In the 4x4 Mercedes Sprinter I’m building I’ve decided to use an Espar S2 D2L heater. This is a short video covering some installation tips I haven’t seen other people mention like heater location, reducing the sound with Propex acoustic ducting and mounting the heater in an external box.

Propex Acoustic Ducting: vancafe.com/propex-60mm-acous...
Sure Marine Service has one of the best selections of ducting parts. Here are the ones I highlighted in the video:
60mm Inline Splice: Webasto 1320469A www.suremarineservice.com/Hea...
60mm Elbow: Webasto W298-49A www.suremarineservice.com/Hea...

External Mount Enclosure:
This is the one I used: www.butlertechnik.com/eberspa...
Alternative option: www.heatso.com/external-mount...
These two have different sizes and access options so choose the one that better works for you.

Silicone Elbow: I NO LONGER RECOMMEND THIS PART...OR MAYBE I JUST GOT A KNOCK OFF. The Part Number is Propex 811E. The one in the video did great, but the last one I got melted which is odd given the temperature it was and that it is supposed to be made of silicone. Anyways, I'd recommend a SS option like: www.heatso.com/espar-eberspac...

+1. .. Great Espar van install ... Exhaust on the driver's side is a huge plus. .. Thanks!
Thank you!
In a nutshell, why do you prefer Espar over Webasto?
Any tips for mounting the enclosure?
so I assume you have used diesel and gas propex. Amy preference and why? I have propex because have found it for peanuts and plus I cook with gas but lpg not being as easily available and easy to install as diesel makes me question if I should go with diesel. Propex seems to shut off and on and diesel heaters just run constantly on low. Propex use much less amps than diesel heaters. But don't like idea of agas bottle in my van. What are your thoughts?
