UPDATE: the extendable heat vent (referred to as hot tube) DID NOT WORK. It completely melted. UPDATE 2: I built my own version you can buy at sevenosavage.com

I was thinking: does the seat restrict the flow of cold air into the heater (I can't tell from the video), making the hot air hotter than expected?

can you link those "stand offs"? (also look who is in his own crib now! Congrats)
Hi from France! Love your videos! They're technical yet always well explained, and you seem to be a friendly guy. Cheers!
Always nice to see you and your new projects and seeing that smiling face. Thank for your expertise and the fun way you explain in a human way. It's a pleasure to watch you and your videos. Much love. Afriend.
Loved seeing a building video again. Greetings.
He’s back!!!!!!
I used to have an extendable metal tube that they use in driers where I made a connector to the original spar vent. It would extend all the way to the back of our 170EXT sprinter without the need for additional heaters . Those metal tubes can handle that temperature easy
Interesting story of how my diesel heater was incorrectly hooked up in my RV. The fuel line was tapped into the RV's fuel return line. I got really frustrated trying to get the heater to work and even after rebuilding the heater and replacing the pump could not get it to keep going. Finally I decided to tap the fuel line into the RV's main fuel line and the heater then worked perfectly. So in hindsight it seems the heater was hooked up at the factory so it only worked when the engine was running! Kind of defeated the purpose of having heat when parked. It looked like it was always hooked up that way and the previous owners did not think it was wrong? It sure frustrated me for a long time because I assumed it was hooked up correctly so that it would work at all times. Along the way though I completely cleaned and rebuilt the whole system with a new exhaust and muffler and a new pump as a spare :)
I don't see a link for where you got the extended tubing vent from, it looks like a great addition to get hot air exactly where you want it. ! Great video as always!

Howdy going to make a dedicated video once I get a good solution figured out! (This version melted)
Hey, first I want to say thank you for helping me out with my own van build. Your instructional series was basically most of what I used to learn how to build my own. Second, I’d say check out the Rixen / Espar hydronic heater next time around! The hydronic heater with engine preheat and a radiant heated floor is 🤌 and I feel like more people need to know about this. Plus it’s the same Espar quality and Rixen’s customer support. Win win.
Gonna have to get firm with you. Your videos are so good! I want more! Quit your day job if necessary. (You know you want to.) 😉

Don’t tempt me ;)
Did you change the seat cover material over by the window behind the driver's seat? Also looks like you added some floor matting to your floor (now has black trim around the edges....)
the connector you put the pins into is called a deutsch connector. :)
Curious what the heater output temperature is without the restriction from the flexible hose and the very small holes on the directional nozzle. Since the specific heat of air is so low, the air temperature from the heater will rise drastically if you limit the flow for a fixed heater power output. Long way of saying a shorter hose with bigger holes may work better in that regard and keep the temps down. Cheers man, love the videos!
Nice install! It's a shame that hot tube thingy wasn't usable, cause I would love to add one onto my heater output. I have an original Webasto 2K diesel heater that came in my 2006 camper. I rebuilt it completely and it works like a champ. Wondering if I could add a digital temp controller, mine only has the large round 'knob' control. Did Espar buy out Wabasto or what?

Going to make a video on the hot tube once I finish. Should be soon!
Where did you get the lagun table mount that's mounted on your passenger seat base?
Correct me if I am wrong. But the exaust pipe should be maximum 2m in ideal world the shorter the better.
Have enjoyed your videos for a long time. Just wondering one thing, why the second heater?

I had the same question. Does the original heater not supply enough heat?
Not sure about the tubing just hanging like that going across van. What if u are off road and go over some branches etc... and pull the line out. I understand why u ran it to the other side. I was wondering if it could be done differently

I just don't like the air intake pointing straight down.
Could the hot plastic smell be coming from the electrical tape at the extension junction?

No the whole thing melts so I’m re designing the whole thing … gonna take a bit but when I figure it out I’ll post a vid
Is this generally the same procedure as setting up the espar s2? Because you dumbed this video down good enough for me and I got the espar s2
@seven_o_savage
6 ай бұрын
Yes almost the same but I also have one for the s2
What was the reason that you selected espar? Always enjoy your videos thanks
A little easier to attach the fuel line 1st because it gets pretty tight after putting in the exhaust and intake. Other than that, I have been struggling with how the hell to power this thing because I don’t have a house battery. I have been looking at portable power, but will probably have to convert to AC because I believe it draws too many amps for most portable power stations via dc.
Do these heaters turn on and off when they come up to temp or do they just go on low?

My Petro version is off at temperature below pre set. Absolutely beautiful.
they have insulation fuel line rap to disperse heat. your missing the fuel filter
Sorry to post this on here. It's from a four-year-old video. Didn't know if you would respond on that still. I'm gonna do a conversion soon, and I wanted to use your hook and loop tape system for the wall paneling. Since you did that so long ago, I just wanna know how it is holding up. Thanks.
May have missed it but why do you need a second heater? Is it that cold up front?

I don’t see a link in the description for the hot tube you used. Can you post it?

Cool. I will keep an eye out for updates! I’m looking for a way to extend a duct to my bathroom for drying clothes like ski apparel.
Could the exhaust having such a wobble for such a long segment cause a break and leak?

What’s the tube cutter you’re using please??

They have gasoline versions of these heaters as well.
Not sure why no one mounts these where the factory does when ordered with the van. that little curved area is where the heater curve mounts, at an angle. That's why the press makes that curve.
The hot tube "Thingy" doesn't really seem like it's needed, but, assuming you really want one, you might have been better off to mount that heater in a larger compartment in order to accomodate a stiffer hose thingy, because your output temperature is going to be a problem for most duct hoses...you probably do need a metal vent tube. Otherwise, good job. Oh...and I always thought you were an engineer of some sort..."Thingy" doesn't seem to be an engineering tech term:)
2 Espars in a 144?
