN, I was wondering how you have been.
Welcome back!! :)
I leave my car battery without power for 5 or 6 months at a time on my sprinter. I just disconnect it under the driver console. When I come back, the power level is still very high. I don't think it's a big worry. And welcome back! Been missing your content! By the way. RV antifreeze. Run that through your system before you shut it down. It's a lot less stressful.
Welcome back. 💥🥳🌺
Mr... you ain't get to abandon us like that haha. Welcome back
Still stoked to see your energie is up to proceed with your build.😃👍
Welcome back !
Glad your back
I’m glad to see you back!
So glad to see you back!
Nice to see you back.
Glad you're back at it. The garage looks great!
So happy you’re back!!!
Really glad to see you back in the saddle Seven! I was hoping you just took some down time for winter! Van looks great! Looking forward to more videos!
OMG your back love you I'm happy your okay
Great stuff, after watching your first van up into this van now. I’m about to start my tiny home build this summer and I will be following all your video’s by far the best directions I’ve seen in the past 3y of research .
Van looks great ! 😊
Glad you're back! Winter hibernation is over!

Good to see you back mate!
You’re back! Yehey!
Welcome back dude! Glad you're doing good. Can't wait to see more! :D
Since diy vanbuilders have built the water systems, it is actually a good idea to dismantle the water systems for winter if you are in freezing climates. Get ALL the water out of the pipes, or fill them with anti freeze.... that is how you "winterize"
Glad that you're back. Looking forward to see that buggy completely finished. Be safe.
Thank YOU for sharing your build. Very good detail / info - really nice share.
One other option is to pump the system full of RV antifreeze. There is a kit available that uses your water pump and some valving that allows it to be done in about 5 minutes.
Hey buddy, I think in the long term you are going to want those filters upright. Mounted horizontally there Isn’t a way to change them without spilling. I know you put a ton of time into the V1 and because you are uncompromising on quality mounting upright seems logical. The question is can you jockey everything around to reconfigure?
Sweet garage makeover!
Nice job on the workshop 👍
Great results! That's wonderful. Good idea about the water filters for next winter. You seem to apply the K.I.S.S. principle to most of your systems and that plus the lowest point drain plug make good sense.
Welcome back, I’m glad the van cover didn’t do any damage to the paint since it’s often the case during windy season.
WELCOME BACk, taking a break is good for the soul ! 😊
It’s about damn time you got back. Jeez 🙄
My van is hooked up to a Noco charger all the time. It's connected to my inverter inside the van and to one of the OEM 12v sockets. It keeps my starter battery charged either through the shore power or the house batteries. I keep my van connected to the house all winter and maintain all my batteries fully charged. I also keep the inside temp at 5 deg C all winter to keep anything from freezing. (Temperatures can go down to -30C in my area)
welcome back from the philippines
Thanks!
Same thing happened to my van’s engine battery. What gives? Van is looking great! Keep up good work.
Looking at your garage from the inside, it looks like you have room to make an 11 foot or so opening then you could put the van in the garage. Given the space in front of the car, it looks to also fit front to back. Glad to have you back making videos!

It is tall enough for the the van but like literally 3” too short in length. If I took the spare tire off it would fit. Might do this in the future!

@@seven_o_savage Perhaps just open the door if it swings around wide enough to put the tire on the side.
Finally you got back... Was kinda worried not to see your videos ever again
Yay!! 🤗🤘🏼⚡️🤙🏼
You need to check into the proper way to charge, maintain and recover a battery. At extended no run and start I would start and let it run a little bit, less than a minute and shut off and do that a couple of times to get the oil to circulate and then let it idle.
Glad youre alive
My Battery AND Battery Voltage Sensor Failed after 9000 miles In November 2021 in my 2019 Sprinter. 1. My van sat until I bought it May, 2020. No solar panel on dash like VW used to use. 2. Van drains battery if left sitting. Parasitic loads drain battery in less than 3 months. Didn’t realize this until I downloaded Mercedes Me App. At which point my Van told me: Hey Bozo-Battery Critically Low! Awesome! 3. When battery sensor failed, ALL Safety Features shut down after 70 miles: lane assist, emergency braking, etc, even cruise control. Cycle key switch buys me another 70 miles. Odd. 4. Now she’s on a trickle charger ALL winter. MB even has a recommended charger that looks just like an older CTEK with fewer features.
We use plumbing antifreeze here in Canada, even if the water system has been drained for the winter.

Yep there is food grade antifreeze that you should use in the system prior to draining that will help for any pockets of water that did not drain like those filters. I guess you remove the filter cartridges too??
Thought you were too busy or somethin', glad everything's great and you're doing okay. I'm so glad that you thought that those latches were hazard-prone tho I'd hope they didn't cause too much pain, cause when I saw you choose those I was like damn this dude's gonna regret that. Anyway, I'd go with the push button/ push open latches, gravity latches, or roller latches that just use force to open and close for accessibility cause you could also choose a variety of different handle designs for the last two options. As for the exploding filter, I think that your option would be okay since the basics of it are just to get rid of the water left also just don't let your filters freeze as it could damage the integrity of the filter. Good luck, looking forward to the update, and take care XD.
The sprinter batteries are absolutely horrible mine died all the time I just keep a Victron battery maintainer/charger Attached to mine at all times because I don’t drive the van daily.
Dang I don't remember you being in Tahoe. We're over near Truckee. I get my new AWD Transit in the next week or two to start my second build, gonna be epic! There will be some never-seen-before projects ^_^

Yea just moved. Nice man!
Really gotta look into that phantom starter battery drain, it seems excessive.
Good to see you back, minor issues to fix....are your filters before or after your pump ? After could eliminate adding a drain valve ..... ?

No just thinking maybe not...
👍👍👍
2 weeks to a dead battery is typical with these mercedes vans. If you do some searching you will see it's basically "operating as designed".
why didn't you store the battery in the house during winter?
You're back just in time for ridiculous fuel prices. 😉
Help I'm stumped I don't know where to start on my Van I'm sitting in an empty Box and can't figure out where to start help?

Hey Amelia I would start with sound deadening material. If you look at the zombie apocalypse van playlist that’s the order i did this van in.
Hi, how do I contact you If I have good products to recommend?
🤔 I wonder if that's an O'Reilly Auto Parts battery? 🤔

@@seven_o_savage Noice! That’s still in CA or Nevada? You think you’re going to like it there better? Are you taking in clients with vans that’s about 60% done to help them finish?
You know it’s just a water heater, right? Not a hot water heater. It heats up cold water, not hot water 😂
Welcome back!
