I'm Afraid Of Americans - Dweezil Zappa

Song available at dweezilzappa.com/americans
This video is a behind the scenes look at the recording of my version of "I'm Afraid Of Americans." Captured at Sunset Sound, 9-5-17. This version features a rocking outro riff in 9/8 and substitutes "Donny" for Johnny in the lyrics.

Mr Zappa .... I'm a young french musician, mid twenties. I hated today's world for years. I hated what society was. But I just discovered your dad, Frank Zappa. I went though most of his interviews ... I had a wonderful time doing it. It was like someone confirming my thoughts. Like hearing the things I wanted to hear for .... years ... "American" generic industrial culture has overwhelmed the world. It cannot sustain. It's bringing chaos. But thanks to Frank, I know there's other people. I know things will get better. I know the truth will come out. We learn. We share. I feel 100% boosted after what I heard and saw on youtube, because people shared Frank's thoughts. We're ok as long as we look for each other. And we do. Good luck, and thanks.

"American" generic industrial culture has overwhelmed the world. It cannot sustain. It's bringing chaos."..........?.......... I've heard this since WW2. The last time was the USA and Ronald Reagan and what happened? the Wall came down and millions in the East we're liberated and partied. Villains today? try Cultural Marx, Islamic terrorism, banking terrorism aka... International ISDA, SWAPS Casino BANKSTERS. ie,....Bankster Socialism and PC NWO Cultural Marx French people owe America for two world wars and the Marshal Plan. The USSR and PRC we're pacified and defeated by the Americans. Two socialist Marxist Nations that murdered by forced labor, starvation and disease 120 million human beings over 50 years. DEMOCIDE. The French Nation and people are still influenced by Marx, deconstruction , nihilism, narcissism, existentialism, socialism, egalitarianism and their Revolution produced the FIRST psychopathic mass murder by Government 200 years ago called DEMOCIDE. They left their colonies Korea and Vietnam that they exploited ruthlessly for Americans to worry about and they do nothing for their miserable ex Colony Haite. Yes, in America we love Frank Zappa, Democracy and apple pie. That's the truth about America. The dialectic of reason, not materialism, and the intellectual pathos of the bourgeoisie. In America we do not let the rich or poor define us.

Love FZ and his music - went to his shows between 1980 and 1984. To this day, the 1981 show (Houston, Summit)- particularly the Drowning Witch solo into the "What's New in Baltimore" motif (knocking everybody down- jaw dropping) - stands out as probably THE greatest moment of musical appreciation I ever experienced. All in all, the Roxy Band / One Size Fits All period is my favorite. The man made some amazing music and we are better for it. Glad you're playing it and thanks for sharing this coolness, Dweezil!

Peter Krueger because the Bowie and Nine Inch Nails versions aren’t so much better. Example...the drumming. Properly played its 16th notes on the hi hat. The song needs that groove in the verses. That’s just one technical reason. But it’s all about subjectivity isn’t it. Have you heard the Bowie and NIN versions?

The Telefunken U-47, was the am radio that was supplied with the original Volkswagon Beetle. It was given to a groupie as a present, by the roadies. (Ya can't make shit like this up. Frank could and did.) Now- take every single thing he ever said, and google it on wikipedia. People have written books about Frank's musings!?! What? Like- Frank was once asked, (On one of those late nite talkie shows: "Why did you name your daughter Moon Unit?" Frank's reply: "I was going to name her- Richard Milhouse Nixon- but I changed my mind." Frank was teaching young people, to think for themselves. (That is a great danger, for the powers that be.) It is something that is very noticeable- in every Frank Zappa fan that I ever met! Frank taught us- to look at every single thing, in as many ways as one could think of. And it is a pleasure to see- that Dweezil and Moon Unit, are just as thoughtful and articulate, as their Dad was! Thank you so much for putting this on- more, please.

As I sit here on the eve of the 2020 U.S. election.... I'm thinking what a sad state of affairs we're in... it's scary. And then here in my KZread feed... I'm afraid of Americans... how appropriate. Dumb all over... a little ugly on the side. I got turned on to you're dad's music when I went to college in 1980... I mean we had all listened to Apostrophe and yellow snow and what not in the mid 70's but at 16 years old in 1978, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath and Van Halen ruled. I had a room mate in college that turned me on to Frank. We would start early and stay up all night listening to one after another... nothing but Frank, the more obscure the better, between as we had close to 50 Zappa albums. Now, I appreciate all of it and when Eddie Van Halen passed away, I discovered your music. I like it. In fact, I could stay up all night listening to it.
